I know it's not exactly exciting fare, but I want a new mug and can't find one that's just right.

Something that is nice to drink from. Half a pint or larger, pretty but not too feminine. I've trawled round town today but no success. So here I am, asking you for your mug recommendations please!

There was a thread with a lot on a few months (or maybe longer...) ago but I've searched and can't find it!

Pleased for you that you’ve found ‘your’ mugs OP, but posting my favourite anyway as I loved reading this thread and want to keep it going... Such enjoyable trivia after the flurry of NYE!

Anyway, here’s mine - Le Creuset Grand mugs. Really satisfying and cosy to hold. I also have standard Le Creuset mugs bought at a knockdown price in TK Maxx, but these were an investment and only go to my favourite people 😂

This an old school friend’s business killyandco.com/

Lovely looking mugs for tea drinking aficionados.

I seem to be ridiculously interested in mugs and this thread now !

RemusLupins I do like that Denby mug ...I find Denby stoneware a bit heavy so I'm hoping you'll respond by telling me that this is an exception and that not all Denby mugs are heavy .

Catrescue1971 · 02/01/2020 09:58

You have to have fine bone china. Everything tastes nicer in it. I have an extensive collection of mugs. Dunoon are my favourite.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 02/01/2020 13:28

Fine bone China keeps the tea too hot. I like my stoneware mugs because the tea cools slightly and I can drink it straight away.

Portobello Anglesey mugs here - www.amazon.co.uk/Portobello-CM04932-Anglesey-Reflective-Stoneware/dp/B01JLXEVGK/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

They are just the right shape for wrapping your hands around, and take a decent amount.

However I've been using our almost 20 year old Whittard christmas cone mugs for the last month and have been wondering where i can get some non-Christmas ones the same.

Chuffit · 02/01/2020 15:00

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't own or use mugs 😳

I have lots of Scion and Orla Kiely mugs
Plus Denby
However my favourite ever cup I discovered by accident at work.
A simple thin rimmed simple white tea cup - which is the perfect size and just makes the perfect cup of tea/coffee.
It took ages for me to track it down with some detective work.
It came from Dunelm.
So I now have some at home and I bought the matching saucers too .
It's a fab cup and cheap as chips too.

geeraf · 02/01/2020 15:21

I'm loving all these mugs! I got a belated Christmas present the other day of a Next zodiac mug for my star sign and it's a lovely mug but won't come ahead of my new Denby ones... I'm so tempted to go and buy more of them, they're so nice to drink from!!

Mine is a birthday mug! I am 60 today. It says not everyone looks this good at 60! (Try telling that to the charming man who came in with attitude and when I said the person he wanted to leave a message for was not listed on the ward he said, before I could get any more info from him I was apparently an ugly, low paid civil servant and he did not want to talk to me!!! Presumably if I was handsomely paid he would have bowed and scraped??!!).

I would also like a moomintroll mug!

Bluegrasstrail · 02/01/2020 15:30

Maison du Monde have a very large selection of tea buckets from the cute and animal shaped to the chic and stylish. Very affordable too.

Deathraystare · 02/01/2020 15:50

I have several 'stem' designs from Poundland (think Orla Keily!)

MurrayTheMonk · 03/01/2020 18:52

My Oliver Bonas bargain came today and I'm actually in love with it. It's jolly and I love the weird bottom to it.

@MurrayTheMonk I assume the funny bottom is the thin bit and it doesn't have a coaster attached GrinNice mug!!

Haha yes...

Gaelforce · 07/01/2020 22:36

Inspired by all these lovely mugs, I decided to treat myself to a lovely new one. I couldn't wait to enjoy my book, tea and biscuit.
Utterly disappointed when it arrived this morning- all my own fault. I didn't read the description properly-I just saw the lovely design.
It doesn't even have a handle. Don't say it, I know, I'm the mugBlush

it's lovely Gaelforce and I like the no handle ,all the better for cradling in two hands .And somehow calls to mind tissanes ,hot chocolate ,mulled wine ,hot ginger and other exotic beverages .
