Why are you awake?

Sorry if there's already a thread like this. Signed off work with stress, battling a variety of demons. Despite only getting about four hours' sleep last night I can't sleep at the moment. Add to that visitors making snarky comments making me feel bad. Just feel like all my questions need answering right now and feel stuck in my self-destructive behavioursSad

Because I ate something that is not agreeing with me. So I am in the bathroom trying not to vomit too much.

PhoneLock · 16/12/2019 04:01

I find jet lag is actually worse going west to east.

PulyaSochsup · 16/12/2019 04:01

Feeling generally lousy. My body is sore and tired and I am looking for reasons to back up why I am a rubbish parent, wife et cetera.

sashh · 16/12/2019 04:04

Because it is time for me to take orders for coffee from you all. I am out of hazelnut syrup ut I do have some vanilla vodka which is nice in hot chocolate.

jenn88 · 16/12/2019 04:07

35 weeks pregnant and cannot get comfortable, recovering from a cough and I believe I had pulled muscles in top of my stomach! Have barely slept in 2 days!
Reality check coming on here, my heart goes out to those who have recently had bad news or struggles xxx

Rememberallball · 16/12/2019 04:12

Just finished breastfeeding and changing DT1 (16 weeks old) after doing the same for DT2 first. Been awake since 2:30am to sort them both out and now lying here listening to the radio and DH snoring next to me while catching up on mumsnet as it’s the best time of day or me to concentrate.

Flowers for all of you going through medical treatment for themselves or loved ones; also for those who are up because of stress at work xx

LauraLooDerby · 16/12/2019 04:14

Because I have a 48 hour old baby that
a- isn't latching properly and b- doesn't want to sleep in her Moses basket. So after being awake from 2.45am on Friday with the beginning of contractions, no sleep Friday, gave birth 2.15am Saturday, no sleep Saturday night until DP came to take over at 4.30am, no naps yesterday and no sleep so far tonight...... I am a shell, but a very contented and besotted shell.

Bacardi101 · 16/12/2019 04:17

As I’m in hospital after having an asthma attack with pneumonia but after reading everyone’s post I’m realise I am actually one of the lucky ones. Flowers for everyone who is struggling tonight

ThePolishWombat · 16/12/2019 04:17

Had a shitty night sleep already because DC3 is in a squirmy mood.
Woke for a feed at 3, so when she was done I passed her over to DH......and after 10 mins, DC2 then starts yelling for me, and has continued to do that every 15 mins since.

It’s fine guys....Mummy doesn’t need any sleep.

Feckinlego · 16/12/2019 04:24

Had a girls night out that did not go as planned, came home to tell DH who couldn't have been less interested. Went to bed angry and woke up an hour ago with anxiety. Reading this thread I'm ashamed of my 'problems'.

Are you taking any painkillers?

Spam congratulations

virtual hug to everyone else.

Eminybob · 16/12/2019 04:33

Up with the 1 year old who still wakes in the night and only settles by being breastfed. And he needs to be 110% asleep before I put him in his cot otherwise he’ll wake up again. So just waiting it out now.

Disfordarkchocolate · 16/12/2019 04:50

Wide awake because of hideous anxiety and problems adjusting to an increase in my medication. Glad I logged on. A reality check in many ways and it's bought back lovely warm memories of feeding my babies.

zaffa · 16/12/2019 04:53

My newborn doesn't believe night time is for sleeping. Unless she is sleeping on me. She thinks it's for feeding, and also for storing up all the day's poop so I'm out of my mind with worry and then having a poonami. This has happened for the last three nights, but luckily I am wise to this and manage to get her cleaned up before there is poo everywhere.
Seriously - if anyone had any suggestions on how to get a 14 day old baby to sleep at night pls let me know. She will sleep on me, but wakes up once in her basket without fail. She's a sound sleeper during the day though!

zaffa · 16/12/2019 04:58

Just read the rest of the thread. I'm so sorry to everyone going through hard times, anxiety or other stressors.
I don't sleep but I do count my blessings that the reason I don't sleep is so wonderful.

Care to share your reason?

elastamum · 16/12/2019 05:11

I have just come back from New Zealand. My body thinks it's daytime

rhubarbcrumbles · 16/12/2019 05:12

because I can't sleep? Xmas Grin

I was shattered all day yesterday, fell into bed at about 10pm and woke up an hour or so ago and couldn't get back to sleep.

twentynineyears · 16/12/2019 05:28

My dp committed suicide three months ago. I was fired due to being signed off after his death. I don't sleep well anyway right now but have a job interview in the morning for a job I don't want but applied for out of desperation.

I don't think I'm going to go to the interview.

twentynineyears · 16/12/2019 05:30

I should probably go to the interview. But I'm going to be an absolute mess by 11.30am.

Veronicat · 16/12/2019 05:31

Because it's my birthday and the dog needs meds in 30 minutes.

Beautiful3 · 16/12/2019 05:37

I need a wee, but if I go to the toilet I'll wake up the puppy with his super sonic hearing.

katmarie · 16/12/2019 06:21

@twentynineyears I am so sorry for your loss, that's awful. If you go to the interview you can at least say you gave it a shot. And the next interview wont be so scary.

I'm up because dd 7 weeks is up and feeding. Again. She also thinks night time is for feeding and not sleeping. Although I cant complain too much, she's asleep on my chest right now and I'm loving the cuddles.
