Help .....What the hell is biting me?

2 days ago after showering I felt itchy along my bottom of my back,just above my bum,along the area the top of my knockers would sit. On investigation I had several raised lumps, bites. I also had one or two up my side below my waist.
Early evening yesterday DH had a row of angrylooking bites in the same place.
This morning after showering I've found a few on my legs and ankles.
We have no pets.
Windows have been open alot despite the cold and rain thanks to husbands curry batch cooking.
Husband is not sharing our bed atm as he has had a cold and snoring is horrendous.
The corner sofa is where we have both been.
Basically over 3 days we have both had a cluster of bites.
Ds1 and dd2 have both goneback to uni this week and have reported no bites. Dd1 goes back to uni Monday and sits on a sofa thenotherside of the lounge and also hasn't had any bites.
I have white bed sheets and no evidence of anything in there. I have changed the bed since the first lots of bites I had 2 days ago incase something had g it stuck in the bed.
Its January. Nonones been to stay. None of us have been anywhere much since New Year due to illness.
Bites are tiny but itchy and obviously get bigger the more we scratch.
Any ideas? What can I do to rid whatever it is?

Could be a flea someone has brought in - not everyone gets an itchy bump from a flea bite

Are they very itchy? Flea bites would seem the most obvious.

If it's ankles I would say fleas.

How long have you lived there?

Gnat bites possibly, especially if windows have been open.

They can be in sofas too.
Check everywhere for tiny black dots in the fabric.

Get a bug repellent spray and start using it until you find the cause.

Not everyone reacts to bites and some people are never bitten.

I second could be bed bugs. Check for rows of bites. Have a look for blood on your sheets and brown staining behind your furniture.

Car seat? We once had fleas in ours

No black dots. Bed bugs was my worst fear. First thing I checked.
Im just at work now and have noticed more up my legs once I put the heat fan on my feet and i got warm. Also one on my wrist!!

Is there a flea a or bug treatment for houses/furniture??

Do they get really itchy in the evenings? If so then it probably is bed bugs. I've had bed bug bites a couple times, and they get itchy only really at night, and it crazy how itchy they are!

Are they in clusters or rows? That's also typical of bedbugs

I got a flea infestation from a bag of clothes someone gave me for one of my kids. Fleas travel on people's clothes, all you need is a visitor who has animals.

Order some indorex from Amazon and follow the instructions.

Bed bugs, brought back from uni would be my first thought.

If it's fleas then hot washing anything you can and spraying the rest with Indorex (can get from Amazon) is the best thing I've found. I would:

• turn the heating up a bit to keep them active (easier to kill)
• wash everything you can (cushion covers etc)
• hoover really well, especially along skirting, dump the hoover contents straight into an outside bin
• indorex
• hoover every day for the next few days, dumping all hoover contents outside
• indorex again a week later

If it's bed bugs I would call a professional.

I have an old couch I don't really use and sometimes wind up with bites after sitting on it. Don't have pets but the sofa was there with the last owners. And the flat gets mice occasionally that like to hide their food behind it. So I think it's fleas.

Or you can cut up a cat flea collar and stick that in your hoover bag. It's about the only thing they're good for.

if you have a shallow dish put a small amount of washing up liquid in (to break the surface tension) and some hot water and place it in the area you suspect - fleas are attracted to the heat as they think this is an animal and jump, hopefully falling in the water. If you can safely rig up a lamp with an incandescent bulb (for the heat) nearby this will keep the water warm for longer (or just replenish it) if you even get one flea you'll know what it is then.

I've just come home from work and husband has steam cleaned and vacuumed the lounge and sofa. So that's a start.

Help I thinks it's fleas.
I've literally spent 12 hours today emptying my bedroom washing everything down. Vacuuming etc.Changed and boil.washed bedding etc. Because I was worried it was bed bugs. I knew cleaning wouldn't rid bed bugs if that's what it was but I was searching the books and crannies of my bed and mattress etc. Well I missed the bloody fleas didn't I!!
Literally just been in freshly made bed 1 hour watching TV and felt an.itch on my lower back. Saw a small black thing on the sheet behind me. Tried to squash it with .y finger butbit didnt squash amd jumped away down the back of my bed.

So pissed off after 12 hours of spring cleaning.
So this Invorex Spray....is it safe?
I assume I need to spray my mattress? Strip the bed and boil wash again? Move bed and plastic crates underneath and spray carpet/curtains??
I'm worried with it being my bedroom and a 1 year old v expensive mattress this spray is toxic or dangerous.
Any advice appreciated.

Did you have a real Xmas tree? We’ve had an outbreak before, particularly if it’s mild.

I got bitten at work once, we regularly used to have to have the office sprayed for paper mites. Do either of you work somewhere that has a lot of paper? They used to get in the carpets as well because they were all those awful cheap nylon ones in the offices. You could have brought them home on your clothes, bags or shoes.

If they are in a row this would suggest bedbugs. Rows of three are typical. I've had them in the house and got rid of them (fingers crossed) without getting professionals in. (Rentokill quoted £500 per room with no guarantee.)

Bedbugs love crevasses and cracks. I literally took my kids beds to pieces, hoovered everything (dumped the bag each time) reassembled the bed and varnished every crack and joint with Scewfix's clear water based floor varnish. I did the floor / skirting edges as well. Everything was dry within an hour. No smell. I managed to do it while they were at school without them noticing. I had to do it a few times but got the fuckers eventually.

I second this. I had to do this recently when the cat bought some friends home. A candle nightlight in a wide dish of water works really well too.

I'm hoping its not bed bugs. Like I said I emptied the room today and searched for bed bugs. Inspected my mattress and bed carefully. Also this tiny black thing jumped and according to several sources bedbugs cannot jump.
Ffs. I'm now camped out on my sofa (although dh got bitten there) but I have no where else and I could not remain in bed having seen that.
Ive ordered Indorex but it's not coming until Tuesday. Do you think Homebase will sell it too? Ideallybi want a can tomorrow.

I'm so pissed off I literally did not stop from 10am to 10pm not even to eat. I did 4 loads of laundry (bedding dressing gowns etc). Moved all the furniture. Disinfected everything and then this buffering thing turns up and bites me almost as soon as I get into bed.

Fuck I'm so angry and tired!!
