Where have vegetarian hotdogs gone?

Has anyone else noticed that they are not on sale anywhere?
Quorn, IKEA and supermarket own brands have completely disappeared off shelves.
Now I can only find vegetable versions but not the orignal soya versions.

I haven’t seen them for ages, either. Thanks for the tip on the kosher /Waitrose ones but I don’t think they will be in my neck of the woods. They are great in stir fries, too. The frozen type minimised waste as you could just defrost a couple very quickly.

So many of us mourning the Tesco treasures.
I wonder if they'll bring them back.

CallarMorvern · 23/12/2019 05:28

I've been trying to buy Linda Mc red onion and rosemary sausages for ages, Tesco has been out of stock of lots of the veggie frozen range for a while and Tesco is my only shopping option. I can't eat Quorn, so no sausage stuffing for me on Xmas day. I really hate a lot of the new fake meat vegan stuff, as I feel it is pushing out a lot of the veggie ranges.. Veggie sausage is the only fake meat that I eat and I don't eat it that often.

Callar - Sainsbo Shroomdogs are really good.

TowandaForever · 23/12/2019 17:46

I tweeted Tesco and they said that the vegetarian hot dogs have been discontinued.

starrynight19 · 23/12/2019 17:50

I got some quorn ones today in Asda in the freezer section.

@ClinkyMonkey if you are wanting a really good Lincolnshire sausage try the cauldron ones. They are my absolute favourite veggie sausage!

cricketmum84 · 23/12/2019 18:05

@CallarMorvern absolutely loads of the LM rosemary and red onion sausages in our local lidl

I had wondered why I hadn't seen any for a while. Agree with pp, quorn ones not as good, more expensive and take too long to cook.

MoltoAgitato · 23/12/2019 20:03

Can’t agree about the Sainsbury’s veggie sausages. We tried the caramelised onion shroomdogs and they had to go in the bin, they were vile!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/12/2019 20:13

I agree the shroomdogs are nasty.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2019 20:36

I really like them - lovely with sweet potato mash, Savoy cabbage and gravy. I usually get the frozen ones, rather than fresh, but liked the fresh too.

FlyingPenguine · 23/12/2019 20:37

I loved the Tesco own brand veggie hotdogs and bacon, they still have the burgers, I must stock up.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 23/12/2019 21:07

Tivall are the best - the one brand ones were pretty identical.

I have never, ever, known a child not eat these.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 23/12/2019 21:08

I’ve bought the Tivall ones in the last two weeks from Ocado

SouthWestmom · 23/12/2019 22:14

Oh me as well. No Quorn hot dogs, Asda hot dogs or Tesco hotdogs frozen or chilled

Kerning · 23/12/2019 22:21

Ocado still selling the Tivall ones:

@cricketmum84
We have no Lidl, but travelling down to parents in laws for Christmas I nipped into Asda, they had loads too, so I'm going to stock up on the way back! Lots of other frozen veggie stuff too, it's probably just our Tesco that is rubbish.

BuffaloCauliflower · 25/12/2019 09:27

Saw the Quorn ones in Morrisons in Weybridge yesterday

PompeyLiz01 · 06/01/2020 11:29

I wrote to Tesco as we have been buying these for years. They just said they had been discontinued. We have tried the Sainsburys fresh ones which were nice and have frozen them to try although it says not to freeze. We have been getting frozen ones from Holland and Barrett although needless to say they are a lot more expensive.

Purpledays82 · 06/01/2020 11:37

I will also email Tesco’s to complain. I had been hoping they just hadn’t been available over winter as there wasn’t much demand and would be back soon . My daughter is intolerant to Quorn and loved these hot dogs .

thesunwillout · 06/01/2020 23:35

Think I'll email them too.

RiftGibbon · 06/01/2020 23:40

Our local Waitrose sells the Quorn hot dogs. They now come packaged in a bag rather than a box.
