What day is it? How are we all bearing up with the weird week between Xmas and new year

Despite being back in work for some of it I am utterly disoriented and barely know what day it is but am actually enjoying the downtime.
Not ready for proper routine yet
Off to winter wonderland later with dc's and partners and then home for a board game and chips
New Year's Eve still seems like an age away
Anyone else enjoying it or a people craving normality?

I hate the week between Christmas and New Year too, complete limbo and most of the time I don't have a clue what day it is.
However I have blitzed the house from top to bottom, cleared all the decorations and tree, put various unwanted items on local Facebook (have been meaning to do it for months!), made turkey curry and done four loads of washing so at least more productive than DH who's asleep on the sofa 🙄

Each team had to have at least one bum on seat tomorrow and Tuesday, then bank holiday then back to work. It is a lot quieter at work then.
Am planning to go to the sea side for a long weekend.
I really dislike the noisy office ie the orifice!

I'm fed up and sick of being 'home' I've been staying with my mother since the 21st and won't be able to leave till after New Years. Next year I'll visit only over Christmas Eve or Christmas Day but it'll be fun trying to explain and justify why considering I'm single and will spend the rest of the holiday alone. I love my mother but I've never felt so lonely in my life, she's either so busy dealing with grandad she doesn't sit still or she's sleeping in the chair. At least if I'm on my own I'm alone but not lonely.

I am back to work tomorrow. Had there been trains on Boxing Day I would have gone to work on Friday, as mum hosted Christmas.

I absolutely loath this time of year. Can't stand it. House all upside down. Kids ultra grumpy/over hyped/argumentative/lazy. Constant tidying. Lack of routine. Mess everywhere. Dark days. grrrrrr
did manage a run yesterday which helped, out again tomorrow - maybe will do a longer one.....

DH and I have a child free evening. We are both exhausted from 10days of trips, entertaining, catch ups, eating too much etc that we can't be bothered going out. Planning a bath, pyjamas, steak for dinner and a film.

Tomorrow we are collecting the kids first thing and driving to Glasgow for the night with friends (brunch, shopping, dinner and drinks) then home via M&S on Hogmanay to get food as hosting for 14 that night. Hopefully the elves cone back and do the housework in our absence!

Crazypanda85 · 29/12/2019 18:04

Just me and DH since boxing day, ready to see other people now.

Our own fault we planned to do house stuff, which hasn't really happened!

For me this is a delightful time... no expectations, completely relaxed.

Today I’ve worn my cosiest cashmere jumper and yoga pants and we haven’t left the house for the first time since Christmas Eve and it’s been brilliant!

Dowser · 29/12/2019 19:15

It’s odd isn’t it
Feels like it’s all over and it’s actually really January
Is there a glitch in the matrix?
The weather feels like March / April

Dowser · 29/12/2019 19:17

I’ve got 14 coming for new year too..and am thinking why?
It’s March/ April isn’t it?
We haven’t be3n to the panto yet
That’s next Sunday
That’s going to feel really odd

ravensoaponarope · 29/12/2019 19:22

really depressed.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/12/2019 19:31

Love this time of year, I'm not back at work until Thursday. Lazy mornings, meeting friends, walks in the park, Baileys in the evening. I plan to de clutter the house tomorrow.

jazzdancer · 29/12/2019 19:40

It's like any other week for me. The only day I get off in my profession is the 25th Xmas Sad

YearofMisAdventure · 29/12/2019 19:56

A mix of relaxed, slightly bored and not wanting to go back to work ever. I don't mind it, it's just knowing it's going to be over soon.

Lollypop701 · 29/12/2019 20:28

I think half my dna is cheese or wine. Work tomorrow which I don’t mind, but should have booked 2/3rd off... I want to potter and put off January . Ah well, must go, cheese n wine are calling 🐷

sandybanana · 29/12/2019 21:40

I absolutely love it.
My mental health is stable.
We are off to the panto tomorrow.
Wish it was longer.

I've been poorly with a chest infection that just won't budge since the week before school finished for Christmas (teacher). And I'm still coughing and finding it hard to breathe - being an asthmatic hasn't helped.

I've therefore enjoyed the chance to be very lazy and not feel guilty about being as busy as usual.

And I've still been able to do plenty of little things daily. We saw family CHristmas day. Lazy day boxing day. Saw other family on the 27th. Another lazy day yesterday. Today DD2 had her sports hobby this morning. Tomorrow my sister is taking me for afternoon tea as my Christmas gift. The day after we are off the the cinema. Then there's panto after new year.

I'm making the most of it all.
