Massager?

Does anyone have one of those electric massaging pads or pillows? I have an ongoing ache in my shoulder muscles and wonder if one might help...

I have two. A zillion zx massage pillow and a newer one that I got for Christmas which has straps that you put your arms into.

I love them both. The first one is regularly down to about £35 on Amazon. It can be difficult to position though.

I'm not sure how much the second one was but I think I prefer this one. The straps make it easy to rest your arms in and apply the right pressure.

TheChippendenSpook · 01/01/2020 22:09

The relief you get from them is immense by the way!

isshoes · 01/01/2020 22:10

Thank you! Is the new one also by Zillion ZX?

I’ve had this for years and it’s amazing. I’ve given it to several people as a gift and really can’t recommend it highly enough. The price varies wildly and it’s higher at the moment but it’s still the price of a single massage and will last you years and years.

The heat is one of the best things and you can use it on your neck and shoulders, lower back, back of thighs etc.

This just made me lol but I do sort of want one!

I’m plugging in right now!

Thank you! It's never before occurred to me to get one of these contraptions until I read a Buzzfeed article earlier today (don't think I really knew they existed), and now I want one more than I can possibly put into words...

The new one is this one www.amazon.co.uk/Shiatsu-Back-Neck-Shoulder-Massager/dp/B074S9BJ6B?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

AnneLovesGilbert · 01/01/2020 23:31

Get one!

Tip if you use it on your lower back, fold a blanket or towel in half and put it between you and the massager so it gets your achy bits but doesn’t rub on your skin. I ended up slightly bruised after using it to work out some kinks.

EnidButton · 02/01/2020 00:30

Well these look amazing! Thank you for asking iss. I get bad headaches from neck pain regularly, one of these could really help.

ShoppingBasket · 02/01/2020 00:43

I got one in lidl recently it really kneads you. Sore but good! I😊 I usually need someone to apply hard pressure to my shoulder blade but this helps

EnidButton · 04/01/2020 00:32

I'be ordered the one from Anne's link. Should be here tomorrow. I've had bad neck headaches (cervicogenic) this week again so fingers crossed it helps. Has very good reviews.

isshoes · 04/01/2020 08:43

Me too @EnidButton. I'm very excited!!

This is an interesting thread - thank you for starting it OP.
I get frequent headaches and neck pain but struggle to get regular massages. I've never considered one of these but it could be just the job! I'd love to hear first thoughts from those who have just ordered but I think I'll be putting this onto my shopping list for February!

novacaneforthepain · 04/01/2020 09:42

I just ordered one too. Hope your getting commission Wink

isshoes · 04/01/2020 19:36

Well, to (mis)quote F. Scott Fitzgerald; 'I love it and that's the beginning and end of everything.'

Ha! I wish Smile

Happy to share the joy though and hope it works for you all. If I had the time and money I’d still get a monthly massage by a therapist but I’m on maternity leave and have neither so I’m glad I already had one and I don’t use it as often as I used to but this has reminded me I should.

toomuchlikemyusername · 04/01/2020 21:08

@isshoes Has your's arrived? You like it then? I might not be able to wait until February at this rate!

isshoes · 04/01/2020 21:13

Yes it's arrived today. I do love it! I'm going to have a go again later. It seemed to get my shoulder in just the right spot Smile

Ooh how exciting! Thanks for the update.

EnidButton · 05/01/2020 00:14

Ooh glad you like it Iss Smile

My first impressions after just one use is I like it too! The real test will be when my neck has a real flare up but it felt very good after just 5 minutes. My muscles were much more relaxed and I actually felt sleepy. Going to have another go now.

Very glad you started the thread Iss Cake

EnidButton · 05/01/2020 00:15

And thanks for the recommendations Anne and Chip

novacaneforthepain · 05/01/2020 18:35

I got mine today and love it

EnidButton · 11/01/2020 23:48

Just wanted to update on my previous first impression. I had one of my bad neck headaches that floored me for a day but when I felt a little better that evening, I used the massager and it really helped ease the pain. Next day the headache was gone. Usually they last at least two days, even with painkillers and DH rubbing my neck. So it's been a great buy for me. Smile

isshoes · 16/01/2020 00:04

That's brilliant! I got my parents to try it the other day and they were sold instantly.
