Here is another thread to discuss the PA interview and its repercussions.

I thought Harry and Meghan had opted for Archie not to be hrh..not so

On 6 May 2019, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, welcomed the birth of their first child, a boy. According to the current regulations of the House of Windsor, the young Sussex baby, as the son of the second-ranked grandson of the sovereign of the United Kingdom (in terms of hierarchy), will not have the title HRH (His Royal Highness) by right – though the Queen may opt to extend this courtesy as she did for the younger children of the Duke of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. This is a minor point, however, as, when the Queen dies and the next reign begins under Prince Charles, Prince Harry’s children will move up one rank, from great-grandchildren to grandchildren of a sovereign, and will thus be entitled to the ‘Royal Highness’ styling by right, according to the ‘house rules’ of the Windsor dynasty.

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/11/2019 09:17

I don't think they get a say in the "house rules" but can opt to not use the HRH for him, much like the Wessexes have done for their children.

I don't know how I feel about PP - nothing I've read makes me feel especially warm towards him - but he had a very sad childhood and that often sets a course. I think he's quite a complex character. I have seen a lot of elderly people at the end of their life and it's hard to feel anything other than pity at this stage, whatever went before.

Moomin8 · 25/11/2019 10:00

Pity for someone who's a racist Nazi sympathiser?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/11/2019 10:12

Pity for someone very old and near the end of their life.

BertrandRussell · 25/11/2019 10:13

Actually, I don’t think age alone is a reason to pity someone. And I find the slack being cut for the Queen because she’s 93 a bit distasteful too. It’s either a job, in which case she needs to show herself competent to do it, like any other “working” person, or it isn’t- in which case what’s the point of her?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/11/2019 10:24

I wouldn't feel pity for anyone one the basis of age alone, either. I'm talking about an end of life scenario. Which I accept, may not apply here.

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/11/2019 10:28

Prince Philip is a Nazi sympathiser? God knows there's a lot of sins to lay at his door but I didn't think that was one of them.

sue51 · 25/11/2019 10:28

Is there evidence that PP has nazi sympathies? I thought he had an impressive war record ( fought for our side). He does come across as racist though.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 25/11/2019 10:30

PP fought for Britain in WW2. How is he a Nazi sympathiser?

WineOrGinOrBoth · 25/11/2019 10:31

Lots of people of his generation come across as racist. Times have thankfully changed but he is of that generation. Same as my Nan was - she couldn’t get it.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/11/2019 10:32

3 of Phillips sisters married Nazis, but they were specifically not invited to his wedding.

BertrandRussell · 25/11/2019 10:35

“ Lots of people of his generation come across as racist. Times have thankfully changed but he is of that generation.”
I’m sorry- but that is complete rubbish. And incredibly insulting to an entire generation.

Kissedafrog · 25/11/2019 10:52

It's gone all quiet at the DM. One discrete Andrew story below the fold with only few reader comments. Is the public ready to move on to the next news item?

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/11/2019 10:56

A lot was made some years ago when photos emerged of the Duke at a "Nazi funeral" but it was his sister's funeral so I'm not sure what else he could've done, given he was only about 16 at the time.

SirHumphreyDrinkalot · 25/11/2019 12:18

in which case what’s the point of her?

She is a figurehead @BertrandRussell but currently an ineffective one

Kissedafrog · 25/11/2019 14:26

Oh dear www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7722639/Royal-documentary-banned-Queen-1972-features-latest-series-Crown.html

Queen makes Prince Philip and Prince Charles roar with laughter as she describes the US Ambassador as a 'gorilla'.

However, for the most past the original documentary remains under lock and key with researchers having to pay to view it at BBC HQ, only after getting permission from Buckingham Palace first.

'You’re killing the monarchy, you know, with this film you’re making,’ the legendary anthropologist and wildlife expert David Attenborough wrote furiously in 1969 to the producer-director of the controversial and ground-breaking television documentary, Royal Family.

‘The whole institution depends on mystique and the tribal chief in his hut,’ continued Attenborough, then BBC 2 controller.

Fascinating!

AnyMinuteNow · 25/11/2019 14:30

Are you saying that was said in 72?

This thread is veering off track. Racism and nazis? Hmm

Is this because of lack of actual updates on the Epstein PA situation maybe

JaimeBronde · 25/11/2019 14:44

The Queen wasn't being racist.
The US ambassador was white.
The Home Secretary describes the US ambassador to HMQ as looking like a gorilla because of his long arms & short body.
HMQ pointed out that the Home Sec was being a bit unkind, however she did see what he meant & why.

One of my DUncles is extremely hairy & all of us nieces & nephews used to call him Uncle Bear Gorilla because of this.

Kissedafrog · 25/11/2019 15:04

I don't think it was racism AnyMinuteNow. But funny the queen thought it'd be a good idea to say it in front of running cameras. I supposes it's her prerogative to be arrogant.

Moomin8 · 25/11/2019 19:33

@Dowser have you seen this;

MissEliza · 25/11/2019 20:17

@AnyMinuteNow I think you're right.

OxfordCat · 25/11/2019 22:11

@Moomin8 wtf is that s@&£ you're posting? Sorry but that's such a load of crap! We KNOW JS was a monster- we don't need a ridiculous supernatural bollox to know that!

This thread is nothing to do with how it started anymore.

Moomin8 · 25/11/2019 22:19

How do you know though? Fact is certainly stranger than fiction and I find it odd that JS seemed to be connected to such powerful people and had open door access to royal houses.

Some people have no belief in spirituality but I personally think that's a bit naive.

Why would a disc jockey have such intimate relationships with the RF?
