And if so, why?

Its 5.41 am here, My ds(6) fell out of his bed an hour ago. He's gone back to sleep, the baby is still asleep, dp is still asleep but I'm now wide awake after consoling ds.

Yes I'm up. I'm a childminder and my first children are arriving at 06.30 today.

Bitofnamechanging · 31/12/2019 05:44

I'm awake. The one year old woke at four and I haven't settled since. I'm just laying waiting for the kids. Would love a cuppa but the alarm is on downstairs

Deckthehallswith · 31/12/2019 05:47

Wisest that is an early start. What time will the last child go home today?

Bitofnamechanging what time can you head downstairs? I think you deserve a cup of strong coffee

About 17.30. is only one day a week and they are the most lovely family. Not sure I'll be awake at midnight though!

Thewayforward · 31/12/2019 05:48

Yep awake here too. Only managed 2 hours but that's another story.

Snowflake9 · 31/12/2019 05:49

Up since 5 with DS who is 4mo. Messy nappy. First feed. Need to go and make packed lunches now (DH for work, one for me so I have something prepared for the day)

I miss sleep

surlycurly · 31/12/2019 05:49

I've been awake since 3.40am. Am hoping to eventually get back to sleep! Insomnia sucks

fantasmasgoria1 · 31/12/2019 05:54

Awake since 1.30 because km in a lot of pain 😔

MynameisJune · 31/12/2019 05:56

Been up since 5am with DD2 7 months. She’s teething I think and is already pretty miserable. Roll on nap time.

Deckthehallswith · 31/12/2019 05:56

Wisest I think I will be the same, in bed long before midnight.

Thewayforward I hope everything is ok there, will you be able to try and rest today?

Snowflake is the 4 month old sleeping through or have you been awake through the night also? At least you will have a lunch prepared when you're hungry, that's a really good idea.

Surlycurly that does sound tough, I went through a period like that a few months ago and it was so draining

loubieloo4 · 31/12/2019 05:58

I haven't been asleep yet, insomnia is shit!

Deckthehallswith · 31/12/2019 05:58

Fantas I hope you are okFlowers

June, does it look like the teeth are near to cutting through? It's so tough for them. Will she nap soon or are you facing a long morning?

Deckthehallswith · 31/12/2019 05:59

O dear loubie, I really hope you manage to fall asleep soon

Simonsaysitschristmas · 31/12/2019 05:59

Woke up at 3.30 and struggling to get back off. I’m hoping I’m going to be able to get some sleep in before tonight.

HelloIsitXmasTreeYoureLookingF · 31/12/2019 05:59

fantas what's caused it? I haven't slept, want breakfast soon

JudgeRindersMinder · 31/12/2019 06:00

I’ve not been to sleep yet! I’m just a chronically poor sleeper. Thinking about getting up shortly to do some stuff for New Years dinner tomorrow

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 31/12/2019 06:01

Been up since 4.45 with ds 5 month, fed, changed and back down to sleep. In expressing then going back to bed for a, couple of hours, might sleep, might not. DH alarm will go off at 7 to get ready for work, so likely I won't go back to sleep and I'm up for the day.
That's a long day @WisestIsShe are they the same children from 6.30-17.30 or do your early arrivals get collected earlier and the late leavers arrive later?

Snaleandthewhail · 31/12/2019 06:02

Yup. 14 month old is a crap sleeper. Usually she’s in my bed but her brother is in there and it’s a bit crowded for two more so I’m in her room trying to persuade her to go back to sleep.

Also a friend of mine is on the beach on Mallacoota. I confess every time I’m slightly awake I’ve been checking for updates from there.

I will not be seeing midnight...

darkriver19886 · 31/12/2019 06:04

I am up. Been sat up in bed since 5 am. Hope your DS is okay. I couldn't sleep at all.

SkiingIsHeaven · 31/12/2019 06:09

I haven't slept yet. I am full of cold and my nose won't stop running. I am going hot and cold and have a sore throat and banging headache.

Meant to be having 9 adults and 5 kids for a New Year's Eve party.

Feel like I am drowning in my runny nose stuff. I might just give up on sleep for tonight.

Dreading the day ahead feeling like this.

JonnyPocketRocket · 31/12/2019 06:10

I've been awake since 11pm because the baby has a cold and will only sleep on my chest. Definitely not going to be seeing in the new year if I can help it!

Deckthehallswith · 31/12/2019 06:13

@Snaleandthewhail I was just reading about Mallacoota, it's so awful for all those on the beach.

Thanks @darkriver, he is ok, he's just going through a tough few days as he has the chicken pox.

So many people here that haven't slept at all Sad.

Up since 4. Jet lag from visiting family overseas for Christmas.

RemoveAllPicturesOfRon · 31/12/2019 06:41

Sharing a bed with DD5 at a relative’s house and she is thrashing about... Managed to quietly make a coffee AND locate the biscuit tin in the dark though

Deckthehallswith · 31/12/2019 06:54

@removeallpictures I am also enjoying coffee and biscuits right now Grin I'll miss the chocolate breakfasts once Xmas is over
