Well Craig David is a bit shit isn't he?

Couldn't be arsed to go out tonight so was hoping for some decent tv - but Craig David as the main NYE thing? Why? Madness were fab last year as was Nile Rogers the year b4. Is he really that popular? Maybe I'm just an old fart.

I once fucked up a job interview as the company worked with CD (in the early days) and I confessed my love for him just a bit too much BlushWink

Offredismysister · 01/01/2020 00:26

Well I love the man. I saw him in concert the first time around & I may have just been looking at how much tickets are to see him at ibiza rocks 😂

OfMe · 01/01/2020 00:27

Nope - DH and I were quite happily watching the end of Mrs Maisel (got a bit bummed out though) so once it finished we went through BBC and it was exactly the same - 'oh, the fireworks just look a mess, Craig David is shit, Rick Astley - who are these dinosaurs they're pulling out' and we switched off. Seriously, CD was at his height in 2000 and RA in 1987. Shows how badly we're suffering for the lack of support in music education in the country. Either that or how little they're paying.

QueenOfOversharing · 01/01/2020 00:28

Stood behind him in Starbucks about 15 years ago & told DS(6) "that's Craig David" ... we left Starbucks & DS ran up to him totally unprompted by me but he just asked him if he was, in fact, CD. I reckon I was sussed as CD said "who told you that?" DS just swung round & pointed. Fucking kids. Hmm

MnMShad · 01/01/2020 00:29

I switched over to BBC2 and got Rick rolled.Grin

Stravapalava · 01/01/2020 00:29

He's a good DJ! Loving his remix just now.

TheTinselrati · 01/01/2020 00:31

His DJ set it brill.

ChristmasCroissant · 01/01/2020 00:33

They could just replay the Nile/Chic concert every year for me, I liked that one. We are watching CD as DD wanted to (and I don't think she recognised anyone on the Hootenanny tbh).

everylittlethingshedoesismagic · 01/01/2020 00:33

Did some tv exec really sit in a meeting and say - I know let's her Craig David to see in the next decade - ffs!! I won't be watching next year - Shalimar nearly finished me off a few years ago but this is a new low

Badtasteflump · 01/01/2020 00:33

Still not enjoying it. Doesn't a DJ set mean you shut up and mix some stuff? Why couldn't they have got Fat Boy Slim?

Despite myself I respect the guy for making a com

Well he still pretty ripped .....

Well Craig David is a bit shit isn't he?
misspiggy19 · 01/01/2020 00:35

He’s such a genuinely lovely bloke, unusual in ‘the industry’, I think he’s doing a good job and deserves the NYE gig

^This. I’m watching it and enjoying it so far. Better than Madness last year which was shit.

Dementedmagpie · 01/01/2020 00:36

DH: bloody hell I didnt wait up til midnight to watch Craig David. I just find it impossible to look at or hear Craig David without thinking of bo selecta.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 01/01/2020 00:36

but what really irritated me was the twonk they had interviewing him. Where do they get them from?!?! Or am I showing my age?
Err NoShit that Twonk is Shirley from Wham's son. AKA Roman Kemp as in Martin Kemp of Spandau's son also.

NYE tele was total shit until the 3 Lions song lit up the fireworks and then it got a bit better.

Overseasmom100 · 01/01/2020 00:36

NO!!!! He's great in his 2nd set...loving it. Made my night which was miserable until now Grin

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 01/01/2020 00:37

Scotland had the glittering Alesha Dixon last year and a fucked Travis tonight! Aren't we lucky!

I'm very disappointed by Hogmanay Live this year. Yes, I really like Susan Calman and Des Clarke, and it would be great to have them included. But no Jackie Bird? And no Phil & Aly? Travis are OK, but you can hear run-of-the-mill pop music all throughout the year - Hogmanay is meant to be something a bit different. They barely even bothered with a countdown - just Des counting weakly down on his own from 5. No several minute timer and snapshots of great throngs of people across Scotland bellowing each number.

NOW they tell us - it looks like BBC Alba has taken over from the 'main' channels with the good traditional folk music.

TheTinselrati · 01/01/2020 00:37

Oh Lost half that quote!!!

Despite myself I respect the guy for making a come back after being rip to shreds years ago.

bluebell34567 · 01/01/2020 00:38

couple of years ago bryan adams was good.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 01/01/2020 00:38

Julie Fowlis was the only memorable part of it this year - and she wasn't on for very long at all.

Wanderingraspberry · 01/01/2020 00:39

Such a bad choice!

SoleBizzz · 01/01/2020 00:40

Scotland had Travis? Oh I love them!!!! Need to find it on Youtube or sumfink

GabsAlot · 01/01/2020 00:41

Deadheadstickeronacadillac · 01/01/2020 00:41
