lucysmam · 22/11/2019 16:02

I haven't used it so don't want to pay for it...but can I work out how to cancel it?

Can I heck!

Anyone here able to tell me how?!

Is amazon or google down or both?

Surely the answer must be available on one of them Smile

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 22/11/2019 16:04

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?tag=mumsnetforu03-21&nodeId=202016220

Or google cancel amazon prime & click the link ☺️

NannyR · 22/11/2019 16:04

Google "how to cancel Amazon prime" and you'll get to the page you need. I agree, it's not obvious on the Amazon homepage.

Really hidden away, and beware, they ask you a hundred times "Are you sure", yes, I bloody well am!

lucysmam · 22/11/2019 16:06

Didn't think to stick it in google Grin I'm sat here clicking round amazon Hmm.

Thanks :)

Took me ages to do this too, they make it so difficult to find. Also, after I'd done it and they'd stopped taking payments, a couple of months went by... and they started taking payments again. Keep an eye on your bank account. God knows how much they're making out of this. Amazon Prime is a good service, but they're conning and stealing from people, too.

phone them up

msmith501 · 22/11/2019 16:23

Quickest way is to ring them. That's what I did.

icouldcareless · 22/11/2019 16:55

Didn't think to stick it in google

Sigh.

Eckhart · 22/11/2019 19:07

That was kind of you, @icouldcareless. I'm sure everything you do is perfect.

coconuttelegraph · 22/11/2019 19:52

I'm sure everything you do is perfect

Oh come on, the first stop for literally any query is google, it's hardly an indicator of perfection

lucysmam · 22/11/2019 21:06

@icloudcareless why the sigh?

@coconuttelegraph I kind of thought that clicking my way around Amazon would be my first port of call for an Amazon query...not google.

I looked on Amazon, I couldn't see what I wanted, I asked here. I very much doubt I'm the only person to ever do that...

Why don't you go piss on some happy threads over in Christmas or something equally as useful?

OP posts:
FOJeremy · 22/11/2019 21:11

Really? It’s very easy to cancel. We get these threads every year and it always baffles me

lucysmam · 22/11/2019 21:13

*FOJeremy it baffled me how to do it.

Some of the "will I die: I just ate this" threads baffle me. I either don't answer or give a sensible response...not try to belittle the Op :)

Deadringer · 22/11/2019 21:40

I cancelled mine no problem and they confirmed it was cancelled but the next month they charged me anyway, I contacted them and they refunded it very promptly. I found them great to deal with overall so don't worry, they make you go through a few hoops but they are not trying to do you.

Catandstuff22 · 22/11/2019 21:43

People really do take any opportunity to give someone a hard time don't they!
Hope you got it sorted OP.

Eckhart · 22/11/2019 22:11

deadringer If they're not trying to 'do' us, I have no idea how they can justify all the money they're taking 'by mistake'. I work with helping people sort out their finances, and must have had a hundred clients with Prime payments going out after they'd cancelled. Sometimes it happens several times to the same person, and Amazon often make it so hard to get a refund that people just give up.

And there's 2 people on this thread of 19 comments who they've tried to do it to - you and me.

I'm glad you've been able to get your money back. Keep watching your account in case they do it again!

Doingtheboxerbeat · 22/11/2019 22:19

I get why people ask on here rather than Google, not just this but when asking questions about politics or history. For me it's because the standard Google answer might use language, jargon or terminology that isn't always obvious to understand to everyone, you bunch of smart arses Wink.

Deadringer · 22/11/2019 23:23

Eckhart I can only state my own experience, and that was an immediate refund and an apology. No further issues at a year on.

icouldcareless · 23/11/2019 15:59

I get why people ask on here rather than Google

Well yes, so do I. But the OP stated that she hadn't even thought of using Google.

Anyway, I am much less grumpy today and I hope that you have managed to sort it out OP.

FWIW there was a resurrected zombie thread about this the other day with some current updates - might help you: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3076813-TO-NOT-WANT-FUCKING-AMAZON-PRIME
