My normal rule is nothing until after my birthday (next week).

I've broken it this year by buying presents for DS and nephews already Blush

We're staying with PILs in Spain this year. Flights were booked ages ago. I've palmed off the Father Christmas buying onto them.

HairyToity · 17/11/2019 08:56

Activities booked and paid for. Some presents bought. Made a list. Bulk of gifts still to buy.

GoodwithRocksandGems · 17/11/2019 09:01

Bought a few presents. Baked some mince pies and eaten them! That’s it. I really prefer to do the bulk of it in December.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 17/11/2019 09:51

I have the advent calendars Grin

Does everyone shoo throughout the year? Is that the secret?

OP posts:
PrimeraVez · 17/11/2019 12:08

Already done...
Flight to the UK (we're expats in ME) booked months ago
Air bnb booked months ago
Hire car booked last night
Trip to see FC booked a few weeks ago
Christmas dinner ordered from M&S a few weeks ago
Christmas Ocado shop ordered a few weeks ago, ready for delivery to Air bnb
Winter coats purchased for both DC
Main Christmas present for DC ordered (and delivered and given) a few weeks ago - it's something big for the garden so wanted them to get as much use of it as possible whilst the weather is still good
Confirmed a date for pre-Christmas BBQ at our house with some friends

Still to do...
Presents for everyone else
Dig out decorations and put up (will be up for a fortnight or so before we fly to UK)
Worry about all the different costumes etc that might be needed for end of school plays, parties etc...

I have to venture to Curry’s on Black Friday to buy dh a kindle, wish me luck! 😱 not buying online as I want to pay cash.

onemorecakeplease · 17/11/2019 13:53

Main gift and most other shopping done for ds
Have stuff for dd but no main gift yet. Help?!

Have booked & paid our father Xmas trip at a castle which is a whole day out thing with a fayre and then afternoon tea.

Have supplies ready for crafts and baking and to make seaglass necklaces or key rings that dd is doing for adult relatives

Have sorted what we are eating on Xmas day (collecting Xmas dinner takeaway from local restaurant!) first time ever not cooking and quite excited. Plus kids can stay in pjs and choose exactly what they fancy to eat.

Have pjs and Xmas bedding ready. Dogs gifts are bought.

Just need to sort Xmas eve box and buy gifts for everyone else. I won't bother with a cake as we aren't having folk to us this year but visiting family instead.

I don't do cards but I need to get wrapping paper.

Panto booked and paid for for 21st December.

Hmm what else?!

AgeLikeWine · 17/11/2019 14:01

Nothing. I don’t do Christmas until December.

I did buy a box of mince pies at Waitrose this morning, though. They were on special offer, so I couldn’t resist.

thaegumathteth · 17/11/2019 17:15

Bought ear buds for ds

Pocket microscope for dd

Orange and mint biscuits for dh

Pandora ring for dd

Horsemad · 19/11/2019 08:47

Aargh, put quite a few stocking fillers in the basket online at M&S, then forgot to purchase before the 20% discount finished...

OverthinkingThis · 19/11/2019 08:52

I've done absolutely nothing! We're at PILs this xmas though so don't have to sort out food or anything. Plus DC still too young to get it, so I'm making the most of the opportunity to slack off this year (probably the last year we'll get away with it)

I think I have all the presents bought and some wrapped. They are only wrapped to stop any searching dc from seeing what's there. I don't normally wrap so early. Food wise I just need veg and Yorkshire puddings.
We have a weekend away booked and plans to go to the local NT place to see it all festive.
I'm not normally this organised but always start early to spread the cost. Brexit has had me stashing food so I got the Christmas essentials ages ago.

Damntheman · 19/11/2019 09:38

Almost done. But I was almost done at the end of October. It's a Norway xmas this year so I had to get finished with my siblings and my mum before our pre-xmas UK trip in early November! Have a suitcase that weighs a fuck ton full of gifts from my family hidden in my wardrobe ;)

I've only got to find something for my daughter now. She's proving difficult..

RGPargy · 19/11/2019 10:11

Zilch. Nada. Nuffink. Christmas fills me with dread because I am useless at thinking of presents to buy people and because it costs too bloody much and
I just get fatter.

shinynewapple · 19/11/2019 11:59

Oh dear this thread is making me feel panicky!

I had been thinking that Christmas this year will be simpler than in previous years but actually considering it properly that isn't really the case.

I no longer cater Christmas Day for extended family due to elderly family members no longer being in a position to come to us but we still need to factor time into our day to visit them which has meant that the idea of Christmas lunch out won't be possible.

DS at 18 will also have less presents and I won't have to squirrel them away - but we will now also be buying for his GF .

There are still presents needed for extended family and friends, and DH.

I have vague ideas of what to buy but nothing bought yet.

Big difference for me is that when DS was younger I worked term time so generally had a few days off before Christmas. This year not finishing til Christmas Eve.

I had booked a day off work week before Christmas to do wrapping (of the presents I haven't yet bought) but have now arranged to meet friends on that day.

One thing that we have organised is DH and I have long weekend booked away between Christmas and New Year.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 19/11/2019 15:08

Where is everyone going on their weekends away?

OP posts:
shinynewapple · 19/11/2019 15:50

Alicante Smile just me and DH. DS and his GF will stay home and look after the dog Grin
