Just wondered if anyone else has been ill with a horrid bug. Cough, cold, dizziness, exhaustion, sore throat?

I've been ill nearly a week now. i thought it was going but it seems to be lingering and leaving me feeling really weak, coming in waves.

Just wondered if anyone had anything similar and if so how long it's taken to shake off!

My daughter has had this since mid December, 3 lots of anti biotics later, and still got, has to have a sputum test and Xray if i doesn't go ,
My sister has had it for weeks too, but refuses to see Dr, which she should as shes elderly, and could turn to pneumonia

I'm in bed with a temperature. Had this virus since Boxing day. Had it more lightly than the rest of the family but now have a temp since yesterday. Thought the ruddy thing had gone!

Been off all week. Most of the time in bed asleep. I seems to have escaped sore throat but the cough is there along with headaches some of which were like my head was going g to explode. !

No appetite and hence very little regard for drinking. Became a bit dehydrated by the look for my wee ( sorry) which probably contributed to the headaches.

Have a right wheezy chest and feel spaced out. DH trying to encourage me to get some fresh air this afternoon.

Yes, DH has had it for a couple of weeks - really weak and exhausted, and is still shaking it off, SIL has been rough too, and we know a few other people with it as well. I had a really sore throat for a couple of days in the week, but it has gone away now so I'm hoping I fended it off! Adult dd has had the sniffles and loads of phlegm (TMI - yuk) for weeks, no end in sight yet.

I'm really hungry but can't face food. I've got this horrible taste in my mouth and throat is on fire. I hoping it doesn't last as long as some of other pp's, I'm self employed and can't afford time off!

Mine is now redeveloping as the day goes on. I feel absolutely shite and my throat is burning, is vague nausea a symptom?

AmazingGreats · 11/01/2020 16:49

@WhoisitnowRalph

I hope nausea is a symptom! Either that or I've had an immaculate conception as I feel like I have morning sickness

WhoisitnowRalph · 11/01/2020 16:59

That's exactly what it feels like Amazing! Yeah I'd be a bit shocked too, any pregnancy would be ectopic...I'm also 47.

Christ I'm supposed to be having an op on Monday, can't imagine facing an anaesthetic.

moglovesmincepies · 11/01/2020 17:00

Had it since nye. Thought I was getting better but it's hit me like a ton of bricks again today. FlowersBrew (lemsip) for all

closetotheaction · 11/01/2020 20:35

@WhoisitnowRalph Nausea was actually one of the first symptoms of my sinusitis. Apparently it's caused by the beautifully-named post-nasal drip - basically snot running down the back of your throat into the stomach. Envy

olivertwistwantsmore · 11/01/2020 20:42

And I had the flu vaccine in November! I know the jab doesn’t always stop you from catching flu, but hopefully having it prevented this awful bug from developing into something worse.

@Palmysterious - I don’t think the flu vaccine protects against All strains of influenza A...

Geoffreythecat · 11/01/2020 21:47

Yes I had nausea, and could feel the post nasal drip which I assume was causing it. Lovely!

Feelingpoorlysick · 11/01/2020 21:49

Yes, I woke up with it Christmas eve morning, only just starting to feel a bit better now, still got a horrible cough though.

MsTSwift · 11/01/2020 21:50

Day 11 Hmm very heavy cold shivery achy snotty bunged up no energy can’t hear as ears blocked up or smell. Dh slightly worse gp said his flu. Not sure though we both had flu 10 years ago that was way worse. But this going on so long ....

WhoisitnowRalph · 11/01/2020 21:56

Yuck. It feels more to me like the burning in my throat has moved down towards my chest, that's where I feel sicky...not a lot of drippage going in to my knowledge, I'm not in the least bit bunged up.

On the plus side, I don't feel like I have a temperature, and paracetamol is taking the edge off the ill feeling.
