Serious jockin' (no g)

Finished work slightly early today, and had Steve Wright on Radio 2 for the drive home.

Is the Serious Jockin (no g) with DJ Silly Boy supposed to be entertaining? Am I missing something?

Almost an hour of "big shaaauuuuttttt owwwt" to Billy and Jane travelling to Tesco to do some serious shoppin' (no g), Tom and Mandy going to the gym, serious squashin' (no g).

In 10 minutes, the term jockin' was used 38 times. I don't get it. It was just bloody annoying - I've just replaced my car and haven't worked out how to programme the radio, and I like it on for the traffic reports otherwise I would have switched it off, but I'm slightly miffed that the licence payer is funding this crap.

Radio 2 is now just constant wittering (one exception is Ken Bruce, love pop master).

I do enjoy non stop oldies on SW's show. To be honest I don't mind his show at all.

I have to echo was PP say about Ken Bruce- he's the king of Radio 2.

Skinnychip · 20/12/2019 19:08

We listen at work, we love Ken bruce and pop master but JV is seriously irritating and his stupid niche phone ins that apply to literally less than 3% of the population "have you ever accidentally electrocuted yourself while painting the ceiling, call in we'd love to hear about it" or "can your pet rabbit finish the times cryptic crossword?" And when he does things that are absolutely pointless on the radio that probably wouldnt be interesting if you could see them on tv and are a complete waste of time on the radio. Yes Steve Wright is about as funny as piles and has been recycling the same jokes and characters for the last 25 years....

I hate it,I LOVE the fact he's on earlier now and Sarah Cox is in his old slot, makes cooking tea much more pleasant !

MoaningMinniee · 20/12/2019 19:27

Sorry Rylan is another good reason for me to change channel or hit the CD button.... My fairly low end spec Peugeot Expert van 2016 version still has a button to override audio with traffic reports OP. It's up at the top right.

Steve Wright must know where the bodies are buried as it’s the single only reason he’s not been consigned to radio oblivion years ago

MoaningMinniee · 20/12/2019 19:30

I usually wriggle my journeys so I can listen and shout out any answers I know to Popmaster at 10.30 am with Ken Bruce. I got 36 and the three out of ten about three weeks ago!!!! I'm still preening. Didn't get a single solitary one right today though in the final of Popmaster Champion's League. Although I was ONE YEAR OUT in the reply to one question Grin

Love Steve Wright, hate the shite that is Serious Jockin' (no g). But laughed at it for the first time ever this afternoon. Was something about Indian food (no ghee).

NerrSnerr · 20/12/2019 20:05

I really enjoy Rylan's show. Feel it's light entertainment. I like Zoe and Sara too. To be honest I'm easily pleased so not a very good judge.

I do spend too much time worrying about what's going to happen when Ken retires. Will Popmaster retire with him?

NotYourTypicalNerd · 20/12/2019 20:11

I have never listened to Radio two but I feel that segment would be ultra annoying.

I used to listen to Heart radio on the morning commute, but when they got rid of the local DJs had to swap over as I cannot stand Amanda Screech with insincerity Holden.

As an aside, when do radio figures come out and how many listeners have heart lost?

Now We listen to Radio 1 in the am and Heart in the evening (better music!)
