Piers Morgan - why his virulent hatred for Meghan Markle?

Not a Harry & Meghan thread as such but a genuine question as to why Piers Morgan is so offensively outspoken about Meghan Markle?

I won't do an extensive c&p exercise but some links below are indicative of Piers Morgan's general style.

Is this Piers Morgan's general persona or is this reserved for Meghan Markle?

It really is despicable how Morgan uses is position to pursue personal vendettas.

Ian Hislop tells a hilarious story about how Morgan spent months - and a lot of the Mirror's money - on desperately trying to dig up dirt about him after he was shown up on HIGNFY. Morgan kept promising release of an incriminating dossier and never managed to produce anything. They even phoned his vicar for dirt, and had to be told that isn't really how the Church works.
