For me

  • diet bores
  • people who refer to ‘my husband/partner/boyfriend’ I’ve known you for 5 years if you say ‘John’ I know who you are talking about!
OP posts:
BaggaChips · 05/01/2020 10:52

The ones always going on about diets, slimming world, weight watchers, 'points' 'Syns' etc. Sick of being told how many points there are in my sandwich- fuck off diet bores.

The one who says she is always cold and sits in a skimpy t shirt with a hot water bottle and wrapped in a blanket having whacked the heating up to 'tropical' so everyone else is sweating. Put a jumper on you attention seeker.

The one who has issues with and complains bitterly about everything 'the management' do or ask us to do even though it's all pretty reasonable. Probably stemming from being a militant, management- hating TU Rep in her last role. Just leave if it's such a dreadful place to work (it isn't!).

iklboo · 05/01/2020 10:54

A coffee slurper who goes 'ahhhh' after every mouthful
People who ask utterly irrelevant questions at the end of meetings when we all want to go to lunch / go home
Lazy people
People who cherry pick the easy jobs
The guy behind me who talks so loudly you could hear him on Jupiter - and never about work

trappedsincesundaymorn · 05/01/2020 10:59

People telling me how to do my job when they've never done it themselves and have no fucking clue.
People who assume that because they work in the office and not on the production floor, they are superior....yes Jenny* from accounts I AM looking at you!!
People taking credit for an idea they didn't come up with, and when asked about the technicalities reply with..."oh Trapped can explain it much better than me"...of course I can , it was my bloody idea in the first place.

*not her real name obviously.

DeliberatelyAwkward · 05/01/2020 11:01

Someone who pretends to not understand.

A person requesting assistance makes a typo, or leaves out part of a reference number when corresponding about a particular matter. It would require only the tiiiiiiniest bit of basic inference skills to understand what the person meant. But no.

roisinagusniamh · 05/01/2020 11:04

Inflated sense of importance.
Always saying how busy she is....yet constantly on her phone.

Redcliff · 05/01/2020 11:05

The constant forgetting of previously discussed isses by the same person so every meeting you have to go over the same ground again and again. One of my incredibly calm colleagues lost it once with her in a meeting because of this - I was so applauding him in my head.

Gingerninja01 · 05/01/2020 11:09

The ones who dont actually do anything but become best mates with senior management and then middle management roles suddenly get invented and fall in their lap, despite the fact that other people (like me!) are doing the lions share of the actual work rather than schmoozing around directors offices. Not that I'm bitter about it or anything.
People who insist on coming into work long enough to spread germs and give you a horrible cold but then go off sick, meaning not only do you have their cold but also feel as though you can't also call in sick.
People who can see you are on your lunch break but still bother you with questions that could wait until you're back at your desk.
People who constantly tell you how snowed under they are and you end up having to cover meetings etc on their behalf yet whenever you happen to be near their desk they are online shopping.

Gemma2019 · 05/01/2020 11:11

Wedding planners - I sit near someone who has been planning the equivalent of a royal wedding during working hours for what seems like years now

People who take doctors and dentists appointments in the middle of the day so are out for most of the day

Dog and cat bores - no I don't want to see another clip of your pet doing something cute

People who are refused annual leave so ring in sick

People who talk to themselves about every single task they are doing

People who consistently call in sick on Mondays and Fridays but are never called out on it

Scrumptiousbears · 05/01/2020 11:11

The men in the office expect us girls to be the work wives and do everything for them.

One person whose not had the most money in life has recently some into some and speaks as if she's never know a financial struggle in her life. Makes constant comments like "I don't think spending £50k on a car is that much" and looks down on people who have to save for nice things.

rookiemere · 05/01/2020 11:15

People who come over to my desk and start talking about something without checking that I'm available to listen to them first. I find it very rude and intrusive and may have said so through my responses as now the worst offenders do check if I'm free before starting off.

Dollymixture22 · 05/01/2020 11:16

Constant complaining.

People having an unrealistic view of their abilities constantly maligning about not being promoted.

radioband · 05/01/2020 11:17

Bitching constantly!! It's been going on years and I'm so bored of hearing it. Contact cig breaks. Not working as team players as sorry I'm to busy.

Roominmyhouse · 05/01/2020 11:18

People who make a mountain out of the most simple tasks. Then constantly declare how busy they are while appearing to do naff all, because the rest of us are just sat there twiddling our thumbs! And they never offer to help others when they clearly could. These are the same people who then always most at their end of year review that they aren’t being graded high enough...

The part timers who book appointments like dentists or physio on their working days when they gave 2/3 non working days to do that type of thing. I get it when it’s GP/hospital appointments you can’t control but some people take the piss!

Aldidl · 05/01/2020 11:19

We have one really loud bore. She just won’t stop. On “transmit” constantly. When I first met her, I was quite admiring of her confidence, which I also mistook for intelligence.

She outed herself on that point when she interrupted a quiet conversation I was having with a colleague about his pregnant wife’s worries and anxieties about impending motherhood to loudly tell us that anyone who couldn’t breastfeed was just doing it wrong.

DeeCeeCherry · 05/01/2020 11:21

Noisy eater man

Blows nose hard & loud man

Know-it-all constantly chattering woman who disrupts both work & peace, + doesn't even finish her sentences aaaarrrgh!

roisinagusniamh · 05/01/2020 11:21

Scrumptiousbears
Are you working in an office set in the 1950?

Coughy4u · 05/01/2020 11:34

Constant weight and what are you eating today, then proceeding about how its healthy or not. It puts me off i just want to eat lunch in peace!

Smelly hot food eaten at desk

SimonJT · 05/01/2020 11:42

Our office is tiny.

Coworker who has really long false nails, they make a really awful noise when she types.

The general racism and homophobia, one in particular refers to me and the only other asian man by his name. We don’t look at all alike, we aren’t even the same ethnicity. I explained how this made me feel, now when we both need to have tasks allocated she either refers to me as “the other ” or attempts to indian-iffy my name and accent. I’m not indian, I have a very british name and a Nottinghamshire accent.

DeeZastris · 05/01/2020 11:52

Simon - you should think about reporting that to HR. sorry you are having to deal with that crap.

Gemma2019 · 05/01/2020 11:58

SimonJT - I can honestly say that if a person said something like that to me once it would be the last time they ever did it. You need to speak up loudly at the time about stuff like that or you'll get walked all over.

Dollymixture22 · 05/01/2020 12:00

Simon, you should not have to put up with that crap. Have you spoken to management.

The person doing this should be sacked.

QueenRefusenik · 05/01/2020 12:04

Non team players as several pps have said, especially the one who moan about others not being mean players! ("But WHY won't x agree to do my work for me?!").

Also, everyone in my team with the attitude 'oh, if I don't bother Queen will do it'. One of these days I'm just going to watch that dropped ball rolling on right out of the bloody door.
