Is there a monetary limit, op?

AgnesNaismith · 09/12/2019 13:20

The Highline is my dream NY hotel

margotsdevil · 09/12/2019 13:26

Another vote for the Roosevelt. Stunning lobby, rooftop bar and central enough to feel "in" New York whilst being able to get peace for a decent night's sleep! Would definitely stay again.

I like The Four Seasons and the St Regis. Both in grteat locations but quite different in style.

Strokethefurrywall · 09/12/2019 15:44

I usually stay at Gramercy Park hotel, exceptional. Roaring fire as you enter and fabulous cocktail bar. Lots of Hollywood 'slebs if you're into that sort of thing (Ryan Reynolds/Jake Gyllenhall both stayed whilst I was there).

Otherwise, had a good experience at The Freehand as well. Younger clientele and a "hostel" feel but in a good way. Also great restaurant adjoined with excellent breakfasts.

Otherwise The Ludlow. Have fun!

New York Palace.
Amazing lookind down on the roofs of St Patricks Cathedral 5th Avenue, covered in snow.

The Langham on Fifth Avenue is lovely.

If money is no object I recommend The Plaza. Amazing iconic place, superb service, and great location

MissConductUS · 09/12/2019 16:31

New Yorker here.

You've gotten some good suggestions. My only advice would be to avoid "too good to be true" prices. The market is extremely competitive and if it's really cheap there's going to be a reason.

If you really want to splurge, the Waldorf or the Plaza are great. Otherwise I'd stick with one of the big chain hotels to ensure a minimum standard.

Thanks for coming to see us. We love our UK tourists. Smile

We stayed at the Andaz on 5th Avenue. Great hotel and brilliant location. We will definitely go back

Milomonster · 09/12/2019 16:49

How long is a piece of string - you haven’t State budget....

pallisers · 09/12/2019 16:52

If I was really treating myself I'd stay in Crosby Street or The Whitby.

Cuddling57 · 09/12/2019 16:57

Oooo I'm following with interest Grin

Mummyshark2018 · 09/12/2019 16:59

I've stayed in Hilton 5th Avenue- was fab, Salisbury hotel (close to Central Park) - great sized rooms and perfect for a family/ large group. Was a bit dated but this was 10 years ago.

Eventrider1 · 09/12/2019 17:10

I stayed in 'The Time' hotel. It had a great location and the rooms were nice enough. Not super luxury but clean, modern and spacious.

RainbowSparkles · 09/12/2019 17:22

I love the New Yorker, have stayed there twice.
The staff are lovely and the location is great, opposite Penn station and Madison square garden, also not to far from the empire state building, times square and Macys.

HelloViroids · 09/12/2019 17:23

Plaza was very dated and old fashioned seeming when I last went. I’d go to the Standard Highline or Gramercy Park if I could afford it - also loved the Greenwich Hotel and 11 Howard.

firstimemamma · 09/12/2019 17:25

The park lane hotel is beautiful and right on the corner of Central Park. Expensive though.

WingingWonder · 09/12/2019 17:27

Stay in Williamsburg at the hoxton or one of the others near by- such a lovely area for eating drinking and wandering and a short boat or tube accross to Manhattan

LesLavandes · 09/12/2019 17:30

I love the New York Palace

Expressedways · 09/12/2019 17:34

My favourites are The Refinery or Gramercy Park.
The Plaza (DH) and the Palace (me) are where DH and always used to stay when we went to NY as kids but we’ve tried them as adults and felt underwhelmed. They’re extremely nice but just not very exciting.

mylaptopismylapdog · 09/12/2019 17:52

Wherever you stay the bar at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is worth the trip across the river in the evening.

Trying81 · 09/12/2019 18:51

We stayed at The Renwick - great spot right near Grand Central station, and a Shake Shack a block away

ssd · 09/12/2019 18:56

The pierre Hotel.
