Prince Andrews slip ups

he said LOADS of things during that interview, where he was telling the truth, and forgetting his lie.

the only one I can remember now though is when talking about visiting JE house in (Bahamas?? not the NY one anyway). a witness had said he went 4 times a year. He said something like; 'you have to understand, when you go into one of those places...'

that's not how you talk about a friend's house. what are 'those places'?

Charles has long been pushing for a slimmed down monarchy that mostly includes only the families in direct succession. He famously refused to allow Beatrice or Eugenie to be working royals - so they had to go to university and get jobs instead. He also removed the round the clock police protection from them because they weren't working royals and they had spent a couple of years taking virtually constant exotic holidays with police protection in tow and Charles disliked the poor publicity from that. PA of course feels slighted that his daughters are not being treated in the same footing as William and Harry (hardly surprising he demanded a full royal wedding for Eugenie).

Basically PA has spent his entire life watching his status become more and more irrelevant as he is bumped further away from the line of succession and from the slimming down of royals to be fully funded, so I think he resents that very much. On the other side I think Charles is annoyed by PA's hanging around with dubious people and making bad choices. It's a no brainer that Charles will sideline PA at the first opportunity IMO.

Interesting Rain. Can’t say I’d blame PC tbh.

diddl · 20/11/2019 16:58

Atm HM has her children & GC at a lot of events.

If PC does the same then there is a natural "slimming down" anyway.

Th government works for the queen. She has a huge amount of power. She simply chooses not to use it.

If she says the fbi cannot question Andrew in this country, that's it, they cannot, the government then blocks on her instruction. My understanding is that both the fbi and the French prosecutors asked her permission and she declined, as such the government is blocking.

It's like we can't question someone in America if trump blocks it.

However. And this is the big however, if for example Andrew landed in either France or the states, the authorities there could arrest him and question him. Hence why he is seemingly not going. And seemingly pulled out of chiracs funeral as he would have apparently been arrested on landing.

What they can't do is come to this country and do it. It's not in their jurisdiction. They can do it on their own turf though.

diddl · 20/11/2019 17:04

Why would she block questioning?

ColonelCathcart · 20/11/2019 17:56

I’ve been reminded of that line from The Thick Of It - “Who did your media training, Myra fucking Hindley?!”

A pp was asking about Ghislaine Maxwell. After her father’s death, she needed money to maintain her previous lifestyle - Epstein provided that; she provided him with connections into the upper echelons of society. And then the girls too.

vikkimoog · 20/11/2019 18:01

HES QUIT!!!

vikkimoog · 20/11/2019 18:02

sorry, forgot the apostrophe in my excitement

ajandjjmum · 20/11/2019 18:03

None of us KNOW the truth, but Andrew is not a likeable person, so many of us are prepared to accept the worst.

Sadly, that is partly the Queen's fault, as he's always been the favoured child, and thinks he is above everyone else.

ajandjjmum · 20/11/2019 18:03

DH just heard on the radio that HM has given him permission to step down from royal duties.

justasking111 · 20/11/2019 18:05

Heard on the news, very wise to do that.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/11/2019 18:09

watching paul Burrell on loose women right now

Was he laughing like a drain?

I would have been ...

x2boys · 20/11/2019 18:09

Well that,s inevitable I suppose I expect ,he will just slope off somewhere quietly , £270,000 is hardly a pittance ,but does he not have his own personal wealth ?

7salmonswimming · 20/11/2019 18:27

Pathetic, weak man, slinking off with his millions.

Doesn't even have the balls to face it down. Mummy probably gave him no choice.

Fucking wanker.

God these rich old white men give me the rage Angry

babydog · 20/11/2019 18:30

will we still be funding him?

"It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family's work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support.

"Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.

"I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein.

"His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure.

more like it !

ajandjjmum · 20/11/2019 18:35

7salmon - what does his colour have to do with it?

An incredibly unpleasant man - possibly a criminal - and he should now be made to face up legal enquiries.

x2boys · 20/11/2019 18:36

Yes I read that, peridito, he's had to finally acknowledge the victim,s !

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/11/2019 18:36

I presume the Queen will still fund him.
She’s a billionaire.
He deffo doesn’t need police protection.
I do feel a bit sorry for Princess Beatrice with her wedding coming up.

x2boys · 20/11/2019 18:39

Well i can't imagine Beatrice,s wedding being a public and televised affair?

AlorMy · 20/11/2019 18:41

So many are saying he should have been better prepared for the interview.

Frankly I’m glad he wasn’t. We got to see PA’s true colours and not some highly glazed, glossy media trained politician.

The idea of these people honestly believing in their right to privilege due to accident of birth is grotesque.

Rosielily · 20/11/2019 18:44

Beatrice would be best advised to slip off to Italy (is that where her fiancé is from) and having a private wedding.

trimtops · 20/11/2019 18:46

He's run away before any of the companies he deals with dump him first.
Oh, the humiliation!!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/11/2019 18:46

@Roselily

Agreed. However I think she would like her grandparents there.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 20/11/2019 18:46

Is that fair? Beatrice hasn't done anything wrong after all.
