How did your decade pan out?

For me it started in a middling way trying to get myself in a good place to get out of a going nowhere waste of time relationship and ended up happily married :)

Lost a couple of cats along the way but gained two guinea pigs and another cat

Got made redundant after 11 years in same job in 2013 but found current job the following year

Overall personally it's been the best decade of my life :)

Highs and lows - as most decades I guess - but these feel like a lower working average than I would like

Aggregate weight gain 9kg

10 rounds IVF and 4 years in adoption system gave me my family - boundless love and joy at the expense of all my savings and my looks

Steady decline in health of my marriage to a low plateau. It could go any moment or I could accept companionship. 10 years ago I still thought I had a partner

I've found out who my friends are, and love them all the more for it

My DF started the decade the cleverest man in the room and ends it incontinent and incoherent. Dementia is a bitch

5 jobs in 3 companies with increasing seniority and pay and decreasing job satisfaction and work/life balance each time

Much less money and no hobbies compared to the savings and interests I had in 2010

On reflection, I did achieve the things I set out to, but at a high personal cost. Hoping for a better balance in the next decade.

Still happily married, still in the same job. I ended up not being able to have children. My best friend died. My two lovely dogs died. My husband nearly died, but seems ok now. I’m hanging on!

The worst decade of my life. Full of really difficult situations. Lost a close family member and parents in law plus sister in law.
A lot of illness and depression in the family.
A lot of severe stress.
Two house moves.
Ending the decade NC with a close family member and feeling I really have had enough of my siblings.
I really hope things get better. It’s tested me to breaking point.

It's so amazing what can happen in a decade.

I started mine on a beach in India celebrating turning 30, in reality I was miserable in my relationship.

Then had a sports injury that led to me quitting my job, moving home, ending my relationship.

Since then I:

Changed careers
Saved for a deposit
Landed 'dream' job
Bought a lovely home
Got promoted

I was just about ready for a relationship, then I had a sudden onset illness, three months off work and a life changing diagnosis! Talk about a major curve ball.

In the highs and lows of recovery I got myself into debt.

I've just now repaid a major one of the debts and I feel so much more free!

I am sat here tonight making plans for all the amazing things that people should do I want to do when they come out of treatment.

Only took me three and a half years!

Groups and activities to join, things to try, goals.

I could not be ending the decade more meaningfully and in touch with myself.

Mine was mostly good but not without challenge.....

Had DS2
Lost 2 family members to prolonged illness
My DM has had a full nervous breakdown which still is very hard to deal with and is likely to be going into this decade
DFIL nearly died but is now recovering which is amazing
The strain of parents being ill has impacted our marriage
Got a dog who I love
Changed jobs twice and paid off our mortgage
Now in very senior job role which is great financially but puts me and the family under a lot of pressure.
Gained a few very good friends and kept some amazing old ones.
DS1 has become a teenager a whole other challenge.
