Terrible Tesco Online - Who else to try?

ritzbiscuits · 11/01/2020 18:09

Coming to the end of my 6 month delivery saver plan with Tesco and have had nothing but problems.

Lots of short dates (never flagged no the receipt), unsuitable subs (full fat coke when I ordered Diet Pepsi), variable fruit and veg, and even a couple of out of date items. Yoghurts 3 days out of date has been the final straw today! It's coming from a local store and their processes are obviously terrible.

I have a bad back so really struggle pushing a full trolley. Can anyone recommend an alternative supermarket to try, ideally where they are delivering from a fulfilment centre. Know it does depend on area though!

I use Sainsbury’s. I do work for them but even when I was working in Tesco I used Sainsbury’s.

wowfudge · 11/01/2020 18:14

Morrisons? I compared them with Ocado and they were quite a bit cheaper even without a voucher. No idea whether they deliver from store or a warehouse though.

Queenparsnip · 11/01/2020 18:24

I've used Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys.
Sainsburys was the best but I found it very expensive. Asda get a bad reputation but they've been fine in the main.

Asda are the best

Been doing tesco click and collect for the last 3 weeks and every single time I get out of date stuff and stuff that goes off the next day (bread, crumpets, pizza etc)

SheChoseDown · 11/01/2020 18:54

Waitrose have a deal where you get 20quid off your first 5 shops (or something similar) and if the item isn't within 2 days of delivery date on fresh /produce they give it to you for free. Subs are really good too. They prefer to sub UP so you get a better product than you paid for

HelloAgainYou · 11/01/2020 19:08

I've tried nearly all the supermarkets delivery and Ocado wins every time. They come from a fulfilment centre and they're really not more expensive than the big five.

HarryDaylight · 11/01/2020 19:21

Ocado. For products and service they are unbeatable. They don't have supermarkets, so no sloppy substitutions or surprise late date items, as the system is computerised.
I have used Morrison's as well, who operate out of similar warehouses, and use an identical website.
Ocado and Morrison's give you 5p back for every plastic back you return. My current delivery deal is £2.99 per month for unlimited deliveries for 15 months which I feel is good value.

bag not back

MiseryChops · 11/01/2020 19:24

I’m lucky. The Tesco where I live are absolutely brilliant.
Clearly the people who pick the food are really good at it.

BrokenWing · 11/01/2020 19:34

Tesco here are really good. Short dates are normally on the receipt, if you say you don't want they'll refund on their portable terminal and give me the item to keep. If I notice short days when putting away I just phone customer services and they refund over the phone.

northernlittledonkey · 11/01/2020 19:41

Morrison’s delivered by Ocado, really fantastic

Orchidflower1 · 11/01/2020 19:43

The thing with sainburys is they have no bags and no option to add them it’s very annoying - I’ve ditched them based on that.

MrsPnut · 11/01/2020 19:45

We have used Waitrose for years and if you shop carefully then it is cheaper than Sainsbury’s.

Delivery is free if you spend £60 and it is one hour slots.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/01/2020 19:45

Tried them all, Waitrose best

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 11/01/2020 19:47

Interesting - I never have any problems with Tesco and have been using them for years.

PickleSarnie · 11/01/2020 19:48

Ocado. Very, very rarely substitute and, when they do, they are always sensible and often more expensive versions (that they don't charge the difference for)

The app is brilliant. So I guess would probably be similar app for Morrisons but I've not tried that.

Cantchooseaname · 11/01/2020 19:50

Had awful Ocado experience last week- they delivered my apples/ veg/ childs suckie yoghurts in same bag as raw chicken and everything was coated in raw chicken juice. It was awful.
Guy on the phone “it’s not a good look”.
They do not seem to have a policy about what can go in bags together, and rely on common sense.
It’s really put me off. Never again.

AlexaKimbo · 11/01/2020 19:51

Waitrose and Ocado are great. Did an Ocado shop this week as they emailed me 15% voucher. Another time recently, I’d ordered a few pack of fresh chicken wings for the dogs and as they were close to use by date I got them all for free.

Ilovepinot · 11/01/2020 19:53

We use Sainsburys. We have a delivey pass which you buy yearly, think it was £60 so deliveries over £40 are free.

OddBoots · 11/01/2020 19:53

I have found Morrisons very reliable, I think they come from the same warehouses as Ocardo, the bags are the same and I know it is a warehouse based delivery.

salema · 11/01/2020 19:53

I’ve switched from Tesco to Morrisons. It’s noticeably cheaper and the substitutions are very generous. Ocado are also good but I find them too expensive for a weekly shop.

Bearlyclearly · 11/01/2020 20:21

I use Ocardo, great service and so many good deals and offers to be had. There own branded stuff is cheap and excellent quality. They gave me a free delivery pass for a year when I signed up, and when it runs out it’ll be £2.99 month for peak times.

PPopsicle · 11/01/2020 20:22

Ocado Ocado Ocado!
Having brilliant offers on and their basic range works out the same price as Asda etc

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 11/01/2020 20:31

Morrisons.

Done at a warehouse not in store.

Could probably count on one hand the number of subs we've had in a couple of years.

Helpful delivery people, always cheery, take your bags back. If there's ever an issue (burst yogurts for example) the phone gets answered and they are always really helpful

ritzbiscuits · 11/01/2020 21:51

Thanks all.

@BrokenWing @MiseryChops My delivery store is awful, I just had one thing after another. Short dates are never flagged on the receipt, I've found out this is not done automatically by the system and the picker just overrides it so there is no comment!

I've also asked on a local group and going to try Ocado/Morrisons, they seems to get the best recommendations where I am.
