Just wondered, as I'm hoping to get mine up this afternoon Xmas Smile.

Yes. Just brining the tree in and have the stollen and mulled wine at the ready, for decorating this afternoon Smile

PresidentBartlett · 14/12/2019 11:43

We are! I'm currently skiving off from tidying the house whilst DH and the kids go to pick the tree. By the end of today Christmas will have arrived!

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 14/12/2019 11:43

Yup we will be! Need to send OH out to get one first. Looking forward to having it up. Do you have a real one or artificial? I like real because you don’t have to do the boring bit of building it Crown Grin

Hopefully tomorrow when DD comes home from university

PajamasnoDramas · 14/12/2019 11:44

Yes, here too. Traditionally parents put tree up mid December- we had real trees then - and it’s a tradition I’m sticking with!

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 14/12/2019 11:46

It's an artificial one - I find an artificial one stands up better to inquisitive moggies! We used to have a real one when I was a child, and they're lovely, but a real one would never make it to Christmas day with my maniac young cat climbing up and down it all the time Xmas Grin.

DH has just gone out to buy one, but it probably won't go up until next weekend. I might start doing other bits of decorating though, and just do the tree last minute. I normally leave it till a few days before Christmas but I'm starting to feel festive Xmas Smile

Breathmiller · 14/12/2019 11:58

Yes. We are probably going to go and buy one and put it up tomorrow. Quite early for me, its been known to be the weekend before Christmas.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 14/12/2019 11:58

If I can face going into the loft, yes :)

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 14/12/2019 12:05

My parents are arriving for their Christmas stay next week, so I wanted the house to look nice and festive for them when they arrive (they've had a bit of a crap year, health-wise) which is why I've gone for this weekend rather than next weekend. Plus, I will be taking it down on Jan 2nd rather than 12th night so I want it up for a reasonable length of time.

Me too! Just brought DH's childhood wooden sled down from the loft. Tree usually sits on that. Need to go find the decorations next.

DH will be back soon with the tree so hopefully by tonight we'll be done. We usually get our tree at the beginning of December but not been feeling terribly festive with the state of the world right now!

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 14/12/2019 12:13

The wooden sled sounds lovely, brass. Mine will be perched on a small table that normally has a lamp on it, as I don't really have a suitable space on the floor for it.

I take the tree very seriously LOL. I'm sure yours will be a lovely welcome for your parents. Once those twinkly lights go on its ChristmasSmile

Bohemienne · 14/12/2019 12:23

I wanted to put mine up today but dd2 very unhelpfully failed to tell me until last night that she has an all-day rehearsal for a Christmas show.

So it's going to have to be tomorrow afternoon Xmas Sad. I'm going to get DH to put some lights up anyway as I've had enough of the gloom and doom (literal and metaphorical) around here.

fussychica · 14/12/2019 12:24

Put it up on Wednesday as soon as we got back from abroad. I love the way the house looks when the tree goes up and I always think it looks that bit colder and less cosy once it's gone.

BeTheHokeyMan · 14/12/2019 12:26

Me Xmas Smile I feel like I must be the last person on the planet to put our tree up! Just a combination of sickness bugs and long work hours we just haven't gotten round to it yet

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 14/12/2019 12:32

It does look less cosy when the tree comes down, but it also gives a sort of fresh start feeling in the New Year.

I dislike claustrophobic cosy. When the tree comes down my living room is brighter, airier, cleaner looking and bigger.

Redcrayons · 14/12/2019 13:08

Me. It's soaking in a bucket outside and I'll be bringing it in this afternoon.

Ive been feeling like the last person on earth to do it, there's lights everywhere in my town and a couple of people are shocked when I tell them Ive hardly done any Christmas prep yet.

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 14/12/2019 13:19

Yes, our neighbours have had their tree up since 1 December so we are lagging behind a bit!

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 14/12/2019 13:23

I love the coziness that the Christmas tree brings to my living room.

I also love the space and airiness when it is taken down!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/12/2019 13:31

Ours has been done today . Pre-lit fake , I put on an extra 2 sets of lights (plain white on static) , no baubles because we have New Cats Grin who I reckon would wreck anything too snazzy !

We watched "Lost Christmas " - Eddie Izzard film (family tradition ) while it was on.

Bohemienne · 14/12/2019 13:34

Must admit I left my non-tree lights up until the clocks went forward this year Xmas Blush.

brassbrass · 14/12/2019 16:26

All done! Enjoy your trees everyone Xmas Grin

ChangingStates · 14/12/2019 16:38

Hoping to buy one & put it up tomorrow- hope it's still easy to find ones for sale- would quite like a live potted one this year to try and keep until next year....
