1-10, how offended would you be if your partner called you a cunt in anger?

Just that, on a scale of 1-10

Yes I have to admit I'd find bitch or slut much more offensive.

BertrandRussell · 25/11/2019 19:55

“ BertrandRussell I genuinely use both interchangeably.”

Yes- I understand that. But it’s not how the word is usually perceived in the U.K. Think about the watershed, for example. Prick and cunt are definitely on different sides of it!

JumpiestBat · 25/11/2019 19:59
  1. I am divorced and for all our collective sins after 17 years we managed never to call each other anything like that.
dirtyrottenscoundrel · 25/11/2019 20:11

Has anyone ever said the word cunt on TV?
I’ve never heard it I must say.

SandraOhshair · 25/11/2019 20:14

It would be a game changer for me, wether is was said under his breath or shouted at me.
But we dont call each other any type of names or insults so for me that word would be very very extreme.

isabellerossignol · 25/11/2019 20:15

Johnny Rotten used it on TV. But there were complaints and that's the only time I can think of.

BertrandRussell · 25/11/2019 20:18

I’m sure I’ve heard it on things like Live at the Apollo- but maybe not. But that makes my point even more strongly...

PinkBalloon123 · 25/11/2019 20:21

Wouldn't bother me but we are both foul mouthed in general anyway

PlasticPatty · 25/11/2019 20:21

Not very. I call a cunt a cunt.

But if a partner used that word, or any other offensive term, in bed - that would be serious.

DogAndCatPerson · 25/11/2019 20:25

Depends on the scenario but probably around 6/10.

WWlOOlWW · 25/11/2019 20:25

It's not the swear word someone chooses to say but the way they use it.

BF and I swear a lot. The word cunt, bitch, wanker, slag etc doesn't offend me.. and if said in a jokey context, I've no problem with it.

If any swear word was said in anger I'd not be happy and depending on the context if leave / ask the other person to leave.

Bananacentral · 25/11/2019 20:25

10 for sure

CFlemingSmith · 25/11/2019 20:27
  1. Said in anger. Not likely meant. Difficult when I don't know the context
Atalune · 25/11/2019 20:28

My husband said to me in anger “fuck you”.

It was very very out of character and I was outraged. Took a while to move on from and he really was apologetic.

He said for him, yes it was bad but wasn’t THAT bad. For me it was a red line and he needed to get that. He gets it now. He wouldn’t dare. He’d be out if he said it again.

So the c bomb could be something similar??

Atalune · 25/11/2019 20:30

And what I had to drum home is that he doesn’t get to decide what I don’t like or won’t accept.

LEBW · 25/11/2019 20:31

Depends if he uses the word in general anyway. My DH does (I don't unless extremely angry and only in front of him) and when I have done something very stupid he's called it me in anger. If he never used the word and then called it me think I'd be more shocked.

That's my logic anyway, funny what we put up with for love I guess haha.

ExcitedForFuture · 25/11/2019 20:34
  1. We both swear, quite a bit. But I'd never accept being sworn at like that. It shows a total lack of respect. I wouldn't call DP names either (other than when we're joking around).
NotYourHolidayDick · 25/11/2019 20:38

Dear god are you all so dramatic usually?

I call my husband a fucking arsehole all the time. He chucks stuff back at me. It's just letters put together to make an impact!

I've been called a cunt more times than I care to remember. And it's usually a spot on description of my behaviour 🙈

We don't care. We love each other really.

BertrandRussell · 25/11/2019 20:45

Nope. Not dramatic at all. Just would object very strongly to being called a deeply offensive misogynist insult.

Atalune · 25/11/2019 20:46

Well don’t you both sound delightfully charming notso

boredboredboredboredbored · 25/11/2019 21:26

0 for me. I'd probably call him one too though as I can swear like a trooper . I guess it depends how you feel about it though.

Bluerussian · 26/11/2019 05:16

It's vile that he called you that. I sincerely hope that language is never used in front of children.

TwoShades1 · 26/11/2019 05:20

Maybe 3? He does use the word often and I’ve definitely said shitty things to him during arguments. So it wouldn’t be a big deal.
