I was planning on spending the day with my parents but they have both come down with a rotten cold and stomach bug.

So single girl in her 40's at home with her cats on Christmas Day! Grin🤦🏼‍♀️

Enjoy it! Relax, eat, and chill! I actually like my own company so being alone on xmas to do as I please wouldn't bother me.

itsgettingweird · 25/12/2019 12:40

I'd also welcome you if you were a friend in that situation.

But I also respect sometimes it's nice to be so relaxed knowing everything is closed and no expectations to do something are there.

Horses sounds lovely. It's a cold crisp sunny winters day here. Shame you can't ride.

Fishcakey · 25/12/2019 12:46

I'd be quite happy just me, wine, Pringles and the animals.

So Holland Cooper have a sale on, done a bit of online shopping 😊

Dcat has just fallen off the kitchen counter and took everything with it. The Idiot is fine

It's lunchtime now so having wine....the day is actually going quite quickly.

Excellent catting there OP Crown Grin

ilovesooty · 25/12/2019 12:50

I'm on my own with my two new resident cats. Had a phone call from a friend which was nice. It's a good day.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your parents when they've recovered.

MarianaMoatedGrange · 25/12/2019 12:50

Dcat will of course act like it was accident. Hoping for 'poor me' treats.

TheBlueStocking · 25/12/2019 12:51

I'm doing Christmas on my own. Streaming free Christmas films and eating chocolate and nuts in bed. Dressed up in a silly red frilly skirt I couldn't wear in public.

dingdang · 25/12/2019 12:54

I'm at home alone. It's ace! I'm sipping a margarita and cooking a ham. Watching crap telly and resting. Enjoy!

WhenOneDoorClosesAnotherOpens · 25/12/2019 13:02

On the Christmas boards people have posted that they've spent 1k on food

Xmas Shock Did I just read that right?

diddl · 25/12/2019 13:04

Have your parents got any food that needs using/cooking?

Lovemusic33 · 25/12/2019 13:38

Enjoy.
Online sale shopping
Stuffing your face with food
Cheesy tv (there’s better stuff on later)
And the company of cats and horses (wish I had horse to attend too).

I’m at home with my dc’s, dd1 has been ill for 3 days with a nasty cold and has gifted me her germs for Christmas, we are staying in pj’s and watching tv all day.

andannabegins · 25/12/2019 14:28

Ours has been pretty much wiped out. I have a horrible bug and feel shut so can't join in with anything. We are going to try again tomorrow

FurryPie · 25/12/2019 14:34

Yes mine has been cancelled, only mine though. Decided to spend all of last night being sick and felt awful this morning. My DM picked the kids up and took them to where we had planned to go, but I didn’t even see them open their presents Sad. I’m a single parent so they had to do it all by themselves. Luckily eldest is 16 and took charge of the younger two!

I’m feeling a bit more alive now, but still gutted I’m missing out on all the fun!

Boristhecats · 25/12/2019 15:50

@TheBlueStocking I love this. And u should so wear the skirt in public and sod everyone else.

HelloIsitXmasTreeYoureLookingF · 25/12/2019 16:41

@BayandBlonde that sounds nice.

My Xmas hasn't exactly gone down the pan but I'm recovering from a brain injury and in pain so wanted to avoid jollity entirely and just sleep.

Had to cancel day with old friend and housemate had seizure during the night so was trying to deal with that, paramedics got interested in my condition and wanted to cart off both of us at 4am. No way getting stuck in nearby city on Xmas day. Few hours sleep now. Didn't arrange to meet bf as I was supposed to be with my friend's family but will text him soon.

Enjoy nice food and cats!!

Ninkanink · 25/12/2019 16:44

This is fabulous! A whole Christmas Day to yourself, with no one to please but yourself! Enjoy it. Xmas Smile

leggybrunette · 25/12/2019 16:47

Yup...mine definitely has gone down the pan. Started with stomach bug at 8pm last night and haven't even left my bed all day.
To make it worse it's my DS first Christmas so haven't even spent any time with him as don't want to pass the germs on.
Thankfully my DH said we'll just do presents when I'm better so at least not totally cancelled just postponed.

BayandBlonde · 25/12/2019 16:48

@HelloIsitXmasTreeYoureLookingF

Absolutely you should rest and recover, Christmas can wait. Hope your housemate is ok.

I've realised today Christmas Day really is just another day. I look forward to New Year, I love New Year's Day

X

@leggybrunette it seems to have hit so many people. My parents were fine yesterday, they have been in bed all day today.

I think lots of people will be having a belated Christmas Day

Yes, our Christmas Day has been derailed by DD coming down with chicken pox. No walk on the beach and we have sent our apologies to the big family dinner we are supposed to be at now. Instead we are grazing on nibbles and watching Paddington 2. It's not what we planned, but we are all cosy and we're together and our little one is getting what she needs so it's not so bad.

Ninkanink · 25/12/2019 17:01

(I mean it’s obviously not fab that your parents are ill. But hopefully you’ve made the best of your bonus Christmas day, and as you said, you can do Christmas with them once they’re well again.)

Heathercob · 26/12/2019 14:55

Did you have a hack out, or don't your horses ride out on their own?

Deathraystare · 26/12/2019 15:21

I remember one year I had the Norovirus. I was at My Brother's. Mum kept urging me to eat something and they kept passing around the Quality Street. Normally I would mow them all down in my attempt to get to the tin!
