What on Earth can I do with 460 cigarettes?

They were my Mum's.

I think they're worth about about £250 so don't really want to just throw them away. I honestly don't know anyone who smokes. I've asked local women's refuge and food bank and they don't want them. Although they were bought in UK (and so have had tax paid on them), I don't know where to sell them.

I don't want to make a profit from them as my Mum died from a smoking related illness, so anything I do make I'd donate to Cancer Research or similar, but just don't have a clue what to do.

Any suggestions?

If you seldom or never actually buy cigarettes over the counter, but rely on foraged tobacco or a supply chain of bootlegged/illegally imported cigarettes, raising the tax of legal, duty paid cigarettes simply won't affect you.

Just sell them to one of the many who have no doubt PM'd you by now.

They're gonna buy them elsewhere anyway so you may as well sell them to them and give the money to charity or buy something nice for yourself.

Maybe take a video of you burning them and post on social media to raise awareness? Might get as much awareness as a paid ad by cancer research, and it might just make someone quit?

SarahBeeney · 06/01/2020 22:48

I would hand them out to homeless people
if it were me.

...aaaaand get instantly branded as the local pyromaniac.

mumwon · 06/01/2020 23:00

got it! post them to Trump or Boris!

Where on earth could you do this? Shock

I don’t see how selling the fags and sending the proceeds to charity is any worse than the millions of Macmillan bake sales alongside the campaigns about how obesity gives you cancer.
I’d prob give to homeless anyway. They love fags and they’re expensive.

Please bin them. Smoking causes so many illnesses and diseases.
I am sorry about your Mum 💐

I seem to remember Nigel Farage saying that doctors are wrong about the health consequences of smoking (I believe he's also a climate change denier). Send them to him and tell him to enjoy.

Jellybeansincognito · 07/01/2020 09:56

No good will come from giving them away, at all.

Dispose of them and class that as your good deed.

TheFoxAndTheMole · 07/01/2020 11:09

"I think if it were me is write to all the secondary schools in the area" My mouth fell open as I read this! Though tbh on this thread I shouldn't be surprised. Kids are gonna smoke. They may as well not spend all their pocket money on them.

Did you deliberately misunderstand me or did I genuinely come across like I meant to give them out like sweets to children?

I meant for anti-smoking education in school, you warm fuzzy thing, you.

StealthPolarBear · 07/01/2020 17:05

I know, sorry should have said. That did become clear as I read on but it was just when I got to that bit... But then on this thread anything goes.

The twat waffle can come & sit with my folks for a bit then. Picture of health they are in their early 70s. Obviously their severe COPD & heart failure are caused by the wallpaper. Or their cardigans. Hmm

StealthPolarBear · 07/01/2020 17:15

What have they ever done to you that you'd inflict farage on them?
