My 3 year old child doesn't understand the stigma surrounding a toffee penny.

She's eaten them all. Bad parenting on my part, I left the room while she was watching something and I forgot the tin was on the table.

She's left all the good stuff and now we have no idea what will be the last sweetie remaining.

My money is on the plain block in the green wrapper.

I've scrubbed her teeth. Bed time was hell, I've learnt my lesson. I don't need a flaming today.

Mint then if there’s no coffee (is that Roses?)

The best thing about tubs of chocolates is reusing the tin for something dull in work and then people get really excited thinking someone’s brought in some Celebrations and then when they open it it’s like FFS BOARDMARKERS

IncrediblySadToo · 10/01/2020 00:03

She’s a girl with good taste!! Just don’t send her around here- she won’t make it out alive if she nicks all the toffee pennies!!

Queenest · 10/01/2020 00:03

I had to leave Quality Street. I defected to Roses. I’m a lot happier now. No toffee pennies..

I am anti Roses with their new wrappers

TheFoxAndTheMole · 10/01/2020 00:06

Just thought wait until she clears out the toffee fingers and that weird hard one too

MotherHeggy · 10/01/2020 00:07

The toffee ones are the best ones. Everything else in the tin gets poisoned by the coffee and orangey flavoured chocolates

No,you're wrong. It's the other way round. The toffee ones are only fit for the bin.The coffee ones are the best, closely followed by the strawberry ones.

UnderTheButtNutHut · 10/01/2020 00:10

Blue coconut
Toffee Penny
Toffee finger
Purple ones

Those are the BEST of them!

Queenest · 10/01/2020 00:18

and that weird hard one too yes what is that one?!

Howmanysleepsnow · 10/01/2020 00:21

Does anyone want my left over coconut ones? And possibly some orange cremes?

Strategicchoring · 10/01/2020 00:25

Urgh the strawberry and orange dreams are rank

Strategicchoring · 10/01/2020 00:25

or even creams Hmm

AvaSnowdrop · 10/01/2020 00:28

I eat them all except the blue coconut. They go in the bin.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 10/01/2020 00:29

I didn't like the new chocolate caramel brownie one. Although I thought the wrapper was a lovely colour!

BillHadersNewWife · 10/01/2020 00:31

How have you still got chocolates left from Christmas!??

TheFoxAndTheMole · 10/01/2020 00:52

I'll have the orange ones!

My dream mix would be strawberry, orange, triangles and brought back coffee ones.

Ozgirl75 · 10/01/2020 00:52

my husband thinks the purple ones are the devils sweet and they’re my favourite. We had only been together a short time when we discovered this and it was like “we complete each other” Grin

TheFoxAndTheMole · 10/01/2020 00:52

Oh and purple ones obviously

Stabbitha · 10/01/2020 10:37

No. Not cutted up. I wasn't even in the room. I'm still horrified now, in the cold light of day.

My money would have been on the coconut devil thing but DP loves coconut.

@TheFoxAndTheMole amen to that!

DrKnickerbocker · 10/01/2020 12:29

I'm amazed that she's made her way through the toffee pennies, they take some chewing!

It's admirable really.
Go miniStabbitha!

(Nowadays the toffee penny is about the only edible Quality Street, alongside strawberry creams. The rest are rank.)

Doyoumind · 10/01/2020 12:31

YABU. Toffee pennies are the best ones.

DrKnickerbocker · 10/01/2020 12:35

I really disliked QS this year.

Strawberry cream, toffee penny and toffee finger are the only ones that've been eaten.
The rest are still sitting there.

I tried the new caramel brownie and it tasted like play-doh, the tin had a really acrid/play-dog smell when I took the lid off and the chocolate hurt my mouth and throat (almost like a burning/chemically feeling.)

Won't be buying them again Sad

ClashCityRocker · 10/01/2020 12:36

I'm with you op, we always have a few tins floating around the office over Christmas and it's always the toffee pennies left.

I'm not keen on any of them tbf, but I can do the odd strawberry cream..

DryIce · 10/01/2020 12:44

I am not British and thus have missed this stigma. I love toffee pennies and clean up over Christmas when all my husband's family abandon them

stilldoesntknowwhatshappening · 10/01/2020 12:46

I'm not even half way through the thread and I can't believe people are defending the Toffee Penny. It's a sin. It's not confectionery.

YANBU OP. I'd get your child some therapy
