Why are you awake?

Sorry if there's already a thread like this. Signed off work with stress, battling a variety of demons. Despite only getting about four hours' sleep last night I can't sleep at the moment. Add to that visitors making snarky comments making me feel bad. Just feel like all my questions need answering right now and feel stuck in my self-destructive behavioursSad

Loubie I am so sorry Flowers

Novina · 16/12/2019 02:26

Flowers loubielou4 That's really tough.

puds11 · 16/12/2019 02:28

@loubieloo4 Flowers I’m so sorry, I cannot begin to imagine how you are feeling.

@TheoriginalLEM, I’m sorry to hear that. I hope things improve for you Flowers

loubieloo4 · 16/12/2019 02:28

Thank you for the flowers and hugs

@Fouroutoffour I have an amazing mum who has literally been our rock, I don't know what we would have done without her.

It's always in the night that you start thinking 💭

managedmis · 16/12/2019 02:32

Another one across the pond. It's only 9.30pm here

RoonyTunes · 16/12/2019 02:35

Not surprised you can't sleep @loubieloo

I am lucky, I have been declared cancer free after nearly a year of treatment for Stage 3 breast cancer but I haven't had a full night's sleep since I was diagnosed back in March. Lunchtime here now though (Sydney) so I'm supposed to be awake.

ToadandTadpole · 16/12/2019 02:35

Because my 4 week old DS is asleep on my chest and I can't stop watching him sleep. He's my first child and I'm completely in love.

Fouroutoffour · 16/12/2019 02:36

Oh and the bloody cat keeps insisting on lying on me. Far too warm!

hazeyjane · 16/12/2019 02:39

Vomiting child (as usual)
Worry (as usual)

@loubieloo4 Flowers

Fouroutoffour · 16/12/2019 02:39

@ToadandTadpole yay!!! Four weeks is so little! It just keeps getting better and better! A while ago I had to concede that I must have always had this intense love for DS, because it wasn't possible to actually love him more today than yesterday, every daySmile

GiveHerHellFromUs · 16/12/2019 02:40

@loubieloo4 I'm so sorry Flowers

I'm up because dickhead DP has been up to the toilet twice, pulled the duvet off me both times because he 'thought it was his side' then had a sneezing fit and woke the baby up.

He's now snoring. Prick.

Horsemad · 16/12/2019 02:43

Because the damn cat wants to get in our room, so is miaowing and scratching and generally raising merry hell.

Horsemad · 16/12/2019 02:47

Flowers loubie

Fouroutoffour · 16/12/2019 03:07

I'm going to have another go at sleeping...

OP posts:
ItsNearlyMorning · 16/12/2019 03:12

Restless legs , insomnia, over active mind since having a bleed on my brain stem in August.
Last night I had 3 hours sleep, woke at 5 to midnight and I've been awake since.
This has happened every night for months since I became unwell.
I'm going to the GP tomorrow because I'm going out of my mind and the extreme tiredness ( awake for over 20 hours out of 24 ffs) is killing me.

Happyspud · 16/12/2019 03:13

I’m awake because I was stressed and busy yesterday holding a big family party/dinner for my 4 yr olds birthday and I was a bit mean to my 5yr old roughly taking the iPad from her in front of everyone and then didn’t give her time later at bedtime when she was complaining that everyone is mean to her. I’m not as good a parent as I thought I’d be. But I will apologise to her when we get up. I’m not a mollycoddler type of parent but I really didn’t respond well or properly to her yesterday and I think she needed it.

chilimartini · 16/12/2019 03:25

@loubieloo4 Thanks🙏🏽 thinking of you xx

kristallen · 16/12/2019 03:26

Nightmares. Almost every night. Massively vivid dreams on the other nights which wake me up with a racing heart and stone cold fear.

Mumsnet is what takes my mind off them and gives me the chance, eventually, to fall asleep again.

I wish I didn't need to sleep. I can control what happens during waking hours. At night I go to horrible places all based on things I never wanted to experience again.

ShippingNews · 16/12/2019 03:34

I'm in Australia - it's 1-30pm here, and HOT. We're in the middle of a heat wave. I just finished the last of my Christmas shopping, and am having lunch in my air conditioned sitting room. Bliss !

Spam88 · 16/12/2019 03:37

Just got home from the hospital having given birth to my little boy last night 😍

NigellaAwesome · 16/12/2019 03:44

Stress at work - signed off sick. Mind racing.

The cat is delighted that someone is now downstairs to play with her in the middle of the night.

kristallen · 16/12/2019 03:45

Spam88 Congratulations! 😀

BeefPho · 16/12/2019 03:45

Breastfeeding toddler woke me up and now I'm wide awake

BaggaChips · 16/12/2019 03:50

Sitting up in bed with croupy child while he watches a film to distract him from the barking cough.

I'm sorry that so many of you are having such difficult times xxx

YappityYapYap · 16/12/2019 03:52

My DS is not well with a cough. He woke us up and wouldn't calm/settle so DH has taken him out in the car as that usually works. I'm just waiting for them to get back
