Is this rude?

I found a drivers licence recently. I messaged a guy on FB who looked very similar, same age and lived In the area. Asked if he had lost his licence and said I could send a pic. All he sent was a thumbs up. I sent a pic back and asked if it was his. Nothing for nearly a week. Then a load of Chinese writing. He’s clearly not Chinese and neither am I. I just told him he’d find it In the bin (it’s in my knicker drawer) and have blocked him. I felt I was doing a nice thing and it feels like a slap in the face. Also, should I just post it to the dvla? (Or put in the bin as planned??!!)

Drivers licenses have addresses on. I’ve used mine for dbs checks for years. Why don’t you post it to the address on it?

Lovemenorca · 28/11/2019 07:24

* I just told him he’d find it In the bin (it’s in my knicker drawer) and have blocked him*

Very rude. Unnecessary too.

What effort have you really gone to?! Yes you’ve been nice to contact him and he’s been odd.

In any event, official advise is * If you find a UK driving licence, please return it to: DVLA Swansea, SA6 7JL*

Sparklingbrook · 28/11/2019 07:28

YY post it to the address on it.

It just said a farm and when I googled it, it just said a road so I was unsure. The trouble is, because of the odd behaviour, i’m Not actually sure it’s him.

OP posts:
SuperMeerkat · 28/11/2019 07:33

I’ll just post it to the DVLA, i’m too soft for my own good tbh.

PurpleDaisies · 28/11/2019 07:34

I don’t understand why you’re Facebook stalking. There’s no need. Just send it to the DVLA.

Yeahnahyeah1 · 28/11/2019 07:34

I think you’re being a bit melodramatic with the whole ‘I’m toooooo soft’ thing but yea post back to the dvla. It’s not really a drama.

PurpleDaisies · 28/11/2019 07:35

If it isn’t him, why should the actual owner lose out? Confused

SuperMeerkat · 28/11/2019 07:35

@PurpleDaisies I beg your pardon, FB stalking! Are you kidding 🤦‍♀️😂

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 28/11/2019 07:36

It’s really weird to go on Facebook in the way you have.

You have handled this very strangely.

icelollycraving · 28/11/2019 07:38

How odd. The whole thing tbh, the responses from both of you and your whole I’m too soft thing. Stick it in the post to dvla, helpful but not dramatic,

Sparklingbrook · 28/11/2019 07:39

What an unnecessary drama, just post it back.

MyFartWillGoOn · 28/11/2019 07:45

Really sorry OP but have to agree with others that going on FB, finding someone that looks like him and sending a message is really weird.

Post to DVLA as that's official advice-not sure why you'd do anything else or get worked up over it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Clangus00 · 28/11/2019 07:49

Why wouldn’t you just post it either to the address on the license or to the DVLA?
Why would your first response be Facebook?
Weird.

LannisterLion1 · 28/11/2019 07:53

Send to the dvla like you've said. That's not soft, it's normal behaviour.

Lovemenorca · 28/11/2019 07:56

What do you mean “it just said a farm”
It would have said his full address

Pinkblueberry · 28/11/2019 07:58

People do this with bank cards on spotted pages, it drives me insane. Just hand it into the bank - I don’t want to meet up with some randomer to get my card back and plenty of people don’t even follow these pages.
I agree with PP your response was weird. Clearly you don’t know this person properly, photos on driving liscences aren’t that clear and don’t match up that well with any regular photo on Facebook. Meanwhile the person who it does belong to still doesn’t know where their liscence is. Social media isn’t everything and doesn’t need to be the go to place to try and solve things - are you a teenager? Stop fannying around on Facebook and just send it to address or DVLA.

Scotinthenorth · 28/11/2019 07:59

It might not even be him. You said it just looks like him. Seems to me you want patted on the back for doing a good deed

Yeahnahyeah1 · 28/11/2019 07:59

What do you mean “it just said a farm”
It would have said his full address
I thought that 😂 Farms don’t often have street names to be attributed to.

Pinkblueberry · 28/11/2019 08:00

What do you mean “it just said a farm”

Maybe it’s a shit fake licence.

Butternutsqoosh · 28/11/2019 08:02

My address is Farm Name, No Road, Village but my licence is real!!

Pinkblueberry · 28/11/2019 08:02

Why wouldn’t you just post it either to the address on the license or to the DVLA?

As a pp said, OP probably wants a pat on the back and a big thankful fuss made about it. There’s no glory in just sending it to the DVLA.

Pinkblueberry · 28/11/2019 08:03

@Butternutsqoosh sorry, no offence meant Smile

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/11/2019 08:04

Why didn't you post it to him?

Maybe his phone or computer glitched hence the Chinese writing.

You could also have put the Chinese text into google translate.

Yes you were incredibly rude.
I'm guessing if you're asking whether he was but you definitely were.

fernandoanddenise · 28/11/2019 08:06

If u find something and don’t post a pic on Facebook did u even find it at all tho Grin
