What age child suitable for?

I read them as a child and loved them, and regard them as classics because of that and find some of the humour in the tintins hilarious... but some of it is too adult and too many poor role models and all the woman in tintin are depicted in an outlandish way and asterix is jolly violent...

Am I being precious? AIBU?!

Anyway - what age suitable for do you think?

Mine also read them and I might go the other way round.

I'd say they quite liked Asterix from around 6 but were definitely missing a lot of the humour in it at that age. But then they can just go back and read them again. They liked the jokes and the colourful style and the fun in the pictures.

I think mine found Tintin less exciting at that age though. They're fine content-wise I think, but I'd say slightly older kids might be more interested in Tintin. Maybe 8 or 9 upwards. (That might just be my kids' personal taste though). With both I think they read and reread them. My DH never got rid of his!
