...what their favourite Christmas present was, that they received as a child?
I asked mine this evening after reading a couple of threads from people who are struggling with Christmas.
Dd1 27 said her most favourite presents was mousetrap.
Dd2 22 said her favourite gift was a nail dryer shaped like a dog.
Neither of these were expensive and they actually can't remember most of their "main gifts".
So I was just wondering what was your child's favourite gift?

@DragonMamma I had one like that one Christmas I absolutely adored it, mine was lilac though. I got Bros, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan tapes to go with it.

Apart from the above I have a few other Christmas presents I loved too;
• A dolls pushchair, must have been around 6 it was cream with a navy corduroy hood
• My cabbage patch kids dolls, they still ‘live’ at my mums
• A red hi-fi (an upgrade from the above tape player) it had a record player and two cassette players, I thought I was the bees knees because I could put the speakers in different parts of my room.

As an adult without a doubt DD1 (although she was slightly late!) I know it sounds incredibly corny

They would probably say the ds's they had, they still use them 14 odd years on. Subsequent tech breaks quickly

imoverworkedandunderpaid · 26/11/2019 23:25

A Lego set. I had slept with a picture of this particular set under my pillow for literally months.
The feeling when I actually got it on Christmas morning was unbelievable 😊

My favourite thing was a toy treehouse. It had a swing, a slide and a dog. I was devastated when my mum got rid of it when I was about 11 as she said I was too old for it. I still haven't got over it to this day. God I loved that treehouse. I had always wanted a dolls house but we were too poor and this was the next best thing.

Record player
Grease album
Dress like the girls from grease wore!

I had a beautiful Silver Cross Carriage Pram in cream with a Green Hood and Apron bought for me by my grandparents. I fell in love with it and walked up and down outside our house with my favourite doll in it. I really wish it had been saved but I don’t know what happened to it when I outgrew it. It was probably too big to store anywhere.

My Jem and the holograms dolls. I loved playing with them so much. They each came with a poster and cassette, I listened to them over and over again and believed I was actually going to be Jem when I grew up, or at the very least, have pink hair.

Drum kit!

Bunney2020 · 26/11/2019 23:47

Oh, a giant Coca Cola hifi that was shaped like a can. I adored that thing!!

For me, it would either be my plush My Little Pony Lickety Split, or the Fluppy.

Sammi I had the “I Want To Bite Your Finger” game, loved it! I seem to remember it would leave a circle of fake blood (ink) on your finger if you got bitten.

FenellaVelour · 26/11/2019 23:49

Sorry this was like my Fluppy, I wonder where my one ended up. My mum took all my toys to the tip after I’d saved my favourites in the attic 😕 I don’t think I’ve ever truly forgiven her!

My cassette tape player/recorder, it was black and funky silver squiggly bits across the from and round the speakers and a clear blank cassette tape that had pastel colours spools and bits in it and I would sit and record the top 40 on a Sunday trying to hit record and stop to just get the songs, then the following year I got a walkman so could listen to my tapes on the go, but they got so stretched from the constant playing and recording that everything ended up really slurry.

MoiraRose · 26/11/2019 23:54

Its mad how many people are saying what their favourite toys were when OP actually said what was your child's favourite toy.

My DDs was a Sky Dancer when she was about 7. Kind of like a Barbie with a stand and a cord you pulled and she went flying across the room

Auberjean · 26/11/2019 23:55

One of mine spent all Xmas ages about 7 ignoring all requested gifts, and playing with the toy Police handcuffs bought by his great grandma.

JumpiestBat · 26/11/2019 23:55

As a teen, a double set of Marks and Spencer deodorants. Night and day themed and the night one smelled like pepsi cola. Never matched that satisfying scent but it was probably just a filler pressie.

Drabarni · 26/11/2019 23:56

"Now that's what I call music" cd.
No number required Grin They must have thought there would be just the one.

PlasticPatty · 27/11/2019 00:02

I don't see dd until tomorrow, but my favourite present was a 'big doll', two foot high or more, a little girl doll not a baby. I liked her very much and called her Suzette after a character in a book. I did cut off her eyelashes to see if they would grow again, but it turned out she wasn't 'real' so they didn't.

Nothingbutquestions · 27/11/2019 00:03

My Petit Talking Typewriter, I can still hear the electronic voice. The hardest word on the hardest level was conscientious and I still spell it out in the typewriter's voice when I write or type that word Grin

Nothingbutquestions · 27/11/2019 00:05

Oh and a Snow White figure made of soap, I can still remember what it smelled like.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 27/11/2019 00:07

Mine was a recorder and book. I had much more expensive gifts like a tv and cd player but the recorder stands out the most.

wafflyversatile · 27/11/2019 00:10

Another favourite was slime sometime in the 70s. It's not new!

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 27/11/2019 00:12

I remember getting a fisher price garage, with a lift, ramps, cars etc. I loved it, and spent hours playing with it 😃

My least favourite present was a gigantic doll. My parents were getting rather concerned about my toy preferences, so informed me that I would be getting a doll, despite my protests. She was huge, and called Georgina. I gave her a short back and sides, and enlisted her in the foreign legion 🤔

Titsywoo · 27/11/2019 00:17

My favourite present was a talking cabbage patch doll. It used to say some random crap such as "I like spinach and icecream" I wish I'd kept some of my toys.

BillHadersNewWife · 27/11/2019 00:24

Waffly me too! Mine was purple with worms in it! It came in a plastic dustbin! I forgot all about that till you mentioned it! The worms were so realistic!
