Coronation chicken, or anything slathered in mayo. Just not needed!!

okiedokieme · 07/01/2020 06:54

I don't like salad in a shop bought sandwich as it just doesn't stand up to being pre-packaged. I usually put salad in sandwiches I make at home.

Least favourite sandwich would be cucumber, staple of posh afternoon teas.

Tuna or fish absolutely horrible
My DM used to make a veggie spread with tomato, bread crumbs, mixed herbs, cheese and an egg.
It was yum.

bumblingbovine49 · 07/01/2020 07:39

Cheese. Can't bear cheese sandwiches. Cheese on crackers fine, cheese on toast fine. Pappy cheese sandwiches are just horrible. A bit of lettuce/ tomatoes make ls them edible but still not very nice IMO

Tuna, ham, chicken all.nice .IMO

Amyspickledlime · 07/01/2020 07:46

Apart from dog shit and tongue I like all of these. Cheese and raw onion is an awesome filling. Had it for lunch yesterday. We used to eat lemon curd sandwiches as kids, don't think I would want one now.

BillywigSting · 07/01/2020 07:46

Anything with fish (so tuna, prawn, salmon etc) or cucumber in.

Prawn. I love prawns but they're just all kinds of wrong in a sandwich.

birdsdestiny · 07/01/2020 07:50

Why are shop bought sandwichs invariably unpleasant? They seem to manage to produce a edible ready made salad.

OhNoMyCheds · 07/01/2020 07:51

BLT. The idea of greasy cold bacon again some anaemic tomato and floppy bacon makes me feel funny.

ploppypoppy · 07/01/2020 07:51

Cheese, cheese spread 🤮
Love a tongue mayo salad sandwich

Mammatino · 07/01/2020 07:53

Ham in stale wholemeal. I don't mind ham in a torpedo role with egg mayo though.

dayslikethese1 · 07/01/2020 07:54

I don't like most store bought sandwiches esp ones with meat in as they always look dodgy and the texture is off. Weirdly, I like store bought tuna sandwiches though, don't know why.

Notsure94 · 07/01/2020 08:06

More than one type of meat, e.g. chicken and bacon or bacon and sausage. I like tuna sweetcorn mayo when I make it but not shop bought. I don't like how shop bought sandwiches are always cold. I appreciate they have to keep them fresh but bread shouldn't be cold.

ginandgingers92 · 07/01/2020 13:01

Cheese and Onion 😷

vampirethriller · 07/01/2020 13:05

Plain cheese, it's boring. I don't hate it though and would eat it.

SlightlyStaleCocoPops · 07/01/2020 13:06

"However butter in any sandwich is completely unacceptable"

I thought I was the only one!

I love sandwich spread but its better on toast.

I think it's because most sandwiches fillings need to be kept in the fridge but bread really shouldn't be. So a sandwich that's been in a fridge for ages is never as nice as a freshly made one.

BearSoFair · 07/01/2020 13:34

Coronation chicken. Every now and then I get tempted and think 'ooh it's been ages since I've had one of those' and buy one then realise a few bites in it's because they're always disappointing!

BarbaraofSeville · 07/01/2020 13:39

Agree about the fridge thing. I only have prepacked sandwiches when I don't have time to get something hot as they're just so disappointing, especially if they're fridge cold, it just ruins them.

I also don't really like any that have chicken or tomato in or if margarine/spread has been used. Any time I look to buy one, it usually involves an internal rant about how nearly all of them have fucking chicken in them.

I don't mind them if it's something like prawn or egg mayonnaise, that cheese, spring onion and mayonnaise one or pastrami and cheese and it's been out of the fridge for an hour or two, but otherwise just no.
