Nothing on tv....but just seen this is on. Is it worth a watch?

Yeah, it’s quite feel good

Roselilly36 · 02/01/2020 20:56

Very marmite, I didn’t like it, but I have friends that love it, give it a try.

wowfudge · 02/01/2020 20:58

The songs are good, but the story is dire (and not true either). We watched it last Christmas and everyone was bored.

breakfastpizza · 02/01/2020 21:01

I thought it was brain dead. Very dull, non-story, interspersed with songs.

Overseasmom100 · 02/01/2020 21:04

Not selling it to me 😂

I loved it.

If you're not a fan of musicals, it's probably not for you. And don't read the real story first.

goldenorbspider · 02/01/2020 21:05

If you like bad luhrman you'll love it

NataliaOsipova · 02/01/2020 21:07

It’s truly cringe inducing. No other words for it.

wowfudge · 02/01/2020 21:08

Really? Moulin Rouge is a terrific film. The Greatest Showman is not. Stick it on in the background whilst you are doing something else would be my recommendation.

justthecat · 02/01/2020 21:11

Just put it on and go with it !

Noideawhatusername · 02/01/2020 21:15

I thought it was a true story Hmm

Macey78 · 02/01/2020 21:17

I'm not a fan of musicals but loved this.

flatpack1 · 02/01/2020 21:20

I thought it was a true story
It was. But not this version.

WellErrr · 02/01/2020 21:23

I love musicals but thought this was dreadful.

Then when I googled PT Barnum and found out what type of man he actually was, I thought the film was in disgustingly bad taste.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 02/01/2020 21:24

Yeah I really didnt enjoy it and my MN standards I enjoy tripe (Love Actually as an e.g.!)

Yetanotherwinter · 02/01/2020 21:24

Two hours of your life you’ll never get back. It was absolute shite.

EvilPea · 02/01/2020 21:26

Yes. By all accounts (except this one) barnham was a prick. I’d also be livid if I was related to Jenny lind

Can’t get over the sad tale of jumbo the elephant.

Wasn’t a fan of the film, but dh loves it.

CallofDoodee · 02/01/2020 21:27

The plot was a massive load of bollocks but the songs made up for it so I think it's worth a watch.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/01/2020 21:29

I love the soundtrack

passthebucky · 02/01/2020 21:30

I love it

flatpack1 · 02/01/2020 21:32

It is truly awful. Not helped by the fact I had recently seen Alladin which was a masterpiece.

123456abcd · 02/01/2020 21:32

Marmite - I turned it off after 10 mins (was watching whilst on a plane),

wowfudge · 02/01/2020 21:34

Barnham was 1. much older than Hugh Jackman when he set up the venture the film is based on; and 2. the film is a highly romanticised take on his business.

IHateBlueLights · 02/01/2020 21:35

Grim as a very grim thing.

breakfastpizza · 02/01/2020 21:40

I love musicals and I loved Moulin Rouge but I hated this.
