Now watching with ds2 and my Mum... Absolutely loving it.... I never read it to ds2 who's 23 now.... He says it was read to him at school...Loving the Robbie Williams song.
What a lovely tribute to Judith Kerr...

I loved it!

TitianaTitsling · 24/12/2019 21:06

@daisypond l was the same DC was v upset at the poor bear being run away from!

JellyfishandShells · 24/12/2019 21:10

Wonderful - so glad they didn’t try to update it and the padding out of the story to bring it to a reasonable length wasn’t intrusive. And the personality of the tiger was beautifully caught.

Even Robbie Williams didn’t annoy me.

Excellent production.

theSnuffster · 24/12/2019 21:17

I thought it was lovely. I felt the tiger was portrayed as scarier than I imagined when reading the book! We all have different perceptions of course.

Also love a bit of Robbie Williams!

Violetparis · 24/12/2019 21:18

Love the book but found the adaptation really boring.

Aragog · 24/12/2019 21:19

I didn't find the tiger was portrayed as too growly or scary. I mean he is a tiger after all, and looked very much like the drawings.

Starisnotanumber · 24/12/2019 21:36

For anybody who missed it its on again tomorrow at 1.50 on Channel 4

festivefrustration · 24/12/2019 21:37

He was scarier in the tv programme for sure. I was quite taken aback with his growling! But loved it all the same :)

ShinyGiratina · 24/12/2019 21:49

It was beautifully done, and utterly charming. I loved the simple background with a bit of set when needed.

I preferred it to the Julia Donaldsons which I tend to find a bit slow and drawn out, losing the rhyme between lines as they're too stretched.

eyesbiggerthanstomach · 24/12/2019 22:01

It's my almost 2 yr old's favourite book. He was glued to the tv. I don't think he could quite believe that it was brought to life on the tv. I loved it. I think the book can be seen as a little sexist but the show was less so.

megletthesecond · 24/12/2019 22:04

I'm glad it was good. I didn't watch it after the awful Bear Hunt animation.
Will watch it on catch up.

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 24/12/2019 22:04

I missed the narrator saying all the words. No one said the bit about all the street lamps being lit and all the cars with their lights on! Were we all supposed to be saying it ourselves Grin

Not even ruined by Robbie Williams and David Walliams which is saying something.

unicornsrule · 24/12/2019 22:46

We all loved it 😍🐯🐯🐯

ActualHornist · 24/12/2019 22:58

It was one of my most favourite books as a child.

I didn’t love it. It was ok.

happycamper11 · 24/12/2019 23:00

Dd6 loved it and chuckled all the way through. She doesn't engage much in tv so it must have been good. Still think the tiger is a prick and v rude though as I did with the book 😆

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 24/12/2019 23:05

Did he still drink ALL daddy’s beer? That was the most outrageous part of the book lol

happychange · 24/12/2019 23:17

I was enjoying it but my 3 year old asked to turn it off as the river was scaring him Confused

happychange · 24/12/2019 23:18

Tiger*!

Smallinthesmoke · 24/12/2019 23:25

Loved it here. Especially the tiger's teeth!

Bananablueberry · 25/12/2019 08:40

Watched it with my parents and my older siblings. All of us remember definitely having the book and having it read to us quite regularly but no one could remember the story. Is it just the tiger comes round, eats everything and makes a mess?

DuchessofWoke · 28/12/2019 21:47

I really loved this. I sometimes find the Julia Donaldson BBC adaptations a bit overlong and drawn-out but this was just fantastic.

On the third viewing my DC were jiving about to the Robbie song in the middle.

FREEM · 28/12/2019 21:51

loved it ... been reading it for 16 years to various children.
thought the gift was portayed as scarier than i imagined.
loved the animation and bright colours

Survivingchipandkippee · 28/12/2019 21:55

Loved the book and the tv version.

SuePerb · 28/12/2019 21:57

Was it Robbie?

Dd loved it. I much preferred the book which I read to all of my children, but it was still lovely and heartwarming.

GertyTheGert · 29/12/2019 00:14

I too absol loved it - two adults sitting with me - I even had a lil tear in my eye when I found out he wasn't ever coming back !
