Watching with interest. Best and cheapest for me lol

Bluesheep8 · 06/01/2020 16:13

Yep me too! Dyson Animal v8 died after just over 2 yrs so out of guarantee. Was crap anyway and I need a replacement quickly. I've heard Shark are good and have a 5 yr guarantee....

My Dyson V8 is in its death throes too after just over 2 years. I thought it was going to be amazing after reading all the reviews but is completely unreliable so watching with interest as looking for something else much cheaper.

I got a Gtech Air Ram recently, which is absolutely amazing if you ignore the ridiculous name. Small and light but so powerful it almost sticks to the carpet.

theoriginalmadambee · 06/01/2020 16:28

Shark 🤣. Had a similar thread to this one. I really like my shark.

Bluesheep8 · 06/01/2020 16:35

Hmmm, funny how Dysons are dying at just over 2 yrs old!

Shark!!! Love my shark! Works even in car hair and it's not the pet one.

motortroll · 06/01/2020 16:42

*on cat hair

theoriginalmadambee · 06/01/2020 16:45

Mine works on cat hairs too. Have a bald car so wouldn't know Grin.

springydaff · 06/01/2020 18:15

But which is the cheesiest?

How much are we taking?

JockTamsonsBairns · 06/01/2020 18:28

I've just been looking at one in Lidl for £29.99. It's bound to be crap isn't it?

Andonandonan · 06/01/2020 19:19

Everyone I know who has had a cordless shark has loved it at first but then found them rubbish.

I’ve just got a corded shark though - with the lift away it still has a lot of the versatility of a cordless.

My cordless dyson v8 also broke just after 2 years & was pretty hopeless towards the end. Plus I don’t like Mr Dyson’s attitude to brexit (promoting it then promptly moving his business out of the U.K.).

Floralnomad · 06/01/2020 19:23

We have a Dyson , a Bosch athlet and a couple of sharks and the Sharks are the best . My dsis has the latest Dyson and a gtech , the gtech is the worst , it’s really plasticky and looks like it will break at any minute .

Shmithecat2 · 06/01/2020 19:29

I was recently in receipt of a Dyson V11 Absolute. Its bloody marvellous. It's not my only vacuum, but it's now the one I reach for the most. I read up lots of tech reviews before purchasing and even in spite of the price, it's still the most widely recommended.

greeentopmilk · 06/01/2020 19:32

I have a
Hoover freedom lite (I think)
It's blue.

It's light and easy to manoeuvre, picks stuff up well. Cost about £80.

Hovverry · 06/01/2020 19:52

Bosch Athlet is badly designed, needs emptying and recharging every single time, ridiculously difficult on stairs. Wish I’d been told this before I bought it.

Caramelblonde · 06/01/2020 20:03

Just looking at my one,it's the blue Hoover freedom too!Had it 2 years used every day,and empty after each go round.Think it's better than dyson, paid about £75 for it on Amazon .

Frumpymummytotwo · 06/01/2020 20:07

I have a shark and love it. I even vacuum everyday now

Notwiththeseknees · 06/01/2020 20:09

Dyson V11 Absolute. I love mine to bits. I have a very moulty dog and it is amazing how much it picks up. I tried a friends cordless - think it was a Hoover and found it made my wrist ache as it felt unbalanced.

DramaAlpaca · 06/01/2020 20:09

I have a Vax but wouldn't recommend it. I wish I'd got a Shark.

LakeFlyPie · 07/01/2020 11:21

Watching with interest as we need a cordless vacuum which can deal with dog hair. Don't have the funds for a Dyson V11 (£500+ Shock). Am considering the cordless Shark.
Intrigued to know why people you know go off it after a while Andon

JoshMumsnet · 07/01/2020 11:29

Hi,

We did a review of the best cordless vacuums on the market around a year ago - it may of help. Obviously the newest, shiniest models weren't released when we made this, but it should hopefully still be useful.

MrsPerfect12 · 07/01/2020 13:02

Dyson have an outlet on eBay for refurbished/returned or ex display models.

Dyson V11

EllyDellgato · 26/01/2020 14:02

Strongly recommend Moosoo, normally £309 but found a cheaper one online, been using it ever since
