Anyone fancy a really boring chat?

There's a thread about boring conversations people had at Christmas. Sounds great. I have countless young children and haven't had an uninterrupted conversation in years! Let's have a boring chat now about anything you like. What time did old Mr so and so next door come home last night? Remember Mrs such and such whose son went to your school a gew years after you left? No? Well, she's dead now. Any particularly boring anecdotes will be re-told to all my boring relatives next Christmas, in a "I heard, from a friend of a friend..." kind of way. So what's your least interesting gossip?

Can't find the nail clippers anywhere and I've got a really annoying jagged bit of nail that keeps catching on things

Rockbird · 26/12/2019 21:35

I stood on a rather large pin this afternoon and bled a rather satisfyingly large amount over MIL's floor. Whole family leapt into action like an episode of casualty. It was very exciting if rather painful.

Blueshadow · 26/12/2019 21:35

This is all so soothing...I am in bed reading a new book, but with chilly feet, so about to go and get a hot water bottle and a cup of herb tea. DH has A Cold (capitals for dramatic emphasis) and will require tender loving care for some days until it has receded.

Sprinklemetinsel · 26/12/2019 21:40

You know how your scalp hurts when you clips have been in all day, and you let your hair out at bed time and 'ooch'? Well that. And DH has a cold and is snuffling next to me.

Apparently my mum's neighbour has been really kind, and his daughter has a new job, working nights. Her friend always goes to such glamorous events, the pictures are always lovely.

sparklyglitterball · 26/12/2019 22:27

I'm currently bf littlest dc, who has a croupy sounding cough/cold and has woken every 30 mins or so since I put her down at 7. We're staying at my parents and have had a lovely afternoon/evening continuing Christmas celebrations with lots of family. Just had a baileys and a few crisps and some grapes........then got envious when Dh came out with a bowl of trifle and chocolate cheesecake.

Gosh, well I have eagerly returned to this thread this morning and I’m not disappointed! Especially liking Itsnotalwaysfairs skilful transcriptions of dialogues with PILS. Nicely done!
Still with the house-sit. Managed to brush one of the cats yesterday but I can’t tell which one, they’re black and sisters and pretty much identical. So unless I brush them both while both are in the vicinity I won’t ever know which one I’ve done and which one might be forever un-brushed, IYSWIM. This is today’s house-sitting dilemma. It’s all go round here, as you can tell. DH – who is with me but doesn’t ‘do’ cats, is still asleep. All I can hear is the cat’s water device, which kind of slurps lasciviously all by itself. Oh and the fridge.

BillywilliamV · 27/12/2019 08:08

Do you think Christmas is done? Shall I wake DH to do some DIY or just leave him to sleep?

BillywilliamV · 27/12/2019 08:10

And many thanks sabbatical, you've just reminded me to let the cat in. She won't use the catflap.

Riv12345 · 27/12/2019 08:15

Miss mouse 101
I use to work in an athena shop!!!
I loved it the posters were great.

MetallicPaints · 27/12/2019 08:38

I like this threadSmile
I've just folded the freshly washed Christmas tablecloths to go away for another year, always makes me feel a little bit sad. I notice my 10 yr old is no longer rushing down to put the tree lights on first thing in the morning.
Might have a walk later as its not raining today.

HerRoyalFattyness · 27/12/2019 10:21

My kids are discussing the best way to climb their giant teddies.
They have decided that right foot first is the way to go.

DownUdderer · 27/12/2019 10:45

When my neighbour uses their key fob to unlock their car or lock it, it beeps, sometimes if I'm waiting for a delivery I think it's the parcel delivery guy coming. You can normally tell he's coming because he beeps his little machine, then you have to use your finger to sign the little machine. Sometimes I even think to myself that I haven't ordered anything why is the parcel guy coming, then I realise it's just the neighbour getting in his car. Really I'd love it if they turned the beep off. They have lots of grown up kids and during the holidays they all turn up in cars and vans and trucks and so do their partners, we had a Camper Van outside our place for a week, it's gone now do maybe their off camping? Not sure.

GinNsnowmen · 27/12/2019 10:48

Looks like rain...

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 27/12/2019 11:02

My sunrise woke me at 5.50, DS2 came in when Ollie the Owl woke up at 6.40, DD went and had Up and Go at 8 and then came in, DS2 had waffles and chocolate spread, I had mince pie porridge, DD's drawing on the tablet, DS2's watching Scooby Doo, I'm on here.

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 27/12/2019 11:04

I'm debating whether it's too early to open the beer.

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 27/12/2019 11:06

I'm sorry troppibambini, Camel makes me look like I'm dead just made me Xmas Grin

GinNsnowmen · 27/12/2019 11:07

Mavis across the road is having ANOTHER cigarette outside.

The neighbours cat looks lost

HerRoyalFattyness · 27/12/2019 11:10

Do I take the kids out for a mooch?
Or do we stay in and chill out?

N0ManJan · 27/12/2019 11:10

One of our Christmas packages arrived late. It was DPs fault as he ordered it to late but because it’s for me I really didn’t mind, it’s quite nice to spread things out isn’t it. Anyway the postman knocked and sent a text to DP saying I wasn’t in to collect but I did!! We laughed when he came home from the shops saying I missed the door and I was holding the bloody package.

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 27/12/2019 11:15

I'm still hungry. There are assorted mini pork pies in the fridge...

BrownSauceOfCourse · 27/12/2019 11:16

I really need to get dressed - DS is going to a friend's house and is being picked up at 12. I also need to go and get food for tonight.

An ambulance came for our opposite neighbour yesterday, but his estranged wife who still lives in the same house didn't go with him to the hospital, so I;m feeling a bit sad for him. Now some bloke has turned up and I'm wondering if it's her new boyfriend.

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 27/12/2019 11:19

Time to start cooking lunch: herby lasagne.

FLOrenze · 27/12/2019 11:20

What Service Station did you all use to get to MN today? What were the roads like. Was the weather awful. ( I think that makes me the winner)

SmuggyMcKnobson · 27/12/2019 11:21

Misread the recipe and will now have to leave the oven on for an extra 2 hours when I could have done it all in one go.

Rick Stein's aubergine and tomato tarte tatin if anyone's interested.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 27/12/2019 13:08

We live on the edge of a new estate. It is all park land and country walks next to our house but we have hardly seen a single person walk past today. Not even dog walkers. Think everyone must be shopping or at work. That IS quite a boring anecdote, I think.
