Stinking cold

alwaysscared · 24/12/2019 14:42

Yep, poorly here. DS had horrible flu, has just got over it after about 10 days. Now I have a stinking cold, temp, can't hear properly, can't taste or smell. Looks like I might have to be left here on my own for the day tomorrow while DH and DS go to family. He's only 6 so can't expect him to stay home all day just because he has a poorly mummy. Feel very sorry for myself, but having seen some of these posts I should think myself lucky.

My depression is very bad. My manager sent me home on last Friday as I was so upset due to how shit I’m feeling. GP has increased my fluoxetine

clairethewitch70 · 24/12/2019 14:46

Hosting both days. Have chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia flare due to lack of sleep. On waiting list for hip and spinal disc replacements. Twisted my ankle yesterday due to not walking properly and it is is now swollen and read. To top it all DH thinks I am flaring on purpose to get out of doing everything. He does help but has to be micromanaged, strange for a small business owner.

anxioussue · 24/12/2019 14:50

Yes, come down with upset stomach and sickness this afternoon. Eldest dc has already had it, two down two to go Sad

IndieTara · 24/12/2019 14:53

Yep I'm on the verge of a migraine and I know that once I get home instead of relaxing I'll be vomiting every 20 minutes for the next 6 hrs

MrsWombat · 24/12/2019 16:04

Yes, had a throat infection forever which keeps making me cough and I've hurt my ribs badly from all the coughing. I can't stop crying from the pain. First world problems I know compared to most. Hope everyone feels better soon.

funmummy48 · 24/12/2019 16:12

Everyone in our house has had a really, horrible, stinky cold, except me. I'm keeping everything crossed that I can keep it at bay. It's not flu but very similar (though not quite so incapacitating) and has left them all with hacking coughs. I'm tempted to book myself in to the local Premier Inn for a week!

JustASmallTownCurl · 24/12/2019 16:13

@funmummy48

I'm tempted to book myself in to the local Premier Inn for a week!

Fuck it, let's ask for a Mumsnet discount and do a block booking.

funmummy48 · 24/12/2019 16:17

@JustASmallTownCurl sounds like a plan! 😉

TheFairyCaravan · 24/12/2019 16:21

I've got a UTI. It started on Friday so I got some stuff from the chemist and treated it at home. I thought it had gone but since lunchtime it's back with bells so I'm waiting for a call back from OOHs.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 24/12/2019 16:34

Nothing compared to most on here, but I've got a weird cold thing that keeps coming and going, and the main symptom is a weird taste somewhere between the back of my mouth and the front of my brain.

shggg245 · 24/12/2019 16:42

Broken wrist operated on last week. Started with noroviris Saturday. Packing family off in the hope they don't get it. Don't want to eat. 😢

Mrsjayy · 24/12/2019 16:46

My Dh has that virus he is on the sofa today but I can't see him making it to dinner tomorrow poor sod Xmas Sad

mushroom60 · 24/12/2019 18:25

Yes, sinus, headache and high temp. Started yesterday afternoon when I spent 4 hours desperately trying to get warm as had terrible chills, then of course went the opposite way! Also tummy very dodgy. Partner also coughing up a lung.

Wouldn't be so bad (no children) but my very elderly parents are due for lunch tomorrow. Mum is very easy going but Dad's on the spectrum and I can tell the thought of not having his Christmas roast is bothering him. I've said come over for a little buffet of pork pies, mince pies etc and to do presents (don't want them to catch anything either!) and I'll do the roast as soon as I'm able. He's 85 and I feel like I'm letting him down though - especially as they live off ready meals at home as Mum is no longer able to cook. Dinner and routine are very important to him!

Namethecat · 24/12/2019 18:30

I started with a sore throat on 30th November , then went down with full blown flu ( inspite of having a flu jab)
Had to take to bed etc.
Still not 100% yet and have no energy. 25 days now.

Kanga83 · 24/12/2019 18:32

Yes! Our whole family is wiped yet again by some chest thing. My eldest has just got over Flu. My dad has viral pneumonia.

hazandduck · 24/12/2019 18:32

My DH started throwing up at 2am. He is never ever sick :( he’s still in bed. Christmas cancelled! I feel so sorry for him, he really is so unwell and it’s the first time he’s had off in ages which we’ve been so looking forward to spending as a family.

I have emetophobia but just trying to not panic and think what will be will be! Hate this period of waiting to see if 2 year old and I get it! I’m nearly 34 weeks pregnant, so uncomfortable and just the last thing I want is to have a bug!

Why does it happen right on Christmas? Sending get well wishes to everybody x

FreezerBird · 24/12/2019 18:40

Stinking cold (and was thinking about starting this very thread so thanks for somewhere to be miserable). Had 20 people round on Sunday and then house guests from Sunday to this morning. Was all lovely and then pretty much as soon as we waved them off this morning and closed the door I started sneezing, coughing, running snot, earache, toothache, sore throat, the whole thing. Luckily the house is immaculate having had people round and dh is the master of keeping on top of that. I'm hoping that a good night's sleep tonight knocks it on the head (didn't sleep well the last two nights as gave up our bed for guests).

In a minute I'm going to drag myself upstairs to wrap presents.

Oh, and the heating has broken.

Sunnysidegold · 24/12/2019 19:41

I'm sick. Been throwing up this afternoon. Had planned to chill and watch a lovely film with my kids this afternoon but had to go to bed instead. Feel so terrible. Can't see me being much fun tomorrow either. Thankfully husband cooks the dinner and there are plenty of people coming that will entertain kids. I feel bad for being in such a poorly mood too.

smeerf · 24/12/2019 19:52

Tooth infection here. Pain's not too bad (luckily as I'm pregnant so can't take much for it) and the antibiotics have brought the swelling down so I'm less chipmunk-esque. But I feel so so so sick and we're 4 hours from home staying in PILs bungalow, 2 adults and a toddler squeezed in a double bed. There's no escaping to the sofa as MIL refuses to share a bed with FIL so she's sleeping there.

lilgreen · 24/12/2019 19:54

I’m ok but DD has tonsillitis, got antibiotics this morning. Hope she can eat tomorrow. Get well soon everyone.

Oliversmumsarmy · 24/12/2019 20:02

I am thinking of cancelling Christmas after this one.

We already go away every other year as I don’t really celebrate Christmas.
We spent last year in an airport en route to Las Vegas.
Dp was ill.

The last 3 years Dp was ill.
This year both Ds and dd have gone down with different things

Every year someone is ill.

It isn’t just the odd year here and there but every single year.

LilyJade · 24/12/2019 20:16

My mum has norovirus & will have to spend Xmas day on her own it's really awful.
I desperately want to call in on her tomorrow eve but working rest of week in a hospital so can't risk catching it, unsure what's to do.

meow1989 · 24/12/2019 20:22

I spent all day at work feeling sick yesterday and all day today asleep or with an upset tummy. Had to cancel plans with friends and our little ones and send DH and ds to an xmas eve gathering without me 😔

Have managed lucozade and beans on toast so hopefully I can sleep off before we go to the inlaws tomorrow (at least I can quarantine myself in bed there if I need to as we are staying).

Ds is only 18 months and wont have a clue but I feel like a rubbish mummy for not being able to do anything with him today, even though dh has been with him and hes had a nice day.
