I was planning on spending the day with my parents but they have both come down with a rotten cold and stomach bug.

So single girl in her 40's at home with her cats on Christmas Day! Grin🤦🏼‍♀️

Just think that you have the best of both worlds - you can do as you please today and get to prolong the celebrations to the weekend!

But also you should feel free to speak to your friends today - you definitely wouldn’t be imposing if you were my friend

Have a lovely day x

BayandBlonde · 25/12/2019 11:23

No DCs. I could go and see other family (I'm seeing them tomorrow) who would more than welcome me, but it's quite a journey and I would need arrange for someone to sort the horses out for me this afternoon. It's a bit late for that.

I'm fine, there is loads I can do indoors.
It's nice to read that it's not totally unheard of to have a quiet Xmas Day.

@alwaysmovingforwards I literally have all my paint here ready to go. I might actually do it! 😊

Yes I've also not been well so far today unfortunately. Am going to lie down for a while.

I'll watch Classic Eastenders and repeats of Call the Midwife this afternoon if I'm awake. There's more on this evening.

I'm happy with my own company and my cat but it is disappointing to be unwell on Christmas day, I was looking forward to it up to this morning. However, tomorrow is another day - as is the next and the one after so all is not lost.

Flower777 · 25/12/2019 11:28

Could you go for a lovely long horse ride? Then back home for Christmas films and snacks?

Mintychoc1 · 25/12/2019 11:28

OP i wouldn’t suggest you read all the threads on here about people having fraught big family Christmases, that should cheer you up!

PrettyPurpleFeather · 25/12/2019 11:28

I cooked a massive curry banquet yesterday for 14 & we've still got loads left over. Having an extra person is no imposition at all as there's so much food at Christmas. On the Christmas boards people have posted that they've spent 1k on food so really how much food can people eat. As pp said Christmas is about giving as well as receiving and "making extra room at the inn". That's what the season is about after all.

DeathByPuppy · 25/12/2019 11:31

Merry Christmas @BayandBlonde.

If you were my mate we’d want you to join us. We always host friends on a Christmas Day, it’s fab. One more person around the table isn’t going to overstretch either. If your friends are anything like us, there’s always enough food for another 5 surprise people to have joined us!

Boristhecats · 25/12/2019 11:32

I woke up with no cold water. Just boiling off your skin hot water from all the taps. I needed a shower and can’t have one. Luckily I have bottles of water as an emergency. Glad I have them. Now when is plumber going to come out and fix it. Sigh Oh and I have 11 people for Xmas dinner today

BayandBlonde · 25/12/2019 11:33

@Flower777 no riding unfortunately, she is having the winter off.

This is actually the first Christmas Day morning many of us haven't tacked up and gone on a morning ride. Everyone is so fed up of the wet weather!

Have you got Netflix...I’d use it catching up on prison break, orange is the new black, the crown and that war one
...we are always fitting them in around life..so I’d enjoy total indulgence.
It’s also nice and mild...so time to get out for a nice walk

Booboostwo · 25/12/2019 11:40

I’ve got my feet on the sofa, I am surrounded by dogs and cats, and I can see the horses in the field. Pretty good Christmas as far as I am concerned!

Impatientwino · 25/12/2019 11:45

If you were my friend I would be absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to see you for Christmas Day! My kids would love it too!

Please do tell one of them!

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 25/12/2019 11:48

I'm on my own too, don't even have any pets, but I have plenty of food, booze and amazon prime and the sun is out so it's fine. However, by next Christmas I'm determined to have a 🐕 and some 🐓 which will be even better. Enjoy your day and put your feet up. Merry Christmas 🍷.

madcatladyforever · 25/12/2019 11:50

I'm having a lovely time alone today with my cat eating smoked oysters on toast. Yum.

Mlou32 · 25/12/2019 11:55

I would bloody love Christmas Day alone! I'd cook loads of food, stick on Christmas film, switch off from social media and just chill out in my PJs and stuff my face! Enjoy!

Mlou32 · 25/12/2019 11:57

@ThePluckOfTheCoward by next Christmas you're determined to have a dog and some cock? That certainly will be even better Wink Merry Christmas to you Wine

MollyButton · 25/12/2019 12:02

We did most of our Christmas yesterday - as it was the only time all my children had off. So far it's one of our best Christmases. No one making demands (especially ex who seemed to want to conform). I got up to write a job application but so far have used: hand mask, foot mask and face mask, eaten chocolates, had two christmas hugs from different children and chilled.

viccat · 25/12/2019 12:05

I spend every Christmas alone with the cats now. It's really not bad at all, especially if you don't get sucked into scrolling social media and seeing the highlights reel of everyone's perfect Christmas!

Slomi · 25/12/2019 12:12

My DP and toddler DD are down with a vomiting bug. We were supposed to go to DP's parents but that's out the window. I'm up and down the stairs with hot drinks and basins all morning. Merry Christmas to meeeeeee Grin Wine.

Christmas is overrated OP

MarianaMoatedGrange · 25/12/2019 12:15

I'm alone today, have no cats, dogs, horses and today no cock Crown Grin

Eating, chilling, MN, radio, maybe a film later. Bliss!

Chunkers · 25/12/2019 12:18

I wish I had cats today.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 25/12/2019 12:19

@Mlou32 😂😂😂. Oh yes that would definitely improve Christmas 😉

MustardScreams · 25/12/2019 12:25

We’re having Christmas Day on the 27th this year as my sister is working until Boxing Day (Ward Sister).

Dd is at her dad’s and I’m eating baked Camembert and olive bread in my pjs and watching Rick & Morty. It’s quite a good Christmas overall!

notthenormal · 25/12/2019 12:25

Thank fuck for that
