Listening to the young things in my office droning on about Love Island or whatever trash reality show is favourite at the moment.

Said young things referring to everything as cute - 'that outfit is so guy's - I'm a middle aged woman for God's sake and I don't do 'cute'.

I sound really miserable but it's really difficult to bite my tongue sometimes.

mrsfindlay · 08/01/2020 19:47

Queuing in banks / the Post Office!

MinesaPinot · 08/01/2020 19:47

*guy's'?? Where the he'll did that come from?

I meant 'cute' !

EugenesAxe · 08/01/2020 19:54

Thanks @silenceofthemams!

RainbowSlide · 08/01/2020 23:49

I'd also like to add:
Dh going on about front door styles, and the specific stained glass he wants in it. I don't care, just buy the thing, I don't know why he won't just find it and buy it!!

Music documentaries.

My dad's tech chat - watches, app development, little problems he thinks i can help him solve but in fact it's my ability to sit silently still long enough for him to explain it and realise the solution for himself..

Baby bores. I have one, you have one, doesnt mean we need to effing talk about them (their sleeping, feeding etc) all the time, let's talk about what we'd rather be doing!

Finding things my dc will eat that isn't the same damn pasta every night.

BankAngle · 09/01/2020 07:32

My Mum doing a virtual brain download about her neighbours, people I don't know and don't care about.
Sport, any of it.

doublebarrellednurse · 09/01/2020 07:38

Minute detail like

She said this and then he said this and then the donkey chimed in with this but then we all went to the beach and x drowned.

Who gives a shit who said what?

Zenithbear · 09/01/2020 09:28

When something has just happened to me and half way through talking about it, someone butts in with the longest ever story of when a slightly similar situation happened to them , usually 10 years ago. Wait your fucking turn.
People who are always moaning.
Gossip.
Drama.
Anything celeb.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/01/2020 09:29

Sport, weddings, people droning on about their children as if they were the most important thing in the world (objectively, not just to them).

Sparklingbrook · 09/01/2020 09:59

A new addition to the list. Threads about Harry and Meghan on MN.

Chuffit · 09/01/2020 10:13

Kids.
Anything to do with kids.
Dreams.
Hobbies.
Other people's jobs.
Pets.
Holiday snaps / videos.
People going round the garden to get to the gate when telling you something.
Anything childbirth.
Anything celebrity.
Television.
My mum. She's one of those who drones on about Mrs Jones sister's brother in law's daughters cat.
Too many more to mention.
God, I've bored myself just thinking about it.

draughtycatflap · 09/01/2020 10:21

People explaining their dreams.

“It was really weird...”

“It was so vivid...”

“It felt so strange...”

You forgot to add ‘and really fucking tedious’ too.

Clawdy · 09/01/2020 10:57

DH droning on about politics.
DH droning on about bank accounts and savings.
Just DH droning on, basically! Grin

Sahara123 · 09/01/2020 11:16

Housework. So boring and then you’re supposed to do it again 3 days later.
Football.
Shopping as in randomly walking round shops looking at stuff. If I want something I’ll get online or go to one shop and buy it, if I really have to.

Hepsibar · 09/01/2020 12:03

Housework
Certain tasks at work
Studying something not really interested in

PixieDustt · 09/01/2020 12:14

My partner when he's trying to explain or say something that happened. SO TEDIOUS.

QuestionableMouse · 09/01/2020 12:41

My Auntie. I love her to bits and it's not actually her but since she had a fall a few weeks ago (and has been moved to a home for respite care) she's all my mam talks about. Every conversation is turned around to the minute details of what social services are doing, what (auntie) had to eat, what she was wearing, how she spent the day.... She's mam's sister in law so it's not like they're related by blood.

I bloody love both of them but could cheerfully throttle mam some days.

I'm I'm not getting the above, it's my mam's health problems, in too much detail.

SashayThatWay · 09/01/2020 12:59

Teenage DSD explaining why x friend isn't talking to y friend because z friend did something on frigging snapchat.

Apparently there was a HUGE nuclear fallout about socks yesterday. They all wore the same pair to school.

Took 55 mins to explain. Double confusing as ALL FRIENDS SEEM TO HAVE THE SAME FUCKING NAME!

Freyanna · 09/01/2020 14:07

Visiting my elderly relative who refuses to get a hearing aid because she doesn't like anything in her ears.

Everything has to be repeated countless times - 'Eh? What? You're not speaking loudly enough!'

I am hoarse by the time we leave!
