Can you help get Poppy home?

Poppy’s family desperately want her home for Christmas. There’re young children in the family who don’t want presents from Santa, just their beloved dog back. This family are doing all they can (with the help of the local community) but so far there’s been no luck.

This morning it suddenly occurred to me that maybe Mumsnet could work some magic. So please, has anyone seen her? Has anyone you know bought, or has been bought, a new dog for Christmas?

Please help Poppy get home for Christmas.

Bumping again. Let's keep this bumped for the family.

Thank you both, I appreciate it. Unfortunately there’s still been no sign of Poppy.

kittybee · 21/12/2019 17:44

Hi, yes she is chipped and spayed. She was also wearing a collar with the owner’s contact details. Thank you for the bump.

Bump

IncrediblySadToo · 22/12/2019 08:10

Unfortunately I’m nowhere near there, but I’ll keep an eye out, you just never know where she might be. I’d be utterly devastated if she was mine, I’m upset for them as it is.

I hope they get her back.

kittybee · 22/12/2019 09:06

Thank you both. IncrediblySadToo, I think that’s the thing, she could be absolutely anywhere by now, and you just don’t know what post, or poster, or conversation will bring her home. I’m struggling to imagine how heartbreaking Christmas will be for the family, never mind a usual day. No-one is giving up on getting her home safely though.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/12/2019 12:47

Have they hired a pet detective?.

EnidButton · 22/12/2019 14:26

Oh how sad! Poor little thing. Her family must be so upset.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news soon. Hopefully she's just wandered off and someone will spot her.

kittybee · 22/12/2019 15:43

Thank you for all the bumps and comments. The general thought is that she’s not wandered off, but that she’s been taken. Sadly there’s not been a single sighting, so it’s all just a (miserable) guessing game. I don’t know whether a pet detective has been employed or not.

Op this is heartbreaking, did she disappear from your garden? If you think she has been taken because she is gorgeous at least hopefully she is relatively safe until you find her.

To give you hope years ago our family dog was stolen from outside a shop, she was gone for weeks but my father went to the local papers etc and even went on regional radio. Our dog became too hot because of this, he wouldn't give up (and this was before social media as we know it) and we got her back. Don't give up hope, I know how you feel.

kittybee · 22/12/2019 16:05

Thank you Somanysocks. She’s not actually my dog. She belongs to a lady on the next road. I have three dogs of my own, and children, and know how devastated we would be as a family if one of them went missing. The owner is not giving up on her, and neither is the community. Thank you for your words, they help.

kittybee · 22/12/2019 16:36

Thank you! Even if not in the same country one of your friends might be. It all helps.
