Nicest things you had for your baby

I’ve got baby number two on the way and I’m just making a list of the things we need to buy.

Please don’t say you don’t need much and they just throw up on anything nice you have anyway because I like nice pretty things and I have the money, within reason, to spend so see no harm.

I don’t want to seem ungrateful but we made use of anything plastic and ugly we were given last time and they have since been given away so need to buy new things like play mat, baby gym, swingchair. So can you recommend the nicest things you have used.

I third the tuppence and crumble star wraps, they are brilliant, look super cute on and can be used in the car seat, whilst in the carrier. So warm and easy to put on.

I also had a morrck baby hoodie for the car seat second time around, which was really good. No more lost or kicked off blankets!

I have a Tula free-to-grow sling which is amazing, can be used from newborn & much more comfortable than other carriers (like baby bjorn) in my experience. I got mine from a brilliant company called "it's a sling thing". I purchased mine through their try before you buy scheme, def worth checking out if you aren't sure which carrier to buy.

My youngest was terrible at sleeping on his own, so I discovered the cuski comforters. They are used in nicu units by the nhs and are safe for newborns, you keep it with you for a few days to get your scent and then give it to baby for a comforter. He still loves his cuski now at 14mths old!

Perfect prep machine is a must have if you end up bottle feeding, total god send in the small hours!

Shnuggle baby bath - so much easier to use than the traditional baby bath! Can use from newborn to 12mths, there is a little 'wedge' in the bottom of the bath which helps to support baby from newborn, so you can have both your hands free to wash them. So much easier than trying to hold them in one arm and doing it all one handed! x

Baby Boden cardigans, the ones with three buttons at the top
Joules fluffy jackets - so so soft and snuggly 😊
Baby Bjorn Bouncer
Blanket from TK Maxx (silver cloud?)
Life Tree Giant muslin (I don’t really rate Aden&Anais)
Nuby rubber bib

SaaauuusierGrrr · 11/01/2020 23:17

Next2Me crib - total godsend, especially for night feeds.

An OutNAbout nipper buggy - best jogging buggy ever but best used from around six months or older so you can actually run with them.

A really gorgeous solid wood sleigh cot bed. We got ours second hand but it's heirloom beautiful and will last through to preschool age.

We also spent what was probably, in retrospect, an absolute fortune on baby/toddler books and read to her constantly from day one and I have no regrets on that front.

Coatzillaclaus · 11/01/2020 23:30

My baby also liked her shnuggle bath

Also, ergobaby 360 baby carrier and Sock-ons

Scarylady · 12/01/2020 04:27

Oh wow thank you everyone. Lots of ideas there for me to have a look at. You all definitely seem to be on my wave length as lots of suggestions of things we already have, the next to you crib, the shnuggle bath.

@carseatgreet my style is definitely scandi! Bright colours and plastic is my worst nightmare!

Tripp trapp, shnuggle bath, baby Bjorn bouncer, tommee tippee nappy bin, hooded towels

FixItUpChappie · 12/01/2020 05:42

This Cloud B Twilight turtle. My son now 7yrs still uses it every night. It's makes his ceiling look like water and plays gentle waves breaking. It's lovely IMO

grisen · 12/01/2020 07:53

The schnuggle bath. My son still loves it at 1 years old. We use it daily, often just filling it with water and splashing in it, stuffing it with toys, practicing sitting or pulling up

NemophilistRebel · 12/01/2020 08:01

Tripp Trapp
Baby Bjorn Bouncer (could eat dinner with both hands!)
Tina + Marl changing backpack which is still being used 3 years later as a day bag
Cybex Priam - longest seat so has lasted the longest out of any prams my friends had

Scarylady · 12/01/2020 12:14

@grisen that’s a great idea, might dig it out for a messy play afternoon with dd

Sleepyhead deluxe, baby Bjorn bouncer, a wooden activity gym. I only buy wooden toys and lots of books, black and white books are best at first.

Urkiddingright · 12/01/2020 12:26

Oh yeah and the Shnuggle bath is absolutely fantastic.

Scarylady · 12/01/2020 12:36

@Urkiddingright any recommendations on where you buy your wooden toys?

OP posts:
rottiemum88 · 12/01/2020 12:38

www.scandiborn.co.uk/collections/wooden-toys great for wooden baby toys

Urkiddingright · 12/01/2020 12:40

Yes scandiborn is great, also Jojo Maman Bebe and Alex and Alexa.

MrBobLobLaw · 12/01/2020 13:26

@scarylady I got the linked baby gym frame and associated baby mat from Kidly. It's great and looks v scandi. I just hook on some toys and DS2 8wks loves it. It folds away too which is good for us. I thought in the summer it will be good to use in the garden with a Muslim over one side as a little sun shade too. Amazing discount too!!

Scarylady · 12/01/2020 16:56

@MrBobLobLaw ooh that is nice. I was looking at this one but love that your suggestion can be folded and bargain price as well!

Love the stuff on scandiborn, half of dd’s Christmas presents actually came from there

Grumpbum123 · 12/01/2020 17:00

Morckk hoodie

MrBobLobLaw · 12/01/2020 18:30

With a muslin over one side, that was supposed to say of course Blush

I had seen those style too @Scarylady but I liked the foldable aspect of this one and it's definitely better value for money as the A frame ones will be super cheap to make.

MrBobLobLaw · 12/01/2020 18:31

the Modern Nursery sell some lovely things too OP.
