Just that. I'm due in May and have pretty much all the stuff I need for a baby, but people are asking what I would like...I was thinking books! Growing up, my mom read to us every night and I'd like to carry on that tradition. The thing is, I'd love to Branch out and hear about books I haven't necessary heard of.

So what are your children's favourite books? I'm happy with board books, picture books, novels... anything!

I'd suggest everyone bring a copy of Either their own favourite book or their dcs favourite book.

My kids are under 8 and we all love:-
The Julia Donaldson books
The Hairy Maclary books
The Tiger Who Came to Tea
The Great Dog Bottom Swap

I hated the Mr Men books.

MooseBreath · 11/01/2020 17:33

That's a great idea, thank you!

Dr Seuss
Cat in the hat, green eggs and ham are our favourites but we've got loads.

My two love the Little Miss books but they make me want to poke myself in the eye.

DD2 has just discovered Beatrix Potter.

DS liked "Little Blue Truck" and "Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site" which were recommended by an American friend.

Both of them (DS aged 5 and DD aged almost 3) currently LOVE the Farmyard Tales books from Usborne. DD likes the stories; DS likes that he can read bits.

In a moment of weakness we let DD buy herself a Peppa Pig book with her holiday money, and have deeply regretted it ever since. She loves it though.

Gingerninja01 · 11/01/2020 19:37

DD loved all the Thats Not My books and the Spot lift the flap books when she was tiny, she is now 2.5 and as others have said really likes Julia Donaldson, also another nice one is Giraffes can't Dance.

I loved the Emma Dodd books for bedtime, they're really short but lovely for parents to read to babies. I've bought them for loads of christening presents and will always remind me of reading at bed time. She still asks for them now sometimes and she's 3.5. Those and The Great Green Room, all perfect bedtime books. If I read any of them in the day time they make her yawn as it's such a strong association!
