Massager?

Does anyone have one of those electric massaging pads or pillows? I have an ongoing ache in my shoulder muscles and wonder if one might help...

I've had these on my Amazon wish list for ages now, but haven't yet taken the plunge. Do you think it would give relief from the pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis?

isshoes · 16/01/2020 12:58

I wouldn't know @JockTamsonsBairns but perhaps if you do a search on the Amazon reviews you might find the answer?

Thanks for your reply @isshoes. I've had a look through the reviews, none make particular reference to RA, so I'm not sure.
It was a gift idea for my DM, but she's in her 80s with quite thin skin as well as RA. I can't quite get a handle on how "robust" the massaging is - I don't think she'd like to get pummelled! Grin

@JockTamsonsBairns - they are really quite 'robust' with the massage! Great for breaking down the knots in my shoulders, especially with the heat but it might be too rough for someone who's a bit frail.

isshoes · 16/01/2020 14:42

@JockTamsonsBairns get one for yourself - you won't regret it. Then your mum can have a test run!! Grin

Just seen this. I'm very tempted as I have such a tight neck, traps and shoulder. I would have thought it was just a good sales pitch but the reviews look amazing!

I’ve just ordered one, too. Don’t want to be left out. I don’t know why I have shoulder pain but have spent out on a new pillow and this. Hope it works for me like it has for pp.

Jock It's heavier than I expected. Not really heavy but not very light either. It's no problem once it's on the shoulders/neck but getting it up there for someone with flexibility and mobility issues could be tricky. If your Mum has problems with her wrists or elbows she might find it awkward to position. You could always get one, try it out yourself and return it if you decide it's not right.

Or I think I've seen ones you can attach to a chair and then leave there.

I have joint and muscle pain caused by inflammation. It is soothing but the modules are hard plastic with no padding between them and your body so might be too hard on a more delicate back.

Luv If your new pillow is good, pl add let us know! Always on the hunt for the perfect pillow. Haven't found it yet.

Heavy= Just to clarify, it isn't heavy at all really. Just when I had a flare up last week and my arms were feeling achy and weak, it was a bit of effort to get it in place.
