Mortifying first date, help me feel better?

Went on a first ‘date’ last night. I say date but really we’d been talking all day and I went out last night. Drunk messaged him and he came and met me. So we went for a drive. Basically I got in a car with someone I don’t know absolutely hammered. Not only that but I was so drunk that I made no conversation and all we did was drive to McDonald’s to pick my friend up some food then dropped me home. I even joked that he was my Uber drive cringe. Oh and to add to the already horrendous situation my card got declined.

Please tell me your first date stories to make me feel a tiny bit better

Lesson learned OP. I did shit like that when I was young too, can't believe I got away with it. It makes me cringe thinking about it. I've buried a lot of it in the depths of my brain never to be remembered hopefully.

I guess I was lucky. I once went back to a relative stranger's house (guy who a friend of on and off boyfriend had been playing football with) after said boyfriend turned up to our arranged meet up with a woman. I got smashed and went home with football guy because I wanted to avoid the night bus. I am now married to him and have been with him 23 years.

Well you have learnt and I’m quite sure many of us have done some stupid things when intoxicated

Dating or meeting up is different now to what many of us experienced

I’m sure I am not the only one who met guys at a club and went off to parties with them. I really don’t think my chatting to them while drinking or being drug induced really alerted me to any potential dangers though I convinced myself they did at the time. I think myself lucky to not have anything bad happen to me

Learn from it

Have you messaged him since?

Thank God nothing happened, please look after yourself and never do it again

To make you feel better. I once got in a car with complete strangers (a distant friend knew them) who gave me a lift home when I was very drunk. All male. I was extremely lucky nothing happened. I was scared the whole way home. Can't believe I got in.

For those asking if I’m going to see him again, I unmatched him when I got home but thought I’d check his Facebook just now out of curiosity and it says he’s in a relationship so I’m going to say I’ve had a lucky escape on all counts

Maybe he means with you op seeing as the date went so well?! Grin

OP, you can be a looser or a learner.
You sound like a learner to me.

No need for this to have been a life defining fxxx up.

You will be so flipping lucky if this is even half the worst of it!

Move on, watch yourself, keep yourself safe....always, and all will be fine.👍
