Talk to me about margaritas

So we were away in a big lodge at the weekend and I made margaritas! I bought 15 limes and squeezed Them all to get the juice – took me bloody ages! So what do people in cocktail bars do? Is there an easier way? I looked in Tesco for fresh lime juice but it apparently doesn’t exist so I just wondered for next time how other people do it and if there is an easier way?!

Margarita mix from the supermarket.

gobbynorthernbird · 05/12/2019 18:21

Try Amazon for fresh lime juice (unless you want wholesaler quantities). Also, what sort of squeezer do you have? This type is used in most bars.

Warm the limes slightly before squeezing - roll between your hands or pop them in the microwave. Makes it much easier to juice.

Not really helpful but one of my best memories is of getting a bit tipsy on margaritas, on the beach in Mexico. When I was young and free and on a 3 month trip to central and South America. Thanks for the memory on this cold and dark Manchester night!

I was thinking about pizzas.. I need to go out more Confused

My MIL makes amazing ones with tequila, triple sec, lemonade, and lime cordial. Fresh lime is nice but this is a good alternate with easier to find ingredients.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 05/12/2019 18:33

Yes the lime squeezing is the bitch

Get a Mexican lime squeezer!

nakedavengeragain · 05/12/2019 18:37

I feel your pain. We are in NZ and use this. Life changing!

Failing that a food processor with a spinning squeezer

I use this, tequila and ice. Blitz it in the Nutri Blend. It's amazing! I get it online. Think it's the Drink Store or something similar.

Get the ready made stuff from the supermarket. Asda had some recently then add a bit of extra tequila and triple sec as tastes desire. Remember to pack the limes and salt for garnish

nakedavengeragain · 05/12/2019 18:39

Those Margherita mixes make a very different cocktail to a fresh lime version and they are crammed with sugar. Not my taste I'm afraid.

dayswithaY · 05/12/2019 18:50

Can you use Rose's lime cordial?

Belleende · 05/12/2019 18:54

They are ace, and if made well get you a fizzy kind of pissed no other drink will

fishonabicycle · 05/12/2019 18:58

Lime cordial would be rank! You just have to deal with juicing them. Like previous poster said - warm them a little first. Proper margaritas are absolutely brilliant!

lifeisgoodagain · 05/12/2019 19:02

Lime juice is in the cooking ingredients section and the Indian food aisle

SuzieBishop · 05/12/2019 19:05

Ace thanks for all the tips - and for that link @TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead - love the username also!!! I did used to use that premix stuff but it’s just not the same!!! Lime squeezing here we go!

The squeezer I had @gobbynorthernbird was just my hands!!!

OP posts:
gobbynorthernbird · 05/12/2019 19:11

Do you mean you were just using your hands to squeeze the limes, @SuzieBishop? Bloody hell! No wonder it took you forever.
The ones as above (another poster has linked to the same type) will make things a lot easier.

SuzieBishop · 05/12/2019 19:22

Yep just cutting the limes in half and squeezing on my own 😂 I had to call for help as it was taking forever!! I’ll be adding the squeezer to my Santa list!

You can buy lime juice from the supermarket, look in the home baking area it'll be next to the lemon juice.

I am also huge fan of margaritas. Therefore i recently purchase one Lime Squeezer. Luckily i got reference to a blog on it from which i also got to know What Customers Have To Say each product which helps me. Now looking forward to make some margaritas.
