I'm poorly with a stomach bug and in bed but I'm really hungry. I can't decide what I fancy though! Tell me your go to food that always makes you feel better when you're ill...

Mine is more for a cold/sore throat than gut problems but it's hot mashed potato with a poached or soft boiled egg on top.
See also - cream of tomato soup with a spoonful of mash in it.
In your position I'd probably try some packet chicken noodle soup. Hot and nourishing but light.
(very easy to make if you have some chicken stock-pot capsules , just add water and some small pasta shapes, or break spaghetti into very short lengths and simmer it in the stock.)

Toast with butter and maybe a little jam. Or soft boiled egg and some toast.

Knorr packet chicken noodle soup

Poached egg on toast with butter.

Tea - never coffee and I drink lots of coffee!

Roast chicken and then chicken noodle soup.

DD has had an awful virus and been really poorly. After being awake virtually constantly since Thursday (worrying about her 40 degree temperature and setting my alarm every three hours to check on her/give meds) I am coming down with it myself.

The only thing I did yesterday was make a roast chicken dinner. Virtually the only thing I have done today is make chicken noodle soup with the carcass.

Heinz mushroom soup. Macaroni cheese.

Kanga83 · 15/12/2019 17:23

Banana sliced on cheap white bread as a sandwich. It's gentle on the tummy but full of vitamins from the banana, or Heinz tomato soup.

Breathmiller · 15/12/2019 17:23

I didn't feel well today, think the curry last night upset my stomach

Finally felt hungry and the only thing i could face was spaghetti and a plain jar of sauce and some parmesan on top.

Chicken and rice - very lightly boiled with onions, carrots and potatoes. Lots of black pepper. It's real invalid food but a variation on the theme of Jewish chicken soup I guess
