People complaining constantly about minor ailments or being tired. Guess what, everyone gets a cold or is tired sometimes.

What they had for breakfast, what they are going to have for breakfast tomorrow. What they ate for breakfast on holiday.

The woman I used to work with who not only treated me to a long and detailed account of her holiday but also then loaded a street map on her phone to point out where each and every event took place. She was my boss and I was new so I couldn't tell her to shut up. I excused myself to go to the toilet to hide. No such luck. She and her maps were still waiting for me when I got back. I was so glad when she left.

Detailed descriptions of Aunty Jill's medical procedures and ensuing complications. Who the hell is Aunty Jill?

This is a great thread.

My ex used to bore me to death with the politics of his home country 🤦🏻‍♀️ why would I care?

But also: anyone preaching about the NHS (I work in it but they usually don't), formula 1 (the cars just go round and round?), people telling me about their holidays usually where they just sat by the pool and ate food and also those who love to tell me what they ate for dinner in minute detail.

Don't get me started on people trying to get me to watch comedy videos on YouTube (do I have to politely laugh even when it's shit?) or with people boring me with their problems at work (I don't care, no really I don't)

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 08/01/2020 00:55

Ironing

People talking about people I don't know

Spacedust1 · 08/01/2020 00:56

Self-centred people who have no interest in anyone else

Shockers · 08/01/2020 00:57

DH explaining how the tv remote works...

Shockers · 08/01/2020 00:58

Oh, and drunk people.

Time40 · 08/01/2020 01:35

I can't believe no one has said queues yet. Queues make me feel as though I'm going to explode.

Being on public transport when it's too noisy to concentrate on reading, and there are still hours of the wretched journey to go.

Being stuck at the railway station when the train gets cancelled.

Cookery.

Oh, and so very many more. I'm like a pp - it's easier to say what I don't find boring.

But I like some of the things that have been mentioned here. I love transport museums, anything steam-driven, and talking about cars.

AlaskaElfForGin · 08/01/2020 06:19

MIL telling me what her friends have for dinner

Staff meetings

Football

Cricket

Playing make-believe with children.

Seahorseshoe · 08/01/2020 06:20

Baby bores. I have been one myself and am thoroughly ashamed of myself. I love hearing about a baby and their progress, but when it's someone's only topic of conversation, it is beyond tedious.

AlaskaElfForGin · 08/01/2020 06:22

Oh yes, as a pp said, drunk people. I was in the unfortunate position of being the only sober person amongst 5 very drunk people at the weekend and couldn't have been more bored.

whydoihavetogothroughsomuch · 08/01/2020 06:29

Reality tv
I mean come on. I think it's starting to get a tad bit ridiculous now.

Yehdivvy · 08/01/2020 06:32

Parents in dc school, they're of a type and all socialise together. They have similar jobs, lifestyles, looks and the same plastic surgeon. All very predictable and boring.

bubblesforlife · 08/01/2020 06:33

Small talk
Brexit
Sport
People talking about how great they are

dogrilla · 08/01/2020 06:45

People going into minute detail about their family trees makes me want to scream. Esp if they've been researching all the obscure branches. I really couldn't give a fuck.

coatlessinspokane · 08/01/2020 06:46

People talking about their kids’ progress.

Men’s sport.

People who have no “stop talking” filter

TheReluctantCountess · 08/01/2020 10:21

Oh yes people who are ALWAYS ill. I have a colleague who I avoid because I can’t take the moaning. I have been known to snap at her that perhaps she’s shouldn’t be in work if she is SO ill again.

Mrsjayy · 08/01/2020 10:24

People who go on about their ancestory DNA results bore me rigid. Oooo im 67%scandinavian and the rest is random nonsense,

Cruddles · 08/01/2020 10:45

solo acoustic performers or music of said performers. Shoot me now, this is so fucking dull

WombleOfTheThighs · 08/01/2020 10:57

CathyorClaire · 08/01/2020 10:58

Route talk especially on arrival at destination. Possible alternatives to route taken talk. Potential route talk on departure.

You've been at the arse end of a five mile tailback all the way there and you know you're going to be at the arse end of a five mile tailback within 15 minutes of leaving so why the fuck does it matter which one?

WombleOfTheThighs · 08/01/2020 11:09

Had another think.

Gaming and being talked at about gaming (nephew, I'm looking at you)
My sister talking about my nephew
My nephew
Having a bath
Politics
Having to sit through the news when DH watches
Housework
Gardening - I love plants and grow loads of unusual and rare things, mostly from seed, but actually digging/planting/weeding etc is so dull
Our neighbour who, when I bump into him, drones on and on and on about... I don't know, I stop listening after a bit
Long periods (more than about 3 days) of really hot weather

Cruddles · 08/01/2020 11:24

Having to sit through the news when DH watches

yes, my DW and I have pretty much stopped watching the news, so it's always painful when my DM or her DM are over and watching it and getting constantly outraged at the outrage stories. "Did you see that story on blah blah blah, I can't believe it, people like that should be locked up, just terrible". No, I didn't see it, I don't care

MarshaBradyo · 08/01/2020 11:27

A client socialising event. Tg I don’t have to do that these days.

MarshaBradyo · 08/01/2020 11:29

I’ll amend that to one where you have to stand and chat. I’ve had some ok client dinners.

Oh and housework.
