What day is it? How are we all bearing up with the weird week between Xmas and new year

Despite being back in work for some of it I am utterly disoriented and barely know what day it is but am actually enjoying the downtime.
Not ready for proper routine yet
Off to winter wonderland later with dc's and partners and then home for a board game and chips
New Year's Eve still seems like an age away
Anyone else enjoying it or a people craving normality?

Have abandoned any semblance of motivation and have done nothing more constructive than drink coffee Grin

I've been unwell since 23rd so I'm not as enthusiastic as i would be usually. This means that the house is a mess and nothing is being organised because god forbid the rest of the family should do it My days currently will need to be filled with laundry & food shopping and it feels like new year is an age away.

TSSDNCOP · 29/12/2019 10:57

I am beginning to feel rested. I went to the gym this morning. The last time I went was Christmas Eve and I could barely be bothered to do anything. Today I have attacked it. I think my brain was so tired it was dragging my body with it. Is that possible!

I'm working tomorrow and actually looking forward to it. I've had 7 days off now, I'm ready to go back.

Hungover today after a house party last night so we'll walk the dog, have a bit of a tidy up, day on the settee, takeaway, early night tonight.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 29/12/2019 10:59

I think mental exhaustion definitely impacts on you physically
I went to the gym yesterday and definitely slept better for it

I've enjoyed myself up until today but now I just want to get the house organised. If we get on with it today then I'll be able to enjoy next week a lot more. I'm a teacher so I have all of next week off (although I'm going in for one day).

Yes me too!I may clean out the kitchen cupboards.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 29/12/2019 11:08

Have to tidy up a bit
Hope the coffee comes with a shot of motivation Grin

I’m loving it. It’s the one time of year where you feel like it’s acceptable to stay in pyjamas all day, eat what you like and not be busy and rushing about.

BraveSpiritKindHeart · 29/12/2019 11:29

I've only had 2 days off for Christmas and have worked this weekend (nhs) so it feels like a normal week to me. I also work New Year's Eve as it's a normal working day in a hospital. Looking forward to a bit of annual leave in January!

Horsemad · 29/12/2019 11:55

We were only saying yesterday that this year it seems like a long time between Christmas & New Year. Not sure why, as we've done our usual routines but it definitely does!

Waterandlemonjuice · 29/12/2019 11:56

Craving normality here. But as I’ve only been awake for an hour and am sitting eating left over pizza in my pyjamas that’s a way off yet.

SunshineAngel · 29/12/2019 12:00

I always love this time of year. I find Christmas Day quite stressful for family reasons, but the time between Christmas and New Year is my chill time, and I love it.

That being said, I also look forward to going back to work (Jan 2nd this year), as it's been a nice long break, but getting back into a routine of work and the gym feels good, too.

I've actually been far busier than I would like this year - three evening meals out - whereas normally I would literally just sit inside and watch TV and eat chocolate!

LittleAndOften · 29/12/2019 12:04

I've got my parents and brother staying. And I've got a cold. And a newborn who won't sleep. And a 4 yr old. And a DH who keeps finding DIY jobs to do and disappearing into the garage.

I just want to go back to bed!

ssd · 29/12/2019 12:10

Yep, Crimbo Limbo.

Pascha · 29/12/2019 12:14

I'm at work (lunch break) It's wonderful. Normality has resumed. DH and the boys are home, I think he has them tidying and sorting bedrooms to take the avalanche of crap they've been gifted.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 29/12/2019 12:20

Started in a mini house blitz
More Brew drunk
Need to clear a bit more crap and then off out and miracle of miracles the sun is actually shining

Fizzypoo · 29/12/2019 12:23

I'm enjoying the christmas limbo. I've had the energy to potter around and do odd jobs that I don't normally have the time to do/energy to think about.

This week is my favourite week of the year.

AlunWynsKnee · 29/12/2019 12:24

I'm getting cabin fever now so I've arranged to meet friends for a walk this afternoon. We have plans for tomorrow and NYE so I should be good for a few more days on the sofa before going back to work.

SagelyNodding · 29/12/2019 12:28

This year I'm finding the limbo week very long! No motivation for housework or cooking, but it has been lovely to have some time for long walks and seeing friends.
Might have to venture to the supermarket though as the Christmas leftovers are running out! Or, might just watch Netflix and hope to discover something in the freezer

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 29/12/2019 12:41

Am working tomorrow and then the rest of the week off
Will eventually blitz the house properly but for now there's chocolate to be eaten
Dreading the early dark mornings in January Sad

It's really dragging for me, and I've woken up with a sore throat and bad stomach, so may have to cancel meeting a friend tomorrow if I'm still not well. I was looking forward to getting out the house for a few hours. May go for a long soak in the bath with a lemsip in a bit and hope I can shake it.

SunshineInMySprocket · 29/12/2019 14:13

I am finding it hard, I’m all out of sorts and no idea what I should be doing or where I should be doing it. I am going into work on day before 5th as I fear I left a mess when I finished for the holidays!

Foslady · 29/12/2019 14:48

Tomorrow will be the first day that I haven’t had to entertain anyone. Most of it I’ve enjoyed........but could have seriously done without dmum inviting herself to stay for another night last night. DP and I got engaged on Christmas Day - other than Christmas dinner and dashing to the shops we have had zero time on our own, and now he’s really bad with cold.....🤦🏻‍♀️

Topsy44 · 29/12/2019 14:56

So far I am loving it. I found Christmas quite stressful as had my Mum for 2 nights and she did nothing but criticise my house! Its just been me and my DD for 3 days and apart from a couple of trips to the supermarket we've just pottered about doing our own thing. Life is usually so hectic, it feels like bliss just to be able to unwind, eat lots of rubbish and relax. As Fizzypoo (love the name by the way) says I actually feel like I have some energy (well, I did this morning, it seems to have waned a bit now) to do some tidying/sorting/jobs that I have been putting off.

Off to see some relatives tomorrow, desperately hoping it will be cancelled really. I could quite happily do with another day just pottering about at home.
