Hahaha @lotusbell

There’s not so big a speed difference from my running to walking that that’s an issue

lotusbell · 21/01/2020 19:19

@CormoranStrike, you've got a point there, me too!!

ThursdayLastWeek · 22/01/2020 09:44

W3R1 done. Change of route next time I think, somehow both the 3 min runs were solidly uphill. Not fun, especially with a reluctant dog in tow. Bloody cold too, but now I can feel pleased with myself for the rest of the day.

W3R3 done before 6 this morning! I start W4 on Friday, and although cold, not frosty nor forecast to be so early morning runs are possible. I have been working out flattest route possible so far, zizagging through residential streets and doing what Strava shows as a series of 8s. Now feel I am not playing the game as I hear of you lot tackling hills! Not going to start that a I enter a new week, but I should think about route incorporating something maybe for R3. I live in a hilly area so the route I do won't last more than next week when I need further to go!

myfuckingfreezer · 22/01/2020 11:13

Woooooeeee hats week 4 run 1 done - a bit of a increase! Was absolutely bricking in when I started as the running times were so much longer and the walking breaks so short!

Not going to lie it was hard, but other than taking a 30second break in the final run I did it all! Even managed to run much faster and now feel FANTASTIC!

Go for it everyone, even if it looks impossible we can always slow down and repeat weeks. Will all be worth it in the end.

sovielverloren · 22/01/2020 11:29

@myfuckingfreezer well done! I am one run behind you so am feeling encouraged. I have not felt to stretched this week so hoping that stands me in good stead for week 4.

Macandcheeseplease · 22/01/2020 13:05

W3R1 done - ooh. It ramps up a bit doesn't it?? Managed to do it though. My running speed is very slow but to be honest if that's what I need to do to get through then I'm fine with that! Surprised that I'm managing to do it all. And that im actually sticking with it - obviously only on week 3 but I've never enjoyed any other exercise before.

lotusbell · 22/01/2020 14:42

I am definitely not aiming at increasing my speed, sometimes I feel I'm actually either going backwards or jogging on the spot! Start W3 on Thursday so will see how I get on and will repeat if I need to. Its stamina I need to build on, not speed. I'm not competitive with myself at all really, maybe that will gradually build as I get further into it, but if not, that's ok with me!

frustratedashell · 22/01/2020 20:15

Knee still giving me gip but the pain is easing. Just got to be patient, so hard. I wanna run!

Currently stuck at Week 3, Run 2. Toying with the idea of buying decent running shoes.

beenrumbled · 23/01/2020 06:36

WK3R2 done last night - it was actually better than R1, my leg was not as uncomfortable and my breathing ok.

Going to get a sports bra next week.

I think we should all be pleased with ourselves. I still don't like doing it, but do like the sense of achievement when it's done.

mouldygrapes · 23/01/2020 10:17

Agh, I haven’t run at all this week! Still feeling pants, but also feeling guilty for not keeping at it.
Might see if I can manage a run later as I really do want to stick with it and you’ve all been so inspiring

myfuckingfreezer · 23/01/2020 10:38

I felt so pleased and euphoric after my run yesterday....but as the day wore on I realise I've done something to my knee Sad hopefully just a twist but week 4 was such a step up I'm not surprised.

Ulysses · 23/01/2020 14:45

Aw that's too bad @myfuckingfreezer - hope it's nothing serious. I did Wk4R1 myself today and it was fine. I've got a nice circuit for it along the main road for a bit, double back and do the last 5 minutes run in the woods. It's fairly flat as well though I was well sweaty afterwards.

CormoranStrike · 23/01/2020 16:47

W4R2 done - I found it less painful than Tuesday, and at the end of the final five minute run I didn’t immediately slow down. I actually kept running for a bit.

A few times I tried to lengthen my stride and speed too, but that is very much a work in progress.

First run I have done with my dog too!

CormoranStrike · 23/01/2020 20:08

I took my dog out for his last walk of the night tonight - and spontaneously started jogging at one point; what’s got into me?

Grin
lotusbell · 23/01/2020 21:26

Well done everyone!

redavocado · 23/01/2020 21:50

Yay! Well done everyone, especially in the cold! Running this week has been much less enjoyable and I'm now stuffed up with a cold so not sure when I'll get out next.

On the plus side I did get gait analysis and new trainers today so I'm looking forward to trying those out in week 5! Shock

BreastOfIntentions · 23/01/2020 22:40

Hope your knee is ok freezer! Big congrats to us all as we plod along. W5 R2 here - this week the running and walking plans vary by run! I’ve really surprised myself by being able to manage these 8 mins run with relative ease (compared to weeks 3-4 when I wasn’t convinced I could get to the end of a single run!)

IsolaPribby · 23/01/2020 22:57

Did W3R1 this afternoon, and as said up thread, it is a definite step up! I found the 3 minute runs hard, but I did them! And in a way it was easier only having 4 runs to do.

We are all keeping going, well done to everyone!

redavocado · 24/01/2020 07:11

That's really reassuring breast! I've seen those 8 min runs coming up and it's worried me slightly. I'm really enjoying this program though - it does push you but each time it gets harder, it is still achievable.

CormoranStrike · 24/01/2020 07:20

Yes, I like four longer runs over five shorter, hopefully that’s my body getting GV more resilient and able for the 5k

sovielverloren · 24/01/2020 07:44

W4R1 this morning and I did it!! I am surprising myself every time! I felt a bit more ploddy by the end and it was by no means a swift method of movement, but...I ran for 5 minutes twice which seems like a massive achievement within 20 days!
I am also really surprised at my motivation. I genuinely had to convince myself that I should rest yesterday and not fit in a run (into a ridiculously busy evening anyway).
Sorry to hear that illness/injury/life is slowing people down.

CormoranStrike · 24/01/2020 10:58

Good going @sovielverloren

IsolaPribby · 24/01/2020 12:10

Is anyone else finding that their brisk walk covers more ground than the jog? HmmConfused

CormoranStrike · 24/01/2020 13:08

I’m fairly convinced mine are about the same.
