Shameful reaction of Boris Johnson to picture of Jack Williment-Barr

How can Boris Johnson's reaction be justified? No doubt there are some who will try. He has no compassion and no respect for the little 4 year old and his family.

What do we know about the family and the circumstances? I recall Comrade Corbyn struggling with the masses in a "crowded" train - when he had a reservation well away from the proles in first class....

underneaththeash · 09/12/2019 15:59

More dull electioneering. Thank god we only have 3 more days of this.

AlternativePerspective · 09/12/2019 16:07

Well, I detest all of the party leaders, but I can’t help thinking that this one was probably a set-up. How convenient that a journalist had a picture of that child on the floor to show the PM. As much as I don’t want to give BJ credit for anything, I suspect there is a lot more to this and that the truth will later emerge.

E.g. have read a few stories in the press recently about people collapsing during the work capability assessments for instance where it has then emerged that they were queuing to collect their giro and had a heart attack which could have happened anywhere.

The party leaders here have a lot to answer for but so does the press.

The mother has described in detail what happened. The hospital trust has 'apolgised' and are 'extremely sorry' that there was no bed available. It was no set up and no more to the story. Whatever, it does not excuse BJ's appalling reaction having been shown a picture and asked for his comments. He is the one, as Prime Minister, who is ultimately responsible.

If my child or any member of my family were forced to lay on the floor as no bed was available, I too would be taking pictures.

Not a surprise his reaction. The only detail is probably has done over the years are phone numbers of the women he has been with whilst married to someone else.

IsItBetter · 09/12/2019 16:57

Looks like a boring setup by a "journalist" to me. Leeds infirmary are recipients of a £450m investment which wouldn't be possible if Jeremy Corbyn was allowed to bankrupt Britain.

Jeremy Corbyn in charge = no hospital bed for anyone. No beds for the many and not the few. Everyone can be jobless and poor together, sucking on the teet of the state.

rhubarbcrumbles · 09/12/2019 17:00

@underneaththeash FFS this is not dull electioneering as you put it, this is about an extremely valid complaint made by a family about the appalling lack of care given to their son through no fault of the medical staff.

Tories on Mumsnet seem to think that Boris Johnson is beyond reproach and that he and his government should be allowed to do whatever they fucking want because they are so wonderful.

They are not wonderful, they are ruining this country and the Tory voters who are defending them are too fucking blinkered to see this. Either that or they are as bad as the prime minister and his government and don't care.

It's pathetic and so is anybody who votes for them.

LizzieSiddal · 09/12/2019 17:03

Johnson repeatedly tried to evade the question about the state of the NHS, he kept saying 'I haven't seen the photo', so the reporter tried to show it to him. The fact he took the phone and put it in his pocket, rather than look at that photo, shows that Johnson does not give a fuck about the NHS or indeed a child lying on the floor in a British hospital, whilst receiving treatment.

He's a despicable human being and if he gets back into No 10 on Friday, the UK is fucked.

LochJessMonster · 09/12/2019 17:06

Can I ask what you wanted him to do in regards to this photo?
He didn't put the child on the floor and hes hardly going to comment on something that he doesn't know the full ins and outs of.
It is up to the hospital to make a statement regarding what happened.

rhubarbcrumbles · 09/12/2019 17:07

Can I ask what you wanted him to do in regards to this photo?

Show some fucking interest instead of spouting more lies.

IsItBetter · 09/12/2019 17:09

"He's a despicable human being and if he gets back into No 10 on Friday, the UK is fucked."

Er no, if Corbyn is in power on Friday the UK is fucked... in fact soon after he gets in power you'll lose access to the internet when they expropriate BT openreach and fuck up broadband for the entire country, run for the benefit of his union mates.

No more mumsnet for you in that scenario...

LizzieSiddal · 09/12/2019 17:10

He didn't put the child on the floor

He is the PM, his party have been in over for 9 years. They are running the NHS into the ground. We're the sixth richest country in the world. Where is all the money? Why is the NHS in such a desperate state?

LizzieSiddal · 09/12/2019 17:14

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, you just sound ridiculous.

And as an aside, I and millions in this country already have shit internet, and trying to get any help from the private companies who are allowed to get away with disgraceful customer service (see also trains). I think it's time for a change, privatisation certainly isn't working for millions of people.

IsItBetter · 09/12/2019 17:21

I don't know how to break this to you, but last time the Labour party were in power they brought the country to the brink of bankruptcy. They even left a droll message to the incoming government to tell them there was no money left. Britain was on its knees.

Let me ask you a question: if you spend more than you earn for years on end do you have to make cutbacks or do you continue splurging cash?

The Conservative party: fixing Labour's fuck ups for the last 100 years.

"I think it's time for a change, privatisation certainly isn't working for millions of people."

I don't know if you have relatives who lived through the 1970s, who experienced nationalised British industry, who drove an Austin, who saw unions rule the country and hold the whip hand over everything in the country? They used to call Britain the sick man of Europe. Ask them about it.

There has never been a successful centrally planned socialist/Marxist country in the history of the world... there's a reason for that... because it's inefficient, unproductive, undemocratic and ultimately collapses on its own weight.

You need to have a reality check.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 09/12/2019 17:29

Firstly, I think the global banking crisis might have had something to do with it, Isit.
Secondly, the IFS have been as critical of the Tories funding issues as they have labour ones.
And then there’s brexit.

I don’t think anybody supporting the Tory party should be pointing the finger at labour when it comes to the economy at this point.

rhubarbcrumbles · 09/12/2019 17:30

I fail to see how anyone can excuse his actions...again.

They know that they can't excuse their actions but they are so fucking selfish about their own interests being more important than the welfare of the many that they keep on trying to do so. They are pathetic.

IsItBetter · 09/12/2019 17:31

"Isit please explain why our national debt has increased in the last 9 years if the Tories are so very competent"

The Tories inherited a situation where we had a current account deficit of nearly 10%... it's currently running at under 1.5%, one of the lowest in the G20. It's because of the tough austerity years that this has been accomplished, and because of these savings that we can now move forward.

Labour would send us back into countless years of austerity going forward... this Cornyn McDonell Marxist shadow cabinet are the worst I've ever seen, my son (and grandchildren if he has any) would be paying for their stupidity for decades to come.

IsItBetter · 09/12/2019 17:35

"I don’t think anybody supporting the Tory party should be pointing the finger at labour when it comes to the economy at this point."

Oh yes we can, the Labour party would bankrupt Britain for the reasons I've already set out. As soon as the Labour party got into power, Sterling would collapse, interest rates would rise, and foreign investment would vanish.

Just look at what has happened to exchange rates over the last 2 weeks... markets relief that it looks like the Tories will get a majority... and that's despite the fact that the Tories are pursuing Brexit while Corbyn (allegedly) wants to stay in.

People see this and immediately go, oh Corbyn blah blah blah.
What does Boris have to do to prove what a fool he is? He's clearly trying to show who he is.

rhubarbcrumbles · 09/12/2019 17:37

Precisely that Smile

"a large proportion of our population lack empathy"

There's something a bit disgusting about the fake moralising of the Left, as if anyone who doesn't agree with them doesn't care about others or society.

Newsflash: nearly everyone wants a fair, just society where people have the best opportunities in life; we just disagree with how to reach our destination.

And with that, I bid you all good evening!
