Mine has two bottles of decent champagne in it 😁

Actually, thinking about it I've booked theatre tickets, carol concerts, panto tickets and our visit to Santa, so I'm not as far behind as I thought I was.

ISawyouinTescoyesterday · 16/11/2019 14:55

Not got very far. Just feel my weekly budget, is spent before I can even think of Christmas!

I’m pretty much done.

Presents are all bought and hidden away ready to be wrapped. Turkey is ordered. Tree is going up the second weekend in December. Tickets are booked for two cinema trips, we’ll go to one or two Christmas markets at some point but will play that by ear. Drinks are bought and stored away. Work Christmas do is booked and paid for. Non perishables will be bought with the next shop and fresh food shop will be done on 23rd.

HoldMyLobster · 16/11/2019 15:27

I just mentioned to DH that other people are already getting ready for Christmas. He said "Well, I suppose we do only have a month and 9 days left to go. So that gives us a month before we'd usually start getting ready."

missyB1 · 16/11/2019 16:01

Our work do this irritating thing where you pay half the meal price as a deposit, then the other half plus drinks is settled on the night. I have no idea why that is considered easier? I would much prefer to pay the whole meal upfront.

Faith50 · 16/11/2019 16:09

Pantomime booked
Work Christmas dinner booked
New Year's Eve event booked
DC have handed me their gift lists - will buy an item each week until Christmas

Aragog · 16/11/2019 16:18

I have bought most of the items for teen DD's advent calendar.

I made a list of who I need to buy for. Reminded family to update their wish lists online. Not nought any yet though as none updated!

I have booked an Ocado slot - no food on their yet, just held it with a couple of bottles of fizz. Don't actually need much food as out Christmas Day and possibly now away for 2 or 3 days after that.

Have emailed the curry house for final details (menu and times) of their Christmas Day meal before booking to go with friends and my parents.

Have saved a date on the calendar for me, dh and dd to go and get the christmas tree.

I don't tend to do much before December tbh.

AnAngryElf · 16/11/2019 16:44

I feel sick reading this. We have done nothing. I can't get my head in the game and DP is worse than me.

UpAtTheLake · 16/11/2019 16:48

I've bought about half the DD's stocking stuff.
Decided on their main presents.
Decided on what to get dd1 for her Christmas birthday.
Decided what we are doing for her birthday-still to book it.
Negotiated (nearly) plans for Christmas period with exh. Always a pleasure.
Planned Christmas and New Years Rotas at work with surprisingly little arguments from staff team.

Still a lot to do.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 16/11/2019 17:32

Social diary booked and all trips paid for including weekend with DHs family.

Cards and 90% of presents bought.

Cards need writing (may do later with wine) presents need wrapping (ugh) and I’ve got my pom pom wreaths to finish off.

I’ve got a Christmas party to plan which has been made substantially harder by DH being diagnosed as coeliac this year.

It’s my fantasy to have cards, presents and decorating done by 2nd Dec so I can savour all of the lovely events but I usually end up manically wrapping presents on the 24th with an horrific hangover

dementedma · 16/11/2019 17:37

Most presents bought and wrapped, just a few to do.
Card bought but not written
Cake made, fruit gins made for gifts.
Advent calendar bought.
No parties, so no planning to do but we have had tickets for The Lion King for ages so will go and see that in December.

mindutopia · 16/11/2019 17:47

I have not done any shopping or arranged any activities. Dh did buy one stocking stuffer today though. Does that count?

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 16/11/2019 17:51

Bought a couple of the DC’s presents 🤷🏻‍♀️

Can’t even think about Christmas this year. We’re supposed to be exchanging in a couple of weeks (hopefully!) and then we need to complete and THEN do a few weeks worth of DIY before moving in. Christmas might be quiet this year.

Kenworthington · 16/11/2019 18:03

Bought all presents
Wrapped all Main gifts, still need to wrap 4 stockings
Nothing else to do really

Kenworthington · 16/11/2019 18:04

Oh and I’ve written all cards and will send out in a couple weekS
Decs go up around 1st Dec
Will do food shopping a couple days before Xmas day

VictoriaBun · 16/11/2019 18:12

Just two more presents to buy, one of those easy as they always ask for a gift voucher.
Cake(s) made, mincemeat made.
I'm being a grinch this year so refusing to attend any do's.
Going for a low key Christmas this year

Mitsouko67 · 16/11/2019 18:16

Er ....nothing done yet.

Waiting for December.

Might start on cards as I have some nice ones left from last year.

Shopping -just haven't had time to get near the shops and broke anyway.

Keen to book activities but low in funds.

DH has no interest and this year I don't feel like picking up the slack like I always do.

Thinking about it now think I will think it through and maybe scale back this year. Not that I ever did anything that extravagant! Maybe a simple food gift in bulk. I've done Nigellas fruit in sherry other years it's nice and easy.

Bloodybridget · 16/11/2019 18:25

I'm about a quarter of the way through present buying, DP and I have booked places to eat while we're away over Christmas, and we have a date for pre-Christmas meal with family. I would like to be further ahead with presents.

neversleepagain · 16/11/2019 18:29

Presents all bought, online shop ordered for 23rd. Need to wrap and get the tree but that will only be after the 10th.

HoldMyLobster · 16/11/2019 19:20

Inspired by this thread I've added all the Christmas events I'd like to attend to the family calendar, bought a front-row ticket for the Nutcracker, and done a bit of research into a possible present for DD and DS.

I've also made a list of what's left to do.

I feel like I could conquer the world. Quick drink first.

CakeNinja · 16/11/2019 19:24

Nothing. Haven’t started yet, haven’t even made a list.
Have got a long list of people to buy for (around 50) but I never start until December because i have 2 of my dcs birthday in November and also, just because it’s November!
The only thing I know I need to get is the Clarins double serum for my mum Grin so actually I guess I have technically at least started my list.

HoldMyLobster · 16/11/2019 19:26

There's so much to be said for scaling back. We do a family photo calendar for most of the aunts, uncles, grandparents etc. No cards. No presents for nieces and nephews, and very few presents for siblings. Just focus on our immediate family. Limit the number of presents. No matching pyjamas or elf on the shelf or anything that would entail extra shopping or effort.

We don't go anywhere or have anyone over (easier because we live abroad). On Christmas day we do a brie/salmon/crusty bread breakfast and a roast dinner - usually a nice piece of beef - and get in a few extra snacks and booze, but not much. We facetime our families, go for a nice walk round town, maybe ice skate on the pond, light the fire and enjoy being with each other.

HoldMyLobster · 16/11/2019 19:27

I should add that our family are welcome to join us, but in 12 years they've only done it twice because of the distance. It's much more fun having them over in summer when the weather is good.

MiniMum97 · 16/11/2019 19:31

I've booked a cottage. Research some ore made meals like "Cook". Starting buying christmas food. Started thinking about gifts. Have bought Christmas tights. Have bought stuff I buy off the internet that I will need in December to reduce December tasks. Ordered one gift for myself 😬

I am not doing cards this year at all, or putting up decs , and am minimising present buying. Fed up of it all being stressful, expensive and a rush.
