January is the most popular time of year for booking a holiday. So have you booked yours yet?

lovemenorca but it can also attract the PP who can only afford one holiday a year and want to know what people are doing, and I assume that is much more the norm.

In RL we know very few people, if any, who do multiple holidays abroad every year, and most of our friends have a reasonable amount of income.

I am also surprised with all the knowledge we have now that people are flying so much.

DH and DC don't have passports at the moment so we've been enjoying breaks around the UK. City breaks are my favourite as I grew up in one and miss it so we have one booked to London this year but often go to Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh too (we're in Scotland so these are easier to get to.) We like places with museums and art galleries so hoping to go somewhere different this year but we won't know DH's annual leave for the year until the end of this month and we'll discuss options then. We went to York last year but there was so much we still hadn't seen there so that could be an option or somewhere new.

daydreambeleiver · 03/01/2020 12:36

Am browsing websites from my sofa (stupid cold) thinking a cruise from Southampton to avoid flying (unlimited luggage!)

IWishItWasSummer · 03/01/2020 12:37

Tenerife at Easter
Jamaica at the end of June
Mexico in September
Oban in October
We’ll do a couple of last minute UK city breaks in between.

daydreambeleiver · 03/01/2020 12:37

Oh and going to Scotland but that's staying with his family

iklboo · 03/01/2020 12:45

Somerset. We're having a few holidays in the UK over the coming years. We're not beach fans and weather doesn't really bother us.

Strokethefurrywall · 03/01/2020 12:52

I've already booked 6 weeks back to the UK over summer break (live in Caribbean).

Splitting the summer with DH, I'm bringing kids back to SW London to stay with my family for 3 weeks and then DH will fly in and take them up to his family in Scotland for 3 weeks.

Other than that, no plans so far. Might book a house in Jamaica in October midterm, New York November, and Christmas shopping weekend in Miami early December.

I'd love to be doing a couple weeks in Lindos, Rhodes as it's one of my favorite places in the world, but somewhat foolish switching one beach for another! Kids prefer city breaks and would complain going to another beach!

FuckingHateRats · 03/01/2020 12:53

We are doing a road trip.

Flying to Budapest - 5n in Croatia - 2n Lake Bled in Slovenia - 5n Austria - 3n in Budapest itself before flying home.

Pippapotomus · 03/01/2020 17:37

Easter trip on the Norfolk Broads for a week. We went last year as DS wanted to sleep in a boat, and I absolutely loved it! A whole week of floating around, it's the most relaxing holiday ever. The scenery is beautiful and even the DC get involved jumping off with ropes to park the boat.

In August we are doing a road trip to the Ardèche.

Theholidayarmadillo4 · 03/01/2020 17:38

Please tell me how you all afford holidays. Teach me your ways, we've not been anywhere since 2015!

Bluewavescrashing · 03/01/2020 17:40

DH gets a decent annual bonus of about 8k after tax which we use for holidays.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 03/01/2020 17:45

Barbados for a week at Feb half term and then two weeks in Thailand at Easter.

Camping in Wales for two weeks in the summer - we always camp in the summer holidays.

lovemenorca · 03/01/2020 17:50

Combination of decent income plus love of holidaying hence prioritise

CherryPavlova · 03/01/2020 17:52

Theholidayarmadillo4. Our children are now adults so a little cheaper and we don’t have to take them with us. No mortgage. Lower living costs.
Longer haul tends to be combined with working, so partly paid for.

Elderflower14 · 03/01/2020 17:53

Vienna next month for a mini break on my own......Very excited!

Skatesbythesea · 03/01/2020 17:57

Iceland in April/May for my 40th. It just looks so different and the trip has the right mix of city/nature/sport.

Loving all the European destinations - there so many great places to go in Europe in the warm months and they don't have to be costly!

ForalltheSaints · 03/01/2020 18:02

Oberammergau for the Passion Play (it's about an hour south of Munich).

Chanel05 · 03/01/2020 18:13

California, Las Vegas, Utah (in one trip). Fifth time going.

Theodoreb · 03/01/2020 18:16

Alton towers for a water park escape in February half term Alton towers again for theme park only in July and Disneyland Paris in October all for 3 nights each time Smile

NaughtyLittleElf · 03/01/2020 19:17

A week in the UK at Easter with my new(ish) DP and our combined dc, our first holiday together eek.

Eldest DD is going on a school holiday later in the year which is costing £££ so not sure what else we'll manage, probably a short European city break after exams and before schools break up, maybe another UK holiday in the summer, splitting accommodation costs with DP makes it much more affordable.

Chemenger · 03/01/2020 19:20

We’re in Norway now, skiing. Scotland at Easter, Boston in August.

NoFun21 · 03/01/2020 20:56

Climate crisis anyone? All this jetting about?

Celeriacacaca · 03/01/2020 21:15

Budapest for Easter (4 nights).
12 nights in Italy in July (flying in and out of Naples - booked flights yesterday so will book Airbnb's etc in coming weeks as we'll travel around).
A few days in Wales at Caswell Bay in October half term (without Dh or DCs) - bliss!
UK city break between Christmas and New Year.
May also have a wedding to go to in NZ in 2020 so would go for 8-10 days for that.

SusanneLinder · 03/01/2020 21:19

Going to Budapest on Monday for 3 nights. Break in Yorkshire in May. Dominican Republic in October ( but only cos DD is renewing wedding vows).
Cottage somewhere that allows us to take the dogs for a week.
We afford it because I don't have to worry about school holidays so book off peak. I wait till there are cheap flights and then use Trivago for hotels.

Butterflyflower1234 · 03/01/2020 21:35

I only have a few trips booked so far but I have the following.

Toulouse
St Lucia
Italy
The Maldives
Morocco
