What’s for breakfast?

Supposed to be on a diet but DD has requested fish finger sandwiches for breakfast.

I’ll be making mine with healthy bread and reduced sugar ketchup.

We've been invited to a friends for brunch so no idea but she's a great cook and he's a baker so it's bound to be lovely Smile

Hellokittymania · 04/01/2020 08:18

I am going to try and go to the Greek bakery and I'm hoping they will have the Christmas cookies that I love and a frappe. And if I'm really lucky, they will also have spinach pie.

Pipandmum

Trust mo on this and try it.

Break an egg in a bowl and separate the yolk. Put some thin slices of the salmon in the egg white and whisk lightly, you want slightly thicker than not whisked but not meringue.

Put the egg white and salmon in a frying pan (obviously hot) make a well / space and pop the yolk back in, add pepper.

I know it sounds like a faff for an egg but it is worth it.

@Hellokittymania

Spanakopita? I used to get that from the Greek bakery, when I lived in Aus. Wondering if there are any Greek bakeries in M/cr.

4 crackerbreads with a bit of butter on them

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 04/01/2020 08:34

Ooh, sashh, that sounds like a variation on an egg nest. I used to love them, but they're definitely weekend breakfasts.

All your lovely breakfasts are making me hungry! I've developed very boring food intolerances in the last 10 years (not allergies, not life threatening, but disastrous and uncomfortable digestive effects), so I won't be eating anything involving grains, eggs, avocado, blueberries, bananas or honey.

So it's either HM seed crackers and jam, or frozen cherries with yoghurt and seeds. Very delicious as a one-off, but boring in the long run! And another, very large, coffee.

Hellokittymania · 04/01/2020 08:37

Betty Jean, yes! I'm visually impaired the ones I use dictation, so unless I say it in Greek, there is no way dictation will write that correctly. Were you living in Melbourne by any chance? The Vietnamese food there is fantastic, but at that time I didn't speak Greek… So I missed out on all of the Greek food. I will have to go back.

Elderberry Syrup in hot water, two paracetamol, a Sudafed and antibacterial throat lozenges.

Currently debating whether to go back to bed, try to find some food in the house (no bloody bread, milk or cereal because DP is shit at planning shopping) or to keep googling what to do if you're ill when taking Humira, as it's either nothing much or OH MY GOD YOU'RE GOING TO DIE.

If that's the case, it looks as though I'm going to die fucking hungry. And in a foul mood.

I just had porridge this morning with dd2.
Dd1 had poached egg on toast.
Busy day today, dds haircuts, declutter the bedrooms, a long dog walk ready for eight 10-13yr old girls for a sleepover I stupidly agreed to after one to many New Year’s Eve drinks! 😂

sparklefarts · 04/01/2020 08:45

Two slices of toast (Aldi's toastie loaf as it's the best) spread with norpak (Aldi's almost identically lurpak)

One perfectly poached egg, go me!

And coffee

Am due on and have either pre period munchies so could eat that all again

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/01/2020 08:48

Poached eggs on toast for me, what I have most mornings. DS having porridge and an apple.

With the exception of Sundays where I make chocolate chip pancakes. Yum

onlyhereforthefood · 04/01/2020 08:54

Bacon, mushroom and black pudding in a roll for him
Bacon and mushroom roll for me.

:)

TooGood2BeFalse · 04/01/2020 08:54

We just had a brunch (not in UK) and we had an omelette with cheese, gammon and green peppers...and some baked beans Grin

BloodyCats · 04/01/2020 08:59

When I’m dieting I like half a banana with some peanut butter and seeds.

When I’m not dieting I’d do anything for an almond croissant

sashh · 04/01/2020 09:26

I have just remembered I have kippers in the freezer.

Soosiesoo · 04/01/2020 09:29

Porridge with honey and a cup of tea!

Hiphopopotamus · 04/01/2020 09:36

Sourdough toast with crunchy peanut butter. Usually would have something more fancy on a Saturday but I’m craving simplicity after the many excesses of Christmas!

sashh · 04/01/2020 09:42

I sometimes wonder why there isn't a restaurant that just serves breakfast items? I know lots of cafes / pubs open for breakfast but I mean one that just sells breakfast from around the world.

MinnieMountain · 04/01/2020 09:45

Full fat Greek yogurt, seeds, nuts and a satsuma.

DS had toast and marmite.

DH had spicy naan and homous.

MinnieMountain · 04/01/2020 09:47

sash that's a great idea. The breakfast at the Pakistani sandwich bar the other side of our city looks delicious but it's too far to go first thing.

SallyWD · 04/01/2020 09:48

Wholemeal bagels, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon

JorisBonson · 04/01/2020 09:49

DP is making smoked salmon, avocado and eggs on muffins. Tomorrow we'll have a Sunday fry up, my favourite time of the week 🤤

Michaelbaubles · 04/01/2020 09:50

Crepes with lemon and sugar, or Nutella, strawberries and squirty cream. Skinny little DD had three and was angling for another!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 04/01/2020 09:55

Toasted croissants are my new best thing

Bouledeneige · 04/01/2020 09:55

A bowl of Cheerios and a cup of tea
